Replacement of Ridley

Bolden has done well when given 10+ carries, 16 -137-1, 14-54-0 and 13-58-1. Gray and White have done absolutely nothing to show they are any better.

That's what Ive noticed too.

Bolden seems to get better with more carries.

phone just beeped, Ridley torn ACL and MCL

Im basing my comments on his role on offense. Bolden has been in more on passing downs than running downs. Its entirely possible that Bolden has been burned a few times by the defense because he thought nobody was there to block when in fact there was.

Nevertheless if Bolden is taking Ridleys carries he wont be blocking anyway. Its also a fact that Bolden is a better receiver than Ridley.
Bolden may be a better receiver than Ridley, but Ridley is a MUCH better runner and blocker. Ridley is a good runner, a very good blocker and decent at catching balls out of the backfield. Bolden is a pretty good receiver, mediocre runner and poor blocker. Good+ at two things and decent at a 3rd is more versatile than pretty good at one thing, mediocre at the second and poor at the third.

Personally, I like the idea of increasing Vereen’s workload, I think he can be an every down back.

I like Jonas Gray to bring in some power. But I say start giving James White some carries too. He did have some decent runs at the end of the KC game. I'd say at least give him a shot to see what he can do in a real competitive NFL game.

I also agree that Mayo will be much tougher to replace than Ridley. Other than franchise backs like Charles and McCoy it seems like RB's can easily be replaced anymore. This isn't 2004 anymore.

vereen isn't that good between the tackles/also we'll suffer on short yardage. even with ridley we couldn't run for a yard when we needed. thankfully we have brady who's qb sneak is perfect!:) unless he fumbles the snap.

if peterson gets cut by the vikings.......

just sayin........

Random thought: Too bad the Chiefs aren't in the NFC. A Knile Davis trade would be sweet.

Who knows but one thing is for sure, we need to stick to the run no matter who is in there...

Peterson wouldn't be a good fit here with Brady and the rest of the players young kids hanging around during training camp.

Agreed regarding Jonas Gray. Down the stretch when the weather starts to turn the Patriots are going to need a bruiser in the backfield that runs between the tackles and pushes the pile consistently to get those tough yards. As presently constructed I'm not sure any of the RBs on the active roster fit that bill.

Bolden, while he has his moments has never been a consistent option in that area, and his ST consideration probably takes him out of the running for that role. Vereen as well for his usage as a passing back trumps that and I'm not so sure he'd be able to hold up with that and still be effective down the stretch. While White has some good qualities, running between the tackles and being a grinder definitely hasn't shown to be any of them, at least based upon his game tape and preseason play

Of all these guys, Gray seems like the best bet unless a trade occurs down the line.

Ridley has had more opportunities to run the ball than Bolden. Of course Ridley is going to look better than Bolden.

This is Boldens chance and the reason why hes been on the RB depth chart. Lets see what Bolden can do getting the majority of carries in the run game. We will soon see if Bolden is a mediocre runner per your ratings.

We got White or give Vereen a more traditional rb role. Bolden will find his way onto the field because of his ST play, but i don't think he should be rb1

Respect. I normally don't zero in on just one thing when I read a post like this, but who would you recommend? Who out there would a defense have to game plan for at this point? If that guy exists, I'm sure he's being used by some team that isn't going to give him up for just scraps. Which brings me to my final question: What or who would you give up to get the player you are wanting?
/sarc on.
Adrian Peterson is available as a Free Agent.
/sarc off
