Replacement of Ridley

Cannot compare Bolden to Gray or White as they are too green.

Regardless of how well you can run ... Belichick does not give you prime time unless you can block - period.

See BJGE ... see Faulk ...
just to name 2 who paid their dues learning to block first - then were very good at it later and played.

Bolden has done well when given 10+ carries, 16 -137-1, 14-54-0 and 13-58-1. Gray and White have done absolutely nothing to show they are any better.

I know they haven't, and haven't claimed otherwise. That's why I said hope, as in I don't think it will take much to find a better option than Bolden, and I sure hope one of the two (or a signing) could fit the bill.

Bolden's a lousy blocker.

Well, then, that compares to Gray and White, doesn't it?
Depends if they have picked up what is expected of them ... we'll soon see.

Like Vareen says: "If you can't do it, you can't play,"

Lawfirm is a FA just to keep in mind, but I'd probably just go with Gray or Finch from the preseason. Losing Ridley really sucks but running back is probably the easiest position to plug and play. Never been real impressed with Bolden, he's had two good games his rookie year and pretty much done squat since aside from a decent game vs Denver last year. However, I do like him on ST.

Ridley versatile, how many catches?
Only a couple dozen over his career. His hands don't suck, but his strengths lie elsewhere. His pass blocking is very good, as is Verene's.

Other than Law Firm, I agree with the rest of it. Good post.

If you don't believe me, that is fine, but at least research it instead of simply citing alternative "posiblities". The Pats rarely keep him in to block anymore. The most he usually does is chip someone before he goes out on his route. Pay more attention, he almost got Brady killed a couple of times last year before the Pats stopped keeping him in to block.

Im basing my comments on his role on offense. Bolden has been in more on passing downs than running downs. Its entirely possible that Bolden has been burned a few times by the defense because he thought nobody was there to block when in fact there was.

Nevertheless if Bolden is taking Ridleys carries he wont be blocking anyway. Its also a fact that Bolden is a better receiver than Ridley.
