The Bills board, official "The Refs screwed us" thread

Apparent lack of education in posts is one thing. What's scary is seeing some of their vets and seemingly more intelligent posters going all in aboard the crazy train. Kraft in bed with Goodell, "under the table deals", Patriots still cheating the system. Hell, one of them is even trying to get others to email (harass) Mike Florio, imploring him to write an article on the great injustice towards their team.

"The refs screwed us. 25 times out of the last 27 meetings."

There were certainly some borderline calls on both teams, which is par for the course.

The Gronk catch/fumble for a first down could've gone either way, and the Gronk TD catch that got called back was another important penalty. It's not like we didn't have a lot of penalties called on our team, too.

I don't believe that the refs had anything to do with turnovers or Brady throwing 3 second half TDs.

They lost by FIFTEEN POINTS at home...WTF they want, the refs to score the friggin points for them? If they didn't have those extremely questionable calls against the Pats, the score would have been even worse. They suck and just don't want to admit it, as usual for the Love Canal, Glow-In-The-Dark refugees.

I think the refs are having a secret competition to see which crew can make the greatest amount of questionable calls in any one game.. the losing crew gets an all expense paid trip to the Pro Bowl.

"Penaltygate" is born...

There was a shytload of really crappy calls yesterday on both sides of the ball... too many freaking penalties..

The penalty that the Bills fans should be upset about was that unsportsmanlike conduct penalty they called on Hughes for hitting his teammate on the head after a big stop. It had me laughing. But remember, THE PATRIOTS DIDN'T SCORE AS A RESULT of this bad call. If Ghost had hit that FG, they'd have a legit complaint but he missed.

The Bills fans are delusional if they're complaining about the rest of the game because of that one bad call. There were terrible calls on both sides of the ball.

And please don't tell me that they're complaining about that textbook DPI call on Williams in the endzone. That was textbook DPI.

Watched the game at Randy (Zip) Pierce's Bruschi shrine. Dozen or more stalwart fans. All game long the Bills were holding Ninko and what do we get? A pathetic holding call on Devy negating a stellar play by both Brady & Gronk.

Yeah, the PI that Gronk drew was ticky-tack but met the definition of the rules. Still should not have been called against Buffalo.

Overturning the Gronk catch as ruled complete on the field was a homer call but can be argued either way. Inconsistent though.

Ninko was outright tackled on one play. I have no idea what refs are looking for.

I think they may have called the wrong number when they announced that penalty.

I think that was a make-up call for Hughes shoving Brady to the ground on the previous play.

When you have a game decided by the refs like that Packers @ Seahawks from a couple years ago it's one thing, it's totally different from what these guys are complaining.

To be fair, the officiating is really terrible and I remember a couple weeks 49ers @ Cardinals the refs decided the game in favor of the home team. There should be others and at this point it's very possible that they interfered in one possession games and in this case it's fair to complain, it's not guaranteed that the team trailing is going to score the TD or FG, but they are really interfering instead of letting the players play.

Stephen A Smith is a jerk but last year he said some nice things on this regard after the Patriots @ Jets when the refs called that penalty on the field goal. In the end of games, crucial moments, they have to call just the obvious and blatant fouls. Let the players play god damn it. You can write this down, there will be games decided by refs and playoff spots decided by the refs.

The call they got for unsportsman like conduct looked bogus. The guy seemed to be hitting his own teammate in celebration and it cost them 15 yards and probably the ball back.

Holy Cow!! And I thought "The Stadium" was bad. They have got to be the whiniest bunch of fans I've ever seen. :p. I think they really believe this crap. I like the poster who says something to the effect "You ever notice how much better the Pats play in the 2nd half? I think Kraft is paying off some one in the Bills Org" Gold Jerry, Gold!!!:D. Unreal.... There's always the "Lets just wish for injury" crowd. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/172044-the-patriots-drive-me-to-bad-thoughts/

I think the call was because he jumped on the pile well after the whistle was blown, right in front of the ref.

Yup. They were very confident of giving the Patriots a loss. I was surprised by this. Now they still refuse to accept the Patriots ever had a chance of winning in Buffalo. So the only logical reason is the refs helped the Patriots out.

Although there were a couple of bills fans who called them out on it in the week leading up the to game.

Which led to zero points for the Patriots, so it had zero impact on the outcome.

It was a bad call, but if that's your most legitimate grievance (and in the Bills' case, it is) then you don't have anything close to a legitimate grievance. I can think of a handful of equally significant calls that went against the Pats, and one that should have been a lot more significant but wasn't only because the Patriots went on to score anyway.

In their defense, that offensive pass interference was ticky tack at best. That said, the Pats got some awful spots.

Are you talking about the Edelman PI? He was shoved to the ground before the ball even arrived. There wasn't anything ticky tack about that.

If anybody's in the mood for a more level-headed Bills fan, here's a thread for you:

My nipples got a little hard when I read this...

I don't want to rip Watkins, and it's way too early to judge that trade. But one of my fears was that Watkins is not the "big receiver" that can't be defended against. We saw that again with Gronk today -- there's just nobody who can match up with him. There are really good corners who can match up with Watkins.

God, I hope Gronk stays healthy.

Rumor has it a few of these signs could be found
on some office water coolers in upstate NY today.

From Ben Dreith and "Roughing the Passer" through Walt Coleman and the Karma balancing "Tuck" call, and hundreds of questionable calls in between and since, I long ago accepted that bad calls and bad bounces are just part of the game and that, in the long run, they even out.

Why? Because I decided that the alternatives were either to become a conspiracy nut, get a tin foil hat or just drive myself crazy.
