just found this website which tracks penalties. Not sure how accurate it is, but according to this… the Patriots are one of the most penalized team in the league so far.

http://www.nflpenalties.com

#2 most flags thrown. 54 penalties. Only behind Pittsburgh for most penalties, who have caused 57 yellow flags.

#1 in penalty yards against. 526 yards loss due to flags. By far the worst in the league.

#3 in lowest beneficiary count. "Beneficiary" means the team's opponent was called for the penalty. Offsetting and Declined penalties are not included in total count or yards.

So basically we're getting screwed by the refs. Benefitting very little from flags, but getting a lot called against us. Some are the players fault, but a lot have been ticky tacky.

Wonder how many of those are on the offensive line a lot of holds and false starts on them this year

We need to post this on the Jill's forums.

Three different Pats WRs were called for false starts against Buffalo. What's that all about?

They would just argue that those penalties that we were flagged for were impossible to cover up by the refs so they had to throw it.

Even more proof that the NFL, and the Refs, are in Kraft's pocket./Jets fans

I cringed last year when Belichick basically called out the refs for not calling a penalty on Welker for the Talib hit in the AFC championship game. It was highly unusual for Belichick and it had to be noticed by the refs. I was telling people at work that I was worried that it might blow back on him this year. I'm not usually a tin-foil hat kinda guy, but it's beginning to look like I may have been right to worry.

I wonder what the numbers would look like if the Cinci game was removed. That was one of the most blatently biased officiated games I have ever seen.

Someone will need to post this Thursday night on the Jets Insider board when they start complaining about the refs being in Kraft's pocket and how the Pats get all the calls.

So we have a thread here making fun of Bills fans for *****ing at the refs. While at the same time having a thread for that of our own.

Don't know the validity of these stats, but someone should post them on the Bills' fan board if true.

The thread here is based on quantitative statistics (however accurate), and I'm fine with that.

shhhh logic has no place on fan forums.

If anything, BB called out Welker for a dirty play.
"It was a deliberate play by the receiver to take out Aqib. No attempt to get open," Belichick said. "I'll let the league handle the discipline on that play, whatever they decide. It's one of the worst plays I've seen. That's all I'll say about that."

As a point of reference, last year the Pats had 75 penalties(675 yards) for the whole season... 4th least in the league.

Last year we were the beneficiary of 118 penalties on other teams for 1027 yards(3rd in the league)...

Hard to explain the difference...

Pats have played with a lot of discipline throughout the BB era.

I agree that is why this seems so out of character..

Outside of some early OL issues, I don't think the Pats play with significantly less discipline. A more aggressive defense is probably a major factor as well. I'd like to see the stats with the Cinci game thrown out, but I'm lazy today.

How can we ***** about the myriad false starts by the OL and WRs? That's a Patriots problem, NOT a Refs problem.
