Mentally tough?? Definitely in his younger days. Now?? There was no mental toughness during the 2nd half of the Chiefs game when Brady threw in the towel and flat out quit. Spent the first 4 weeks pouting like a 6 year old and had his camp spinning tales in the media.
Was that mental toughness during the last minute of the Super Bowl in 2007 (amazing how overlooked that sequence of plays has been over the years) when the Patriots got the ball back, had timeouts to use, had close to 50 secs on the clock and only needed a FG to win it all. Brady made NO attempt to work the ball down the field to get into FG range. All he did was chuck it long to Moss like he couldn't wait to get off the field.
Tom Brady has not been "Joe Cool" on the field for several years now.
Mental toughness delivered Tom Brady today against the Buffalo Tomato Cans?? o_O
Come on guys.

What an idiot. Brady got the team up with less then 3 minutes to go in 07 and the d had to stop them, but they didn't. He was mentally tough and physically tough. He got hit 25 times on a bum ankle and never stopped.

The Chiefs game, he was told to come out. He tried but it wasn't gonna work. I really wish you would crawl in your cave and never come back, because your flat out a dumb troll

Rhody's always hating on Brady, calls him a spoiled diva, a horrible leader, mentally weak, calls anyone that disagrees a pink hat etc, etc..

Justin Tuck doesn't share your sentiment Rhody, called Brady the toughest QB he ever played against hands down noting his 2007 SB performance as proof.

He's not a Pats fan, he's a Yankees/Giants fan from Johnston or Cranston.

Rhody is a loser with nothing in his life and it kills him to see successful happy people.

BOO HOO

It was amazing how many gave up after the KC game. With 2500+tickets for the next game bengals AT home. And those same people that gave up are back on the wagon for now.

Will always love this team and know they won't always be perfect epically since Brady is getting older. **** happens but he still has that fire. That fire can go get 1 more...

at 2-2 it was sky falling and it was hilarious to sit back and watch a lot here and what BS they were posting and now i see some of those posters don't post anymore...wonder why...

Michael Strahan shared that sentiment as well ;)

I thought this was a joke, but you spent way too much effort for it to be absurd humor.

So who represents "mental toughness" in your view? Grogan, sitting on his helmet after heaving it up to Morgan in double coverage? Is he your hero? Instead of lounging on your couch, take some hits at full speed by guys large enough to tear your head off and kick it through the uprights. Getting drilled blindside twice by an unblocked Justin Tuck in the Raiders game as the line tried to find itself could throw any good QB off his game. Maybe you missed the whole line shuffling thing this season. Or maybe you forgot that QBs cannot block and throw the ball accurately.

As your standard for mental toughness appears to be superhuman, consider that Justin Tuck lauded Brady as the toughest QB he has ever played against, specifically referencing the 2007 game. What you apparently fail to recall is Brady weathered an entire season with a bulls-eye on his back, going 18-0, before that loss. I am sure you have experienced something close to that in your life, but most mentally weak people would fold under the pressure of Spygate and chasing a perfect season. Get some perspective. Teams don't get to the Super Bowl every year. Let alone win them all. Salary cap and all. It's crazy. And your brain is a bit addled on your 2007 memory, so I will refresh your memory: 35 seconds to play from their own 26 yard line. Maybe take a look at the line play and see the two scoring drives in the other 59:25 were 56 and 80 yards. And he got sacked on that last drive at 00:19, which cost them a time out. It ain't clock management when you are eating the turf. Sheesh.

"Spent the first 4 weeks pouting like a 6 year old and had his camp spinning tales in the media." Where did this revelation come from? Do you watch the media at work, do you simply hope these 'sources' are credible, or do you just make this crap up in your mind? Try reviewing the Mankins holdout in 2010 when he was in OK refusing to return to MA, and he answered after the contract was resolved he was here hanging out with his teammates. Media and the truth are not always the same. And Brady has the right to not be doing cartwheels over the loss of a guy who has had his back for years. He has paid for that right with all the contract money he has surrendered by not demanding to be the highest paid QB over the years.

Brady still needs more optimal conditions to win than in previous years, and that is to be expected. And while the Bills aren't utter doormats, they're not the yardstick you want to use to measure him by either.

The fourth quarter benching 2 weeks ago might be over-emphasized for putting a fire under his buttocks, but I think coming out of that shellacking with the "word of the week" being "Trust" was big. The following game he had to let go and get players other than Edelman/Gronk into the attack. Edelman got a lot of looks today too... but he had a spare moment to get Lafell into the game. Same with going to Wright in the end zone... if he has enough time to look for the open man, Brady can still put up some numbers and more importantly, take this team as far as they'll go.

Still the best option, no longer - face the truth - the best QB out there. Not with this supporting cast. Maybe in an "intangible" way where you grade on the curve. Maybe in a contrafactual world where he's throwing to Damaryius Thomas and Julius Thomas and hell let's throw in Julio Jones... but right now? No. He's the Guy Who Will Beat You With What He's Got... and I wouldn't sleep on that ability.

But he needs time to do it, and yes, he needs to trust his guys. That's got to be hard when the o-line opens you up to personal injury.

Not to piss on anybody's cornflakes, good game, great game by Brady. And I think we've seen now "no, the problem isn't with Brady." Lots of variables, but I think we can take "OMG Tom fell off the cliff" off the table.

Brady is just amazing how tough and resilient he is...I mean it's just as simple as that. I have said it many times on this board...we are a lucky fan base to see how much he gives to this organization.

It will fade in years to come I am sure but his mental toughness is just off the chart...

Brady still needs more optimal conditions to win than in previous years, and that is to be expected. And while the Bills aren't utter doormats, they're not the yardstick you want to use to measure him by either.

But who do you measure him by, if not the Bills? Cincy? KC? The Donkeys just battled with the hapless Jets and Seattle got put down at home by Dallas. If by that statement you are saying don't arrange a Super Bowl parade after beating the Bills, who have not been title contenders for a while, agreed. I agree some fans are a little excessive in measuring the significance of individual wins and losses. But in a hostile environment with an emotional crowd against a very good defensive line, it was a solid performance for Brady and his line and cause for some happiness. Not the end, but progress.

It is hard to compare Brady real time with other NFL QBs because no other QB tends to face the same personnel changes Brady faces every year. If the question are there are other QBs with these changes who could do better, then I am not sure if he is not the best. Has he likely lost some of his physical ability over the years? Sure. He is not 24 anymore. I don't know that his physical abilities have ever made him the best. It is his drive, competitiveness, and intelligence that has made him better than the rest.

But given the fact there were deluded souls here suggesting a rookie QB (Brady had a full year holding a clipboard to learn the offense when he stepped in) could do a better job in replacing him, he deserves some praise.

The irony of your second paragraph is thick my friend, as you've apparently overlooked the fact that the Pats offense got the ball back with 29 seconds left, not "almost 50". Also, a FG would not have won the game, but merely tied it. Also, one of the passes to Moss was open and would've set them up inside the 20, and just went off his fingertips. That was a bad decision by Brady, I suppose? Whatever scraps of credibility you clung on to, are now long gone. Cease and desist.

Well let's start with the idea that Brady is the finest QB to ever play the game in the modern era (>1955) based on his record.

2 QB's in NFL history have >100 wins and a winning % over 70%, Tom Brady and Joe Montana. Brady is currently 3 rd in career wins but has a much higher winning % and the people ahead of him ( Farve and Manning) Manning has a winning % of 69.8%, Farve 62.4%, Montana 71.3% .

Brady with a 77.2% winning %. Amazing difference.

Then of course his playoff record, most wins ever by a qb in the playoffs. A few other qb's have similat winning %, but with fewer games played. While he is 1 sb win behind Bradshaw and Montana, he has more Conference Championship wins and appearances. Than either of those qb's.

He
has never been the most 'talented' thrower or runner he has always won through superior preparation and with his brain reading D's. this traits haven't diminished with age and decrease in accuracy are minor by comparison.

HE does require a reasonable O Line to protect him and reasonable targets. the issues this year have been entirely because to problems with the OL. As the O line has improved the Qb has 'improved'. The nitwits who tried to bury Brady (and some of naysayers here) merely showed their lack of understanding of the game.

Tom Brady's second half stats: 15-for-17, 274 yards, 3 TDs

wow
Crazy stats, after a very slow start, he kicked it into beast mode. We are so lucky to have had 14 years of Brady (so far).

So i wonder what felger and mazz will talk about this week after 2 solid wins Where the offense and defense were clicking? Granted they will probably ignore it and continue the "krafts are cheap", "brady vs garropalo" and "trade brady" talk

I think he hinted it on the Post Game Show last night. He was defending his stance that there are no "Sacred Cows" and if Brady was playing sub par then they should be critical. he also said it was Mortensen and Shefter and Curran that were talking about Brady being traded after all and they just reported. While that is true about it not being their speculation they sure as hell adavanced the notion non stop for a month. Its about all they talked about. Next on their agenda today will be spygate. Book it. He brought it up last night and left us with his little dig that Walsh was promoted after we won Superbowl 36. The man has no journalistic integrity whatsoever.

Serious question: Do local radio talk shows assign interns or otherwise pay people to post things like "I wonder what so and so in the media will say about this"? Seems to be a lot of it lately, a lot more than usual.

Rico, my understanding is that "planting questions" and "generating buzz" are sort of long-standing tactics in entertainment and, gasp, "infotainment." I would think this would be much more pronounced on the social-media side of infotainment given the "viral" possibilities.
