When NYJ fire Rex would you guys want him as DC with Patriots?

Belichick is not a "shiny beads" kind of guy, if Patricia were to move on, would not be surprised if Pepper was brought back...

Rex could not function or fit into in this organization, not sure if he could function in any system unless he was the head coach... he has turned into a media whore.

He fit in Baltimore and succeeded more than virtually every other defensive coordinator in the league and he was just as brash and talkative there. The only difference was he only had one media availability a week.

With that said, he can stay as far away from this organization as possible.

He's such a buffoon I really don't dislike him, and if he could mold our D into the D he had in Baltimore, sure, I'd take him. Then again, he had superstars on that defense like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed in their primes. So then it becomes the age old question, was it the coach or was it the players?

That was before he was a HC for 5 years and did not have to share the limelight... in this organization DC and OC's do not have continual access to the press.

Why not? If anything, I think it would all but guarantee we keep Revis. LOL

Oh you just wait. Another pats loss this season and some people here will want to see BB replaced ! :)

Or traded! Ha.

Actually I don't think you can trade coaches anymore...

I would, lets be honest he is going to get canned in maybe a week or two from now when the team is 1-6 or 1-7.

I would take him here as DC, I mean BB worked for both NY teams and now he is a NE legend, it is pure business. Not many teams will hire Rex as a HC but as a DC that is another story.

I would take him in a second but BB would never ever hire him.

The man can coach (just not as a head coach) but he is far too undisciplined to mesh with our head coach. He is not detail oriented and cannot keep his mouth shut. He is a sloppy professional coach.
There is no synergy here.

I actually think he could get canned a lot sooner than that. My bet is after this coming Thursday.

The Jets are pretty much going to lose this afternoon by a sizable margin, and if we embarrass them on national TV on Thursday night (in following the peculiar trait of NFL Thursday games of late) I think that will be the last straw.

I wonder if he'll cry? i haven't seen him cry in a while

Rob Ryan coached for Belichick. So I don't know why Rex couldn't. I don't think it will happen because Rex likes to run a much different scheme and is looking for another head coaching job which might be tougher coaching under the shadow of Belichick.
I think BB recognizes Rex's abilities as a DC, however there is a fundawmental core difference between the 2's basic defensive philosophy, which would make Rex an impossibility to come here.

Rob would be a better possibility since he had to live with Bill for a couple of years. However, the fact that Rob favored his father's schemes, was one of the reasons he wasn't considered for DC after Romeo left, which led to him moving on.

I think, (and agree) that given the right talent (see 85 Bears) Papa Ryan's system works well, however it doesn't have any longevity if for some reason the specific talent isn't there. Within 2 years the league had caught up with Ryan's schemes the the Bears spent a decade out of the playoffs just 2 years after having what I think was the most dominant team in NFL history for a single season.

For example when faced with the LACK of defensive talent the Pats had in 2011, there is no way Ryan's schemes would have led to a superbowl run. BB managed to take that sub par talent and despite the near rec0rd total yds given up, survive into a the 12th ranked scoring D (IIRC) Just look at the Saints this year. Ryan was everyone's next HC Candidate for making the Saints a top 10 defense (6th IIRC), yet just a year later, teams have caught up with his schemes again and are torching the Saints D. BB's schemes/philosophies are less exciting or immediately impactful, yet stand the test of time.

Rex could easily end up as a broadcaster and make a pretty good living. He could stay living in Jersey with Wifey and only have to work a few days a week.
