Rumor: Larry Fitzgerald to the Pats

Hopefully houston keeps losing and we snag Johnson after he demands a trade.... aaah......welp, back to reality

Arizona would have a tough time cutting or trading basically the face of their franchise. We have heard this song for a few years and he is still there. Plus Palmer hasn't played since week one and they are right in the thick of it.

If you are going to speculate about a veteran WR, why not go for the best:

The end could be coming for Calvin Johnson in Detroit | ProFootballTalk

No way the Lions cut him in the off-season. If they do, then if I'm BB, I'm all in on landing Megatron!

There is no way Detroit parts with Megatron; that fan base would revolt and tear the stadium apart limb from limb and they would be in the right.

Larry Fitzgerald never came across as a chase-the-money player. I believe that he would be willing to take a drastic cut for a chance of a super bowl.

Admendola and the pick we got from Mankins for the rights to Larry Fitzgerald, with a future pick as high as another 4th based on playing time.

I'd like to receive Larry Fitzgerald and a 3rd round pick for Larry Fitzgerald. Can we make that kind of trade again? Where's Brad Childress when you need him.

Fitzgerald for Amendola. Bahahahahaha

dont' think fitz would pick up the offense. so many have tried...and failed miserably.
somehow amendola gets on the field though. lol

Looking at Fitzgerald contract details here:
http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/arizona-cardinals/larry-fitzgerald/

Larry Fitzgerald is making only 1m base salary this year.

Next year LF is due 15m dollars in bonuses and would be a 23.6m dollar cap hit for the Cards.
So even if the Cards don't trade him this year, they would likely have to cut him next year or renegotiate his deal.

I think considering the contract details that 2014 is the most likely/best year for the Cardinals to trade him.

The only question is what type of compensation would be demanded/IF the Cards would rather just hold onto him until the end of the season. But LF will have a monstrous cap hit next year if kept.

Oddly enough, I was actually talking about this a few weeks ago--and yes, I understand that we go through this every single year. I just felt like this year it may be more of a possibility.

At this point, the Cards are 5-1 and sitting pretty all alone at the top of the NFC West with a two game lead over the next team in the division. I don't see them as sellers at this point. They have a good shot at winning the NFC West.

I can't see the Cardinals trading Larry Fitz this year.

Before the season started I thought if the Cards were having a bad season then they probably would of moved him and got some picks for next years draft. Right now they are 5-1 and lead the NFC West, they would be dumb to move him this season, he is a weapon for them and they need him. Even if they spread the ball around this year more than others, he still adds a lot of value for that team and can be huge for them in the playoffs.

I agree with KA above.

The Cardinals have basically a three game lead, in a very good division. They are not trading away the face of their franchise and risk upsetting the apple cart.

So can we officially close the yearly Fitz to Pats talk?
