The 2014 Edition : Jets continue to suck (what else is new)

Geno is just not very bright. There is no way that this level of intellect that put forth the above paragraph can succeed in the NFL at the QB position

Have to admit, I wouldn't mind if he was right. Just this week. Is that wrong? Am I the only one? I mean, it won't happen, because, you know -- the Jets suck.
I cant root for the jets. I tried it once when they played Indy in AFCCG but switched back to rooting against them after a quarter.

No good can ever come from rooting for the JEST. Even if they win you still feel unclean.

There's no possible way I'd root for the Jets. Even when they play the Broncos and Manning I can't root for them. It's one of the few times I'll root for Manning is when they play the Jets. Although, 2-4 Ints by Manning in the blowout win over the Jets would balance everything out.

The Jets winning is the perfect scenario. Denver loses, Jets fans suddenly think they're something again, JI becomes hilarious for a few days, then the Patriots annihilate a Rex Ryan Jets team one last time at the Razor, moving them on to 2015.

Your thinking is good. Ordinarily, with this matchup, we'd root for the asteroid. In this case, I think that, while we don't root for the Jets, we simply root against the Broncos, and don't hope for the astronomical intervention.

I really liked Geno smith when he came out of college, oh well. I guess the Jets are on to Denver

But that's the source of this problem. He shouldn't have been let into college, much less out of it. His attempt to explain this - "I guess you could say I was on West Coast time, thinking I was on West Coast time when — I mean thinking I was on East Coast time when we were actually on West Coast time so that was just my mishap. It really had nothing to do with the time zones.” - is an indictment of his high school, West Virginia University, the NCAA, and the educational system in general.

This is probably a more succinct evaluation of Smith's attempts to explain away the problem (especially given their performance last Sunday!):

Or just have Welker spike Manning's Papa John's with some Molly, so that Manning can't play on Sunday. Problem solved.

Spread for the Broncos game should be at least 30.

I tried rooting for them when we needed them with Favre at the helm to beat the Dolphins so Cassel could attempt to bring us home a trophy. NEVER AGAIN. I don't care what the stakes or if our season is in jeopardy and can only be saved by a Jets win.

That is an EXCELLENT point. That game was one of the many low spots in my plummeting regard for the New Jersey Jesters.

Still, I have a lot of reasons for wanting them to win. There's Peyton Manning (I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the Superbowl). There's the fact that, if the improvement from Week 4 to Week 5 continues, we can't write off the Pats' championship hopes and the Broncos are an obvious rival. There's the desire for the Jets to at least win enough games so that we won't have to rely on their drafting incompetence next April. And, best of all, it would be all the funnier to watch the Jets fans plunge back into the pit of despair after their infantile fantasies have been raised by a single, isolated, unrepeated victory.

But should we root for them? After all, when I've rooted for them I jinxed them.

Let's just take consolation from the fact that one team must lose.

I can't conceive any scenario in which the Green Beans beat Denver -- short of the game being played in a hurricane, or Forehead Omaha getting knocked out on the first play. But even then, New Jersey probably would still lose 2-0.

The Jets bit is great, but I just can't stop reading and re-reading those headlines at the bottom. I'm torn on which is more compelling: " ... ‘Hung like a cashew' " or "Probers seize mattress." Undoubtedly those stories are related to the Jets, or at least their fan base, somehow.
