The shortcomings in those two groups come after the Pats used a second-round pick to take a backup quarterback a few years after doing the same with a third-round selection.

Yes, because nobody but the Patriots spends two second- and third-round picks on backup QBs in the span of four years. . . .

This is the most vague report by Mort. I smell BS story, in the fact that he doesn't have a good source, just saying what everyone knows.

it's going to be hell all week if we lost tonight. tons of rumors/********..

tom should stay. and if he does leave, go to houston.

Please go to the NFC. We all saw what happened Favres first year with the Vikings when they beat the breaks off the Packers.

Although I think a lot of this has been overblown and trade of Brady is currently unlikely, but the sad thing is that the three teams most likely be a trade partner for Brady are within the division. I don't think Belichick would be as willing to trade Brady in the division like he did with Bledsoe.

It's now or never. The cap hit of $18M for next year is sunk cost. Everything get guaranteed if Brady ins't traded. That being said, it is very unlikely that it will happen.

Guaranteed salary is still salary, and disappears off the cap if a player is traded.

right now the pats look like a team that is rebuilding but Brady is not going anywhere this year if they end up with a top 10 pick in the Draft then Brady well be cut or traded at the end of the season but for now its week 5 and they are tied for first in the east

If Brady is on the roster week 17, he will never be cut. His next three years become fully guaranteed if he finishes the season the roster. He will be only traded at that point if they are going to get rid of him even if they got a conditional 7th rounder for him.

The difference is that Broncos are putting in all their chips for Manning's last few years whereas Pats on the other hand think that Brady can play QB, O-line and WR simultaneously.
This is the so called patriot way. They never think about individuals, the whole organization instead. Now the whole team is going down. Good job Bill and Krafts.

You folks act like this is the longest losing streak in team history. Some of you need to take a big breath. In 2001 we were 5-5 after week 10, that worked out pretty well in the end. If you expect every year to be 16-0 then just watch 2007 replays. If you want perfection, then turn off your HD and go outside on Sundays. Football is about struggle, not stats, not best QB ever, not best fantasy team. Just which is the last team standing!

that makes the story a little more interesting but IMO unless they look like hot garbage vs cincy tonight I cant see them giving up on the season this soon

Ya Chris mortensen and espn have never made up a story before

/sarcasm on

Brady and wife are building a multimillion dollar palace in South Brookline near the owner's palace because Tom is looking to move out of New England. Clearly they are only building it to flip it like they did in LA, because Tom's history is to grub every buck out of every situation.

Uh, OK, Mort, we'll consider this credible due to your extensive record breaking news about the Patriots.

/sarcasm off

The "Patriot Way" only works if you're winning. Without winning, the Patriots become an uninspiring and boring team to play for. Something needs to spark these guys, and I don't know where that comes from on this team. Brady always seemed to be that guy, but he's basically looked defeated in every game this year. They simply look like passionless drones out there.

Lol some people... Swap mannings group with Brady's and manning is the one being dragged through all the bs Brady has been. Frekin chicken littles get all paranoid cause a little adversity comes their way gimme a damn break.

Really hoping we get over this adversity and in the week leading up to the SuperBowl (or after it) we look back at these types of news stories & threads and just laugh.

Every year - we expect it be flawless with very little adversity and win the SuperBowl with ease. (I get the expectations, but still)

Aside from the Seahawks last year, look at some of the recent SuperBowl champions. All dug themselves out of a hole.

Ravens - lost 4 of last 5 games of season + fired their OC
Giants - lost 4 in a row late in the season (5 of their last 8)
Packers - Rodgers was hurt late, tons of injuries,
Saints - lost last 3 games of the year
Giants - started 0-2

Is it paranoia to state Tom Brady is the 29th rated QB in the NFL?
Is it paranoia to state the New England Patriots have one of the three worst receiving cores in football?
Is it paranoia to state, despite years of this being a problem, the Patriots cannot generate a pass rush?
Is it paranoia to state we are seeing the worst O line play since Bruce Armstrong was blocking with a bunch of bums?
Is it wrong to state our talent level is so low, a freaking safety we already tried to get rid of is our #1 KR?

this drama is quite good stuff

Guaranteed salaries don't hurt tradability because they're low.
