So is Browner inactive tomorrow?

Neither Browner nor Tyms has yet been activated to the team's roster. A final decision on that must come by Monday, at 4 pm, when adjustment to the roster must have been made to get it down to 53.

Bill doesn't think they are in football shape:

Providence Journal said:
You could go out there and run laps around the field forever and do sit-ups, but until you put the other 21 guys out there on the field, it’s different,” Belichick said. “You just can’t simulate football without 22 guys on the field. You just can’t do it. Being in condition is important — I’m certainly not minimizing that — but playing football is playing football. It’s not doing wind sprints.

“Guys that miss time, whether it’s a player coming back off an injury or the Tyms-Browner situation or whatever it is, there’s an element to football — reactions, timing, execution — that’s separate from conditioning.”

Both Browner and Tyms, aware of their suspensions, did their best to get in football shape in the preseason.

“I think they got as far as they could go, and then we had to put on the brakes for four weeks,” said Belichick. “Now it’s time to start up again.”

No problem. Let me break it down, because it's a 2 parter.

They had to be activated by 4:00 pm on Saturday (Oct 4) in order to play today (Sun, Oct 5). Since that didn't happen, neither Tyms nor Browner can play against the Bengals.

The next deadline is now Monday, at 4 pm. They must either be cut by then, or other moves must be made in order to bring the roster total down to 53.

I hope I was clear enough with that, and enjoy your buzz, and the rest of your 'Saturday'.

I have to watch the Pats get destroyed Monday. My Ducks lose thursday night. Now KT is cut, Browner is not playing, and the Pats will likely get beat in primetime.

What the hell did I ever do to the football gods. This might be the worst week in football ever for me.

Thanks Deus for breaking it down so easy lol. But what the hell? Why no activation of Browner by 4pm?

I just don't get what Beli is doing this year, I just don't get it.

So, browner is not playing b/c he was not activated. WTF?

My football world is so backwards right now. Hey, whatever..

A player who isn't in football shape isn't ready to play. That's all there is to it really.

Imagine if bill trotted out Browner and he got dusted. Half the fan base would jump off a ledge.

He hasn't played football in 5 weeks. You think 3 days of today's NFL practice was going to get him right back into game shape?

Better for press man opposite Revis, or hell, on the te (admitting I don't know much about their personnel outside Revis needs to be in Greens grill all ****ing game) with the rest of the backfield dealing with the remnants. Dennard has a shoulder (cause that's something a smaller, press, physical corner won't be affected by), Ryan has seemed to regressed a touch (why do we ruin cbs?), and the best thing going for butler is the coaching staff hasn't had time to ruin him yet.

I also think him not being activated might bode well for Dennard's chances of playing. I mean there is no way Belichick has that much confidence in Ryan after he benched him at halftime. But then again Pats coaching decisions have been out of bizarro world this season. So it wouldn't surprise me if come tomorrow night it's Revis and Arrington starting on the outside.

Forget that. Sit Dennard and let that shoulder heal, unless your going reverse buddy Ryan(d instead of o) and hope he blows it up so bad that the ir call to make space is a gimme...

Anyone remember Hobbs on Plax with a garbage shoulder? He wasn't even a press man corner...

Wes Welker missed the final preseason game + the first 2 regular season games of the season after his 31235235th concussion.

He then came back, week 3, AT Seattle and had 6 catches.

What the **** is this ****?

Has Belichick ever had a more WTF first quarter of the season? Almost everything he's done this year is baffling. (Trading Mankins, Cutting Tommy Kelly to save a couple pennies, Playing Revis in Zone, mis-use of Chandler Jones, mis-use of Collins, activating 5 ****ing RBs vs Kansas City, Keeping Dobson inactive, Cutting Thompkins, Refusing to activate Browner/Tyms after suspension)

As I noted in another response, keep in mind that Welker was brought back a bit easier as well. I believe that he only played on third down situations in a limited role his first game back.

He also has developed quite a chemistry with Peyton Manning. I don't think there was much to compare between Wes Welker's limited role and a brand new Brandon Browner who has never once played a game for us. I'd have to imagine that communication and knowing your assignments/roles are going to be pretty important in one of the team's most important games in a while; particularly with their backs against the wall.

Browner only had the opportunity to have one real practice this week, due to the shortened week, so that's a fairly important piece of information to consider.

They have a stretch of back to back divisional games with BUF + the NYJ in the next 10 days, and another mini-bye of 10 more days after that, so we should feel pretty confident that Browner will be getting some playing time and practice during that upcoming stretch.

I agree that there have been some baffling decisions thus far that haven't worked out too well.

What's Logan Ryan's excuse then?

(besides his unqualified CB coach)

Browner had the entire offseason and preseason to learn what he needed to.
Was he not in football shape during the preseason games? Did he eat potato chips and ice cream and sit on his coach for the last 4 weeks?
Did he not study at all on his own and watch game tape for 4 weeks?

How the **** could a guy who should be our second best corner not be ready for a game against a top opponent

Why should the defense be any different when it comes to bizarre personnel decisions. After all how is it that Aaron Dobson can't get on the field and KB Thompkins gets cut on a team that has no WR's??

He has not played football for four weeks. Being in football shape and regular working out shape is different. During the pre season he practised football. He has not done that for four weeks.
