Pats vs Bengals

I'd like to see a more simplified and aggressive defensive game plan. Just line up and play, d%#*!@t. I'd also like to see Revis shadow Green. The return of Browner and (hopefully) Dennard will help.

My biggest concern on defense is the run stopping ability of the D-line minus Siliga. I do not know if they have enough bodies to combat a relentless Bengals running attack.

I am hoping that they move Collins to SLB as he has been abused at WLB IIRC.

Offensively, I'd like to see the offense stick to the running game with Ridley, and do some play action down the seams with Gronkowski, who is at the point of being unleashed now that he is seemingly able to handle full compliment of snaps.

Burfict is their best linebacker, and he is most likely out with a concussion, so there could be some openings in the short intermediate areas in front of the safeties. Hitherto, the Bengals defense has been generous to opposing tight ends. Therefore, I expect Gronkowski to have his best game of the season thus far if the offense improves.

Which brings us to...

TB/O-line are the X factors Sunday night. If the O-line does not build on some promise shown last Monday, and if TB continues to look skittish and react to pressure that is not there when the line does hold, then it will be a struggle for the Patriots all night long against a very good Bengals defense.

I'm hopeful that the returns of Browner and (hopefully) Dennard will mean that the team employs more press man in the back end. Revis on Green straight up and give him help from time to time over the top. If we do that, and handle their receivers, we should be able to load the box against the run.

I just re-watched the Pats-Saints game from last year. Fantastic game. With that said, the Pats have to get Thompkins and Dobson on the field together - along with Gronk.

What I want to see is our defense finally start to explode with some kind of identity.
I don't understand what I'm seeing. Why does it look like nobody cares? Even when we were holding teams to field goals and looked good defensively, it was so mechanical and soulless looking.

Where is the Revis that I was jealous of the Jets for? He doesn't seem any slower, his skills don't really look diminished.

I wonder if this is a case of leaders being forced into follower roles by virtue of their short duration here in comparison to team veterans.

The Revis I remember played with serious attitude, and was a corner back that played every week like he wanted the story of the game to be about him. "Revis Island." He took over games and dominated, and he was the beating heart of the Jets defensive zeal. Where is this guy?

Is he trying to behave? Does he not want to risk rocking the boat, disrupting `the Patriot way`, and has just slunk back in the background to `do his job`? Let your voice be heard, man.

We need to let this guy play his own game. Revis takes enormous pride in one-on-one competition. He starts playing like a beast of prey instead of some guy who's stuck standing 10 yards off the line.

Belichick needs to unleash these guys, and Revis and Browner need to take over the attitude of this defense if Wilfork and Mayo are not.

The defense will be tested. The defense failed last week, with much blame given to the coaches. Hopefully, Patricia and Belichick have a better game plan this week. Also, the additions of Browner and Dennard should certainly help. Of course, we hope that the injured in the front seven are OK.

For me, the offense is about a 3rd WR being capable of getting open. We can't play with 2 WR's and a recovering TE as our passing offense.

I blame the defense less than the offense for the KC debacle. No sustained drives. Three turnovers. The offense has to give the defense a chance to get a blow, and they did not respond to KC's scoring drives to get the lead at any point to force the Chiefs to throw more.

I agree with you that the coaching staff needs to use Collins differently, and more toughness at CB would be be big. I also hope all this Dobson drama comes to an end and he acts a like a pro and does his job.

Well no Browner so that's out. Doubt Dennard plays.

All i want to know right now...is Dobson playing....all i want right now is for this to happen.

THE GAME HASN'T BEEN PLAYED YET....jesus....this place sometimes

Mike G says very doubtful Dennard plays since he aggravated shoulder last week...not good...God i wish he had a fully healthy season THIS season...

Outside of Green their WRs don't scare me..but logan ryan does. Why not try Arrington again?

If the game plan allows Revis to play man, then I think that we'll be able to handle the Bengals passing game... My big concern, however, is that the coaching staff won't let him do so.

I agree about Dennard though.. It's a shame that he's already being set back by injury or some personal trouble, especially since he's one of the better picks that BB has made in recent memory.

So why isn't Browner playing again? I mean the team has only known for over a year now that he'd be coming back this week.

BB wants one more week of bend and break, soft 3/4 to see if the players can adjust ...they should call it the Pattycake Defense

Maybe we can hope that Dalton has an off day and the OL remembers that they're supposed to block so the Bengals don't **** all over us like we're Tubgirl.

Game shape is my guess and i could see why...played in preseason but how often are guy going full speed? I expected like 40% snaps for hime...hopefully we see that vs buff or the jets game..

And Andy Dalton is known to stink it up big time in prime time away games.

If Browner and Dennard both are not available, it is difficult to see why all of a sudden Belichick would trust Ryan in man coverage.

Hmm, no Dennard? no Browner? If they still insist on playing passive, off-man, zone read coverage, I will have to buy a wig... running out of hairs to pull.

I've predicted a Bengals blowout all week but the weather may play in our favor tomorrow. It's suppose to be fairly chilly. If it's windy as well, that could really make things interesting.

Still think we lose though. Hopefully I'm wrong.
