Until they win tomorrow, and then many will be back to predicting a 12-4 season. This doomsday panicking reminds me of the Gang Green board.

Only once a decade instead of four times a week. lol

KT really hasn't done anything in the NFL, so i am confused by the faux outrage. If he was so great he would have been on the field IMO.

I sometimes think belichick thinks its 1990 and you can win superbowls with guys like phil mcconkey as your top wide receiver....

Well, count me as one who is hoping that this waiver doesn't come back to bite us on the @ss later in the season.

Regarding the amount of roster moves the Pats have made.. they do this every year with the bottom of the roster.

I was a fan of him and his story, he was impressive the first half of his rooki season, and he was one of the rare young players to gain chemistry with Brady.
We all were. Why do you think this happened?

What!!! KT was waived!

There is no way KT makes it through waivers. He is significantly better than most wr3s in this league and even some 2s (Jets, Carolina etc).

This isn't a case like Edelman who was put on the PS and didn't have the clout to show up on teams radars. People have seen the tape on this guy and he really flashes significant promise.
When was Edelman on the PS?

well, guess Boyce gets to flash his 4.3 speed as a call up from the practice squad...wait...4.3 combine....5.3 game speed...check that thought...it should be clear by now that Aintnodola has pictures on somebody high up in the organization.

BB felt he was the worst WR on the roster. While he's been inconsistent, he isn't the worst WR in the NFL from snaps to production (Amendola). Lafell's ceiling has been maxed out as a WR3/depth type. IMO, it would have been better to keep KT as an inactive and hope he develops, even for 2015. BB disagrees.

2/3 of the WR prospects from 2013 have flamed out already in KT/Boyce. There is a lot of pressure on Dobson to develop because if he doesn't, we will enter 2015 with mediocrity at the position for the 3rd straight year.

I have no idea where Tyms fits in or if he does at all.

I agree.

Belichick judged that Thompkins was the worst of the receivers and not worthy of a roster spot.

I believe 2 of the FOUR prospects from last year have flamed out.

There is a lot of pressure on Dobson and Amendola, as there should be. They were brought in as the future last year. The signing of Edelman was just a minimum price signing.

Our base is now Edelman and LaFell. That's already as good a situation as last year. We now need more from the rest.

I think this is right:
Signing bonuses get to be amortized in the cap over the life of the contract. If the player is released and picked up on waivers than his remaining signing bonus counts against the cap that year. If he clears waiver than the team gets to spread it out over the next two years.

For instance, DA got a $6M signing bonus on a 5 year contract. NE takes a cap hit of $1.2M/year for the signing bonus. If they release him and he is picked up then they have to take the remaining ($4.8M) this year. If he clears waivers, then they can spread the $4.8 over the next two years. Something like that. So releasing him can have a big impact on this years remaining cap space.

Someone can chime in if I made a mistake.

Clarifications
Danny Amendola as a veteran is not subject to the waiver process until after the trade deadline passes later this month.
If released, his 2014 cap number would remain the same since he is eligible for termination pay. His 2015 cap number would go from $5.575 million to $3.6 million.

Probably in a simpler system he will catch on and excel . Sometimes I diont know what they are doing . Now both Boyce and KT from last yr are useless this year .

This will matter little to me as long as Amendola and Dobson produce. These were our major acquisitions. Boyce and Thompkins were a #4 and UDFA last year, shots in the dark.

The pats haven't won a superbowl in 10 year.. Maybe they should try and more simple system.. Worked for 10 other teams
