Rodney Harrison on WEEI Friday morning

Harrison's greatest moment as a Patriot actually came in the preseason. The Patriots were playing some shlock team that put a nasty late hit on Brady. The next series Harrison blitzed twice and annihilated their QB twice. Just laid him out.

After that there was no more chick-bleep hits on Brady. The team misses that.

Man! I forgot all about that!
Harrison is one of my favorite Patriots of all time. I loved him on the football field. I don't care for him much as a commentator because it seems like he's always hating on us now, but he's one of my all time favorite Patriots so I try to give him a pass a lot...

His criticisms are usually valid and on point though.

Eh, they are on local radio. They're not so much when he's sitting next too Dungy.
Telling Tom to "take off the skirt" after Suggs blatantly dove at his knee was pretty crappy.
He smiled obnoxiously after like he had it waiting in the holster and was trying to earn brownie points with his new colleagues. I don't know, I've seen him take some shots.

He also said Eli was the best quarterback in the league. In 2012. Just struck me as an FU

I don't remember him saying Eli was the best QB. I only remember him saying his team believes in him more than any other team believes in their QB when they need a game winning drive in the 4th quarter. I believe he had numerous 4th quarter GWDs that year.

Oh and there's this... Dungy looks like he's doing all he can to hold back a "Yes!" when he says it.
He's so inconsistent. After the Brady comeback against Denver last year he was on Patrick's show saying Brady is better and "Dungy will never admit it."

So basically he's kind of a troll now.

Probably a better way to put it is that Rodney is a slave to the moment, and so his football analysis is weak.

Well, that's definitely not something I think he's right about. To me Tom Brady will always be better than Peyton.

I was referring to his criticisms about the team in general though.

On the team in general, yeah, agree, he's okay, even if sorta obvious.

Yeah. Was it 2002 when they had a fumble and players stood there and looked at it? Included Faulk and probably some other quality guys, but there was just a dead spirit down the stretch. (Please correct me if I'm wrong).

You are right, it was 2002, a home loss to GB. I remember it because it happened right in line with where I was sitting that year, but more so because Steve Neal was the only Pat to realize it was a live ball (on a failed lateral); he came from midway across the field flying by a few of his teammates and damn near stole the thing out from a bunch of Packers. The fact that it was Neal on that play makes your point that much stronger, I think. This was the converted wrestler just starting to really get the game, and that play was an omen of the way he would continue to progress and be possibly their most underrated OL in thst decade, due to toughness more so I think than superior technical skill as a guard. As I mentioned in another thread, even if the season doesn't go real well for the Pats (though I'm still optimistic about the season), I'll be encouraged if I see enough of those types of effort/toughness plays from the younger players as the year progresses.

Boiling this thread down, I couldn't agree more thst this team needs to step up their physical, tough play; Rodney's style has been sorely missed, in my mind this year more than any other since he retired. Toward the end of last year when the running game emerged they got thst edge going. This year I think it needs to be the defense that sets this tone. A Bryan Cox hit in the first quarter Sunday could do wonders, but from whom would it come?

This team reminds me of the Pats team who went to NO and got humiliated. BB was miked up and said something to Tom on the sideline like, I just can't get them... I can't remember it.

He turned to Tom Brady and said:

"I just can't get this team to play like we need to."

Rodney has to make the most out of his opportunity, so he cannot be as vanilla as we would like him to be.. he needs to appeal to the demographic, and most folks dislike the Patriots nationwide and cannot wait for them to fail... pretty much like the local press...

Yes, that is Borges, Felger et all in the corner all salivating at the possibility of BB's demise..

Most of the folks involved with football commentating seem to have a short shelf life...

Weak compared to who? He's by far the best football analyst on television. I might not agree with everything he says, but he's one of only the former players that never afraid to call out a star in this league. There's a reason why Football night in America is the #1 pre game show in the country, and it sure as hell isn't because of Dungy.

Everybody but 11 gave up. From 12 to 77.

Sucks seeing the smallest guy on the field, not giving up, while the giants leave him for dead and walk away.....

Our OL is a bunch of pansies....

I believe that team was the Tennessee Tits.

EDIT: Confirmed...

Edelman is freaking awesome. Can't believe they actually let him go.

I'm sure he wasn't too happy seeing our o-line's pathetic attempt at recovering that fumble

Look at Edelman dive in there with 5 KC guys swarming him, as Solder and Vollmer just stand up and watch

Wish I could "dislike" the clip and not the post.

Disgraceful. Anyone who wears this uniform on the field is better than that.

The entire offensive line should be ashamed of themselves when they see that clip. Very EMBARRASSING and DISGRACEFUL.

I think we all know that Mankins would've dive in there. This pretty much sums up the state of the OLine right here. So much for Brady's 'abrupt' decline lol

Oh my God, I never noticed how awful this actually was. I mean, I saw it was bad, but wow, just wow.
They're doing some feeble, uninterested, passive little tap dance before Edelman even comes into view.

This was so weak it actually makes me think we want Incognito here to start sending Solder and Vollmer lol

Edelman's effort is always just outstanding.

Collinsworth just said he's one of his favorite players in the league. Coming from the announcer that does arguably the biggest prime time football game every week that's high praise.
