It's belichick.. How can you say that?

Easily. If he is getting cut and he injure himself, then the Pats can't cut him without an injury settlement. If he is being traded and he gets injured, it can kill the trade. If a player is being removed from the team for any reason, he isn't practicing.

I just don't understand why belichick wouldn't just tell us right there...

this team is so dysfunctional.

I think things are just getting started.....I fear a slow motion train wreck

What if the offensive line is jaded and will only respond to a QB change?

What if the only thing that can help is a mobile QB?

expecting a bloodbath when we lose sunday night. can imagine the crowd booing the team off the field after the first series three and out. maybe a few " we want jimmy " chants. that will be a new low for brady.
i'll just turn my tv off when it gets ugly. :(

Agreed. Belichick wants CIN to prepare for both Dobson and Thompkins, no matter what the situation is.

First, it walkthrough day and no practice tomorrow. All the preparation is done.

Second, if the Pats cut or trade Dobson at the end of today, how would practicing him today change how the Bengals would prepare. Do you think the Bengals are monitoring Twitter and see that Dobson isn't at practice and changing the game plan on the fly in practice?

If it was early in the week and Dobson was active the last two weeks, you might have a point. But I think the Bengals weren't preparing for Dobson or Thompkins all that much anyway.

I don't think BB is going to say anything all that important. But, perhaps to make it so players can't answer any questions about what he's going to say during media availability after practice.

I've got a sneaky feeling...

Like when the Saux brought in Ricky Henderson

I don't think that will happen.....there will be booing but I think Brady is still sacred

Nahhhh.......can't start singling them out either

patricia!!:D

our defense plays so conservative/scared. i wasn't surprised when the chiefs easily marched down the field and scored on their first possession. seems like anyone can march up and down the field against us. even cassell did it, only for one series though before he started throwing interceptions..
mayo, vince, browner, revis, collins, mccourty, the defense at the very least should be decent...

I just don't see anything like a trade or release or IR coming. Belichick is not the type to give any sort of tease or heads up that something like that is coming. All I really expect is some sort of text statement that minimally expands on what he said today, denying the report. (Edit: Not that BB has a long history of addressing errant media reports either.)

The Chiefs punted on their first possession.

Whew. That was close. I thought a trade or IR was coming.

Nice job by Belichick. Ridiculous how much traction this story has gotten. And of course the Globe-run boston.com has this as the lede headline right now:

Advice for Dobson: Don't Become a Pain In the Ass (the PITA Principle)
Boston sports has been littered with high-maintenance athletes who either were—or were not—worth the headaches, though it is worth noting that almost all of them eventually wore out their welcome. So Aaron, please avoid the PITA Principle.

I'm sure Dobson appreciates the advice. Also: time for me to stop visiting boston.com.

STATEMENT FROM PATRIOTS HEAD COACH BILL BELICHICK
"In my year and a half with Aaron Dobson, he has always been respectful to me and to the rest of the coaching staff. He has never once been argumentative or confrontational. The suggestion and reporting that his playing time was in any way the result of a ‘loud disagreement’ with a coach is completely false."

Good for Belichick to step up for the player. His name got unfairly smeared or given too much praise depending on how much you like/hate McDaniels.

So instead he was benched because he's not good enough to crack the game day lineup. Great -- he's experiencing the Patriots famous 2nd year right of passage -- 'I've lost all my talent and will never get it back'
