Today is the 1st day I have actually believed that Brady may end his career with another team.

Oh my god, this.

Luckily, Garopollo already has potential, but still. Whose to say the Pats will even build around him that well?
Maybe it because I am still sobering up from last night but I am just taking the AA approach to the team – 1 day at a time, at least until they start to roll one way or another.

It will take time and money to rebuild the offensive roster. The Gronk injuries, the Hernandez murders, the Amendola suckitude, and the Solder and Vollmer regressions were unforeseen and unforeseeable. In 2012, everyone was praising BB the GM for setting up Brady with 2 uncoverable young weapons, 2 exciting young backs, and elite bookend tackles. Two years later, what seemed like a promising young core is in a shambles. Obviously, that is going to hurt whoever is playing QB. But, that doesn't mean that Brady should be here till he's 40 or more and it doesn't mean that BB has failed Brady by not giving him enough weapons or protection as it wasn't for a lack of trying.

Gronk and Hernandez were great picks. Problem is one is gone an the other may never be the same player again.

Amendola was famous for being injured. What happened last year? Missed a bunch of game and was injured every game of last year. Now he does not fit in this offense.

Great that they drafted Thompkins and Dobson but it is insane that BB seemed to have the idea that these guys as major offensive weapons. These guys cannot even get on this field. As for the o-line. They are young and bb trades Brady's best line player.

Bb is cutting players, letting play walk to FA and signing value players. Over the past 5 years I don't feel he has done as much as he could have to improve this team.

Now I have to be thankful, because we would in no way be where we've been without BB all these years, but I'm really starting to realize he's kind of a thankless douche. To BB:

Brady made your career what it is. As you did with Brady.

You two are a partnership for that.

Brady has given you 15 years of excellence.

And at the end of his career, one of his final chances for a ring, you give him pathetic receivers, pathetic RB's, a beyond pathetic OL, and on top of that you spend a 2nd rounder on his potential successor.

It's like the goal this year was not for a ring but to put an end to the Brady era.

Face it, BB's only thinking about himself for the long term. He knows Kraft won't fire him. He just wants to usher in a new QB and a new era as soon as possible so that he has a better outlook for his job in the longterm.

If I saw what I am posting now a few weeks ago I would've thought "When did I become a troll?" But it's gotten really bad that quick.

Those of you talking about not letting Belichick shop for the groceries anymore need a serious reality check. The man has won 3 Super Bowls, 5 AFC Championships and had 13 winning seasons in the salary cap era and we have the 5th youngest team in the league. We lose one game and all of a sudden you want to blow it all to hell because your binky (Brady) is on the decline and isn't surrounded by All Pros?

It's September people. Come back in December and then you can evaluate what he's done. And even if he has an off year. Guess what, the man has earned the right!

Belichick will be here long after Brady is gone and when he finally does leave is the day you can jump off the Zakim Bridge because he is the one behind the dynasty.

No matter what happens, I am thankful for everything he has done for this team. Constantly restructuring his contract to help keep and build a good team for a shot at winning the SB. Always blaming himself and the team as a whole for a loss rather than any specific players. Praising players other than himself and the whole team during wins unlike others who praise themselves. A class act on and off the field.

If he complains about the FO not making good decisions or asks to be traded, I wouldn't blame him at all. With the cards he has been dealt I too would be frustrated and angry.

But I just don't see him complaining publicly or maybe even privately. He loves NE and the fans as well as Belichick and Kraft. I just don't see him complaining about how he's being treated. He will just go on and do his best to help the team win.

You could not wish for a better QB, leader, and human being. He will always be a Patriot and the best player we have ever had no matter what happens.

As soon as they drafted a QB in the 2nd round I started to think that 2017 would be the last year for Brady on the Patriots roster.
Well, yea... he'll be what, 40?

Oh enough already. Contrary to a popular line of thinking on this board, neither the world nor Gillette Stadium will implode at the moment that Tom Brady ceases to be QB on the NEP. Life goes on. Thank God we have a GM that is able to see beyond the end of his nose. They developed Hoyer, they developed Mallett, and now, they have a chance to develop a guy with the talents most suited to their offense. No reason to think that JG won't develop into a fine starter that can be a part of complete team that can continue to compete for Super Bowls. I remember the late model Dan Marino--the quarterback that in my opinion Brady most resembles. He was a statue in the pocket that was constantly frustrated at the lack of protection and miscommunication with receivers. The Dolphins did not plan for his replacement, kept him around too long and suffered because of it. I for one am not interested in going down that route.

Your right, life will go on after Brady.... but I am going to tell you something that you may not agree with, but it will happen.

If Brady leaves, and the Pats fall on hard time - a couple of 4 or 5 wins season the waiting list for
season tickets will disapear and they will struggle to fill the stadium.

I have had season tickets since 1979, so I have seeen the 1981 2-14, 1990 1-15 & 1992 2-14 seasons.
At the time the tickets were cheap in the old statim. The 2001 season, my tickets only cost $31
and the same ticket today in the new staduim is $117.

When the tickets were cheap, we struggled to fill the stadium during the lean years.
People are not going to pay that type of money year after year for a inferior product.

They may stick with the team for a season or two, but if the struggle lasts over a period
of time, it could get ugly.

I remember a urban legend from the late 80's.....
A guy had two tickets to a Patriots game and got called into work. He called around and nobody
wanted the tickets. The guy went to work at a restaurant and parked near the door. He put two
tickets under his windshield wipers and went into work. When he came out he looked to see if
someone had taken the tickets. To his suprise the ticketes were still there along with 4 other tickets.

I remember the 1980's when the Celtics had a 50 year waiting list for season tickets.
The Big three retired and they moved into a new arena and there was no more waiting list.
They even dropped the price of some tickets to $10, just to try to fill an empty arena.

You may say no, but it will happen.

Like I said in the other thread, it's still very early. I think it's hard to truly assess Brady right now with all the changes and deficiencies in front of him. Last year at this point the offense was no better but luckily they played a much easier schedule before the Cincy game so they got away with it. When Gronk came back and was going full speed they had things sorted out with a few great outings including a fifty burger against the Steelers. Unfortunately he got hurt again and the offense went back to mediocre aside from Blount's two game explosion. Not looking good right now but not jumping to any conclusions just yet, I will revisit my thoughts in week eight/nine.

The reality is that it's incredibly rare for players to stay with one teams these days, even superstarts. Did Colts fans ever picture Peyton wearing a different uniform? I'm sure not. Or how about Favre?

There is always a very realistic chance that Brady plays a year or two with another team. I'm not sure it's something to get to upset about though. After all, no one seems to mind that Paul Pierce no longer plays for the Celtics. Pierce and Brady will always be Boston sports icons.

What's ironic is how many bashed the preachings of one Mike Felger and now virtually everyone is saying the same things about the operations of the patriots. Bad drafting, not spending to the cap, cutting guys like Tommy Kelly for no sensible reason, replacing Welker with Amendola (vomit)...the list goes on and on.

I'm not terribly worried about the defense but the offense makes me depressed.

If BB is not going to give Brady, who is on the last few years of his career, suitable protection and weapons I have major concerns about what will happen when JG takes over. I have no issue planning for the future but when is enough enough? Why not worry this year and and not 2020 just yet?
This has been going on for years. BB stripped the bone dry. No meat left. It's year after year. It's not just Brady. We get a good player, and they pull the "value" BS...... Woody, Welker, Blount, Mankins, Kelly, .....and the ones who stayed after being showed the "take it or leave" angle.
It's wore out its effectiveness. It's pissing off the players and finally the fans. And before we hear the "stop complaining, your spoiled" BS. Remember this has been building for years. And don't even get me started on that cheap, sugar daddy, loose lipped Kraft. This great organization has been ruined by crap. It sux. ......Ok. I feel better now. Sorry

I think Brady should start making some noise and voicing his displeasure very loudly. What are they going to do? Fire Him? The guy has all the money he could ever need.

As has been discussed many times now, Tommy Kelly asked for his release. Belichick didn't "cut him for no sensible reason."

Kelly thought that he saw the writing on the wall that he would not be playing as much (based on preseason snaps...of all things), which wouldn't allow him to reach his playing time incentives. Based on this hunch, he asked his agent to facilitate his release from the team.

One can argue that Belichick shouldn't have asked Kelly for a restructure in the first place, and they'd have a damn good argument, but to say that "Belichick cut Tommy Kelly for no sensible reason" isn't true at all.

We really don't know if Kelly jumped the gun or if he wasn't going to see as much time as he thought, but Belichick shouldn't have asked him to restructure in the first place. That's what screwed things up.

...and this the whole problem. Yes, when a guy is past his prime, you get "some" value. But, we generally get rid of players at their "Most" value. When "WE" need it. Enough already. We get rookie recievers to "rebuild" with and they don't even see the freakin field. Solder? Wendel? WTF is going on? AND if we get rid of Brady to move to another team and play well, that might just be the straw that breaks the monkeys back.

We've been saying this for 10 years though.

And last year

Exactly. Felger has been saying this for some time now but many people always said "shut up, 3 rings herp derp".

And yeah, like a few others said, Brady probably told Dilfer and Steve Young what he felt. There's even pictures of Brady talking with those two on the field before the game, and this is the first time i've seen a national network call out Bill and Kraft. NFL Network's Sterling Sharpe and Donnavon McNabb later on followed suit today as well.
