After showing what he showed last night ... pretty easy to see why Mallett was shown the door. Good call on that one.

If the Pats go up big in a game I'd expect to see them do what they didn't do with Mallett... let Brady have a rest and Jimmy G get some live game experience.... and hopefully for more than just 3 token handoffs...

If the Patriots get up in a big game? I wouldn't hold my breath hoping for that. Let's just hope the Patriots offense can score more than 24 points against an opponent first.

Well, yeah. Vikings game notwithstanding...

Still more impressive than anything Mallett showed in the regular season

Mallett wasn't exactly given the opportunities. I have been, perhaps, the most anti-Mallett person on the board, but let's not get crazy here. Mallett has 4 career pass attempts.

Umm, they didn't do that late in the fourth against Minnesota. I'd certainly like to see him get more opportunities (though in more optimal circumstances).

Yeah, a rookie QB went 6/7 (with one blatant drop) in his first regular season action on the road with a bad OL and led the team down the field, no big deal.

Picture Geno in that situation last year, or right now.

Yes, Garrapolo did look good last night. In fact, it was a breath of fresh air for those of us that watched to the end (I alwasy go down with the ship but last night was VERY tempting not to).

They need to get the ball moving first

Crazy how Bledsoe ends up winning this ironically

Enter Jimmy G, our new signal caller, never seen this coming, it makes sense now that head scratching second round pick

The current situation is exactly why the franchise needed to have a succession plan in place. Also seems they have picked a good one.

Only idiots want Brady cut or benched now, but the fact we can see a future beyond him is a good thing.

Beats something like the 49'rs turning to crap after Young retired

He'd be the greatest jets quarterback of all time. He'd probably get a statue made outside of Giants stadium.

Jimmy has one of the fastest releases in the NFL and can move around in the pocket.

With a decent/good O-Line, Brady would still be great. Put Brady on the Cardinals/Texans right now and they're automatic elite SB contending teams.

HOWEVER, and curse me out all you want, with the putrid JOKE of an offensive line we have, a young, fast, quick QB like Jimmy has a higher chance of succeeding than a slow, immobile QB whose strengths are reading the defense as opposed to physical ability.

The pocket is going to collapse all season, Jimmy has a better chance of making something out of that than Brady.

A backup Qb moved the ball a little bit in garbage time. Stop the presses.

down 34-7.......Brady throws a bad pick 6 with 10:44 left, .........was KC still playing tough defense?

Now its 41-7......the VERY next play from scrimmage at 10:28 as JAG starts leading them down the field is when Andy Reid tells his team to let up cause it just then became "garbage time?"......even though his 1st stringers are still in?

Andy Reid must be as much of an anti brady troll as me.......he's out to make brady look bad and jimmy g look good........

It's true, you think KC wanted to get shown up by a rookie QB ? They were coming after him on every pass play. If they didn't care, they wouldn't have been able to sack Garappolo. They played a full 60 minutes.

One thing that has to be said for Garoppolo: he did a lot more in his first preseason in the passing game than any other rookie QB the Pats have had since 2000.

He had five touchdowns, four of 10+ yards and two from outside the red zone (33 to Dobson, 4 to Lafell, 15 to Develin, 26 to Tyms, 11 to McCuller) on about 80 passes. All of the other rookie QBs combined had five passing TDs, on about three times as many passes.

Probably won't happen because of the AFC East, but if the Patriots are eliminated from playoff contention then Jimmy G should instantly become the starter. We have to hit the reset button at that point.
