BELICHICK IS TO BLAME.

Wow, I thought I was the only one that felt like this, but I am glad I am not alone !
This has been going on a few years now. The reason no one questioned Belichick in the past was that Tom was still doing a lot with less and people kept giving BB a pass because of the past . What he has fielded this year is an embarrassment to the organizations and to the Kraft's. Brady might be declining (who doesn't at 37), but he is still one of the better QB's and to not give him decent weapons is shameful and so disappointing.
One of the biggest problems is that BB is also the GM. Maybe Kraft needs to strip him of that title (it won't happen but its a nice thought). That has hurt this organization for years but its only now that we see the extent of the damage it has done. To sit KT and Dobson when we have no one is ludicrous!!!
This last off season, Eric Decker, Hakim Nicks, E. Sanders , Steve Smith ( I know no one here likes him ) to name a few became free agents and we couldn't get one of them ??? Is this because no one wants to play for BB and we are considered a cheap team or is it that we didn't even try? We got Lafell instead and stuck to Amendola???
I am so upset right now. I can take losses if we put in the effort but yesterday there was none from anyone , no fire from Brady as we are so used to seeing . Something is seriously wrong with this team and it all point back to BB. He needs to be held accountable and I am tired of his same lip service after every loss. I will still be back next week to root for them but it is probably going to be a long season. I hope I am wrong.

I posted this in another thread, but I think it also fits here. I'll merge the edit:

Lacking toughness - Spikes allowed to walk, Mankins traded
Lacking run stoppers and LB depth - Spikes allowed to walk
Lacking OL talent - Mankins traded, nothing but rookies and 'rookies' brought in
Lacking TE talent - a WR listed at a TE is brought in, scrubs compete for TE2 before that
Lacking WR talent - A WR3/WR4 is brought in
Lacking DT depth and health with multiple players post-op - Second best interior DL allowed to walk, rookie recovering from his second ACL surgery is brought in
Lacking DE depth - Jake Bequette is gonna save the day!
Lacking an S2 - Chung is brought back
Don't trust your RB1 - Let the guy who took over the RB1 job last year just walk away

These are some strong points of blame on BB. The last one seems to get talked about the least here but it makes me insane. Blount was the arguably best player on the entire team down the stretch last year.

OT. blocking the op's obnoxious animated gif makes this thread actually readable.

WHY DID WE SIGN REVIS TO PLAY OFF-MAN/ZONE!?!!?!?!??!?!?!?!

I would take Jim Harbaugh over Belichick easily at this point. I wouldn't even hesitate. His attitude is exactly what this team needs.

What has Harbaugh done that Belichick hasn't? Where are all the 49er Super Bowl rings during his tenure?

To think that we had a chance to draft Houston but picked Solder, Ras - I, and Vereen instead.

I remember a few of us wanted Houston but the argument was that he didn't fit the measurables of what BB wanted as a OLB.

Belichick should go. He's too cheap. He's suppose to be the defensive genius and mastermind and his defenses have sucked since 2009. Just because he's wearing more rings than Harbaugh, it doesn't mean he's coaching his defenses better than Harbaugh. He got those rings nearly ten years ago. If Harbaugh had Brady on offense, instead of that overrated weasel looking Rapernick, the 49ers would've probably added a couple more rings to the collection by now. Josh McDaniels and his predictable play-calling should join him.

2 out of the 3 super bowl teams started 2-2 and 1-3.....neither looked like they were going anywhere

Bulky and slow

Folks are delusional if they think this is the end for BB, when Kraft bought and invested in this team there has been steady growth... last year this team increased in value by 44%, that is a nice return. Mr. Kraft is a business man who is also a Pats fan...

BB has made some questionable decisions, but Spikes is not one of them... he has had trouble breaking into the line up, in the first four games he has 5 tackles and 8 assists... he has been reduced into a one down back.

Very short memory of 13 winning seasons in a row for this franchise, which is unheard of in the salary cap era...

This thread is the most insane, toxic hellstew that I have read on patsfans for a long time.

You have a team that was in 3 AFC Championship games in a row, has missed the post-season in over 10 years only once and there are people here who seriously think that BB needs to go ?

Are you ****ing crazy ? How spoiled are you all ? There are fans in the league who have never seen their team in the post season in their entire life and here it is not acceptable to start with 2-2 ?

The atmosphere this season in here has been seriously crazy..

I thought the Belichick comments related by Tirico and Gruden were very telling regarding how the rules have limited preseason practice/workouts so much that the reps Bill normally needs to determine his depth chart are now reached several weeks into the actual season rather than the end of the preseason. It appeared last night, in terms of the inactives, the game plan and the in-game substitutions/benchings that Belichick was still treating the game as a long-term evaluation tool as much as anything. Starting all the rookies, benching Ryan and Solder for their mistakes, etc., looked to me like Bill was thinking "2-2 through 4 isn't the end of the world, but failing to determine what we have here before too long could be bad." It also probably doesn't help that this year might have more unanswered questions at more positions than usual.

Anyway, I strongly suspect you guys will beat the only undefeated team left in the AFC come this Sunday night, and most (never would say "all" because I understand the nature of sports forums and fans) of you will be changing your tune.

I agree that BB sees the first few weeks of the season as an extended "preseason". I would guess that to Belichick it doesn't matter whether we go into the playoffs 14-2 or 9-7. He wants his team to be at its best come December/January, because in the end this is what counts.

Nobody cares that the Ravens barely got into the playoffs two years ago mostly on a fluke 4th down 30 yard run by Rice. They started to click when it counts, and this is what will be remembered. All the adversity and struggle throughout just makes for an even better story.

So in a nutshell, I would say that Belichick definitely would sacrifice a few games in the beginning when he thinks it will help create the most competitive roster down the line. The only question is if this time he dug himself in to deep and will run out of time before he finds the right combination.

Felger pointed out the roster makeup for last night and it is becoming very clear BB expected a totally different type of game and built his offense accordingly.
Last night:
5 RBs
3 TEs
3 WRs
BB wanted to run...BB deployed a run heavy roster....but the game got out of hand almost immediately....and because of his roster deployment, he didn't have targets to play catch up. Classic overcompensation....aka...No plan B available. That's scary that the coach can't carry a balanced roster into a game to account for all possibilities.

With those players you could employ a heavy pass offense as well or even a mix.... Felger is a fool.

"Felger said", since when has he been a reliable source??...

He is just another mediot who cares about nothing but the ratings and his big bucks. Make sure you follow him on Twitter and give him a big facebook like, that is how he measures success...

Try making some sense instead of just typing. First.....Felger wasn't wrong, look at who dressed last night. 5 RBs, 3 TEs, 3WRs. Second...the pass heavy offense you think was possible maxes out with 3 WR...because that was all that was available...get it? Simple math. And all pass catchers, WRs and TEs are possession receivers except Lafell. So the big come back would have to be accomplished in 5 yard chunks.
Felger is way over your head on this one....ouch

I seriously doubt Belichick didn't know the game plan. Anyone who thinks just tells McDaniels to go off and develop a gameplan and Belichick gets to see it when we do on game day is kidding themselves. Belichick is actively involved in the development of the game plan and if he doesn't like the plays McDaniels is calling he makes him change what they are doing. Listen to Belichick when he was mic'd up last week. He told McDaniels to change to game plan and run at the Raiders.

I just said Josh should be fired tonight.

Someone replied it won't happen because he's "Belichick's guy."

I said all the more reason to sh#tcan him, so Belichick can see how it feels for a change.

It's time to redirect this conversation where it belongs. Through out this entire nightmare, the Rutger JAG's, the Welker breakdown in relations, not resigning Blount, questionable drafting, putting the GOAT behind a peewee offensive line, fielding Amendola over Thompkins in Arrowhead, and TRADING MANKINS right before the season starts, I have one question:

How the hell has Lord Belichick escaped this conversation while the whole world dumps on the guy who has been covering up his BS for the last 6 seasons?

Josh should be gone tomorrow. He sucked as soon as he got here, running his gimmicky BS meant for trash teams like Tebow's Broncos while having some of the best offensive players in football, and it's been a DRASTIC decline from that day on.

Agree 100% with your take. Josh McDaniels has never impressed me. Why can't young receivers ever be assimilated into this offense?? Why do they refuse to play smash mouth running situational football??
3rd and 2 and they run a sweep out of a shotgun formation?? WHAT???
It's coaching (McDaniels), it's drafting (Belichick) and it's the lack of patience = ego of the QB.

Tom Brady is 37 years old. They need to build an offense with "skills" to compensate for his declining abilities. Instead the Patriots have gone the other way.
Bizarre!!

And speaking of coaching how does that defense (the supposed strength of this team) lays an egg like last night??? It's inexcusable.

I guess that is on the defense then, which seems to be getting forgotten in all this offensive mess.

I think my biggest concern about Belichick right now is that he is just clueless on how to fix things and just throwing crap against the wall. Four week, four different o-lines. And the line that started the game didn't finish the game because he is pulling people. That is a coaching issue.

I have never seen Belichick act like this. He would usually choose five guys and stick with them. This o-line is never going to get better just mixing and matching all game.

Except 2nd play from scrimmage ended this theory..... Can't count on sticking to the run
