Bruschi chat wrap - Lower your expectations

Et Tu Bruschi?

LOL! As much of a optimistic person (homer) I am, I would advise people to lower their expectations at this point. It is a long season and we have seen a lot of teams limp into the playoffs and win the Super Bowl over the last ten years. And the Pats can certainly win this division with no good teams in it, but right now they are not good enough to win a more competitive division, but a month from now it could be completely different.

Bruschi is saying what a lot of us have been saying from the beginning. Welcome to the party, Tedy. What took you so long?

Bruschi's a little late especially on the second answer.

The current team just isn't very good. The offensive line still sucks, and even when they keep Brady upright the receivers are getting no separation and he's showing alarmingly reduced accuracy. Brady is playing bad football. This is one legitimately one of the worst offenses in the league, and the defense isn't good enough to cover for it. They're talented enough to win with good coaching, but the coaching has been uniformly bad as well. They just suck in every facet of the game, basically.

I'm starting to worry about Belichick the coach. The NFL has changed a lot in just the last few years, and he doesn't seem to be adapting well. Complain all you want about the lack of full-pads practices in the offseason, but everyone else has adjusted and we have to too. Maybe that means simplifying the players' assignments, but whatever the solution is I don't have a ton of faith that Belichick will work it out.

Maybe they figure things out as the season goes along and we make the playoffs as a 9-7/10-6 winner of a weak division, but I don't see how we can reasonably hope for more this season. I expect us to be below .500 after week 10.

I still full expect then to win division. Bills who are in first just benched their starting QB. We wil division. But dont think we go far unless they pick up play mid season and end of year

I'd rather miss the playoffs than make it and suffer another defeat at the hands of Manning. If for no other reason than the fact that I don't want the pro-Manning people to have more ammunition for the Brady/Manning debate. Although Brady is certainly trying hard to give them just that with his current play.

You keep saying something like this all the time. Why are you here ? you should be happy things are going the way they are.
Bash the team and what not but why just put in 'your' opinion about why you dont want them in the playoffs.? And if you really dont want them to be there now, I assume you should be happy and not follow them anymore considering how they are playing.

I want them to be competitive and to actually field a team that is capable of going deep into the playoffs. This D is nowhere near championship caliber and this O is nowhere near NFL caliber. I doubt it would even cut it in college.

So yes, if this team cannot contend for a SB, why should I want them to make the playoffs? Winning a SB is the only thing that matters. We could have missed the playoffs the last 7 years and the result would have been the same: 0 SBs.

Ok. So then you dont care anymore how they play this season and rooting for them to lose every game right ? because right now you dont see a SB team so might as well tank it.

I have lowered my expectations as well...if they get better, it will be a good surprise and if not, always next year...

At this point, I think Pats will win the weak AFC east division but the first playoff game is most likely it especially if someone like the Chargers (assuming Broncos win that division) is coming for the wildcard game.
