Chandler Jones Is a Mediocre Player

I think he is a little above average and has great physical talent but I think he disappears in too many big games to be considered elite. Just look at last years afc championship game, no pressure on Peyton.

So will this thread title change back if Jones has a good game next Sunday? Is CIN a quality opponent?

Never said he was elite. He is a solid player.

A solid player does not get destroyed 2 games out of 4 in the run game.
A solid player does not completely dissapear in the playoffs.

He can't play alone and unless I'm wrong he should not be the only player to sack the QB.

Who played well last night or in Miami on defense? So are you saying the Pats have no solid players?

He got burnt out last year because they over used him.

I really hate this board after a loss.

Chandler looked great on the first series. I think Patricia then pulled him aside and said that's not the way we play defense here (aggressively). Chandler then went into a shell for the rest of the game. That said, Ninko is horrid.

He still needs to improve against the run. The Chiefs purposely and blatantly ran to the left all day yesterday. Eric Fisher owned him.

The refs also let Eric Fisher hold him all game. There were a couple of games where Fisher literally almost ripped his head off pushing back his face mask with no flags (and Ryan got one for grazing the face mask of a the receiver). Jones needs to start pointing out to the refs that he is being held so much. Otherwise, he will consistently get neutralized by fragrant holding.

Bad excuses. So if other players sucked, he can suck too? And then you call him solid. That's a good one.

He did suck against the run last night. Overall though, I think he does fairly well in that area though.

Dwight Freeney is one of the NFL's all-time great sack masters. An elite player by just about any measure. And yet he completely disappeared in many playoff games. To wit:

1/11/04, at KC - 0 sacks, 0 tackles, 0 assists
1/18/04, at NE - 0 sacks, 0 tackles, 0 assists
1/13/07, at Bal - 0 sacks, 0 tackles, 0 assists
1/21/07, vs NE - 0 sacks, 0 tackles, 0 assists
2/04/07, vs Sea - 0 sacks, 0 tackles, 0 assists

I mean, in quite a few of his playoff games he had absolutely NO impact whatsoever.

It happens, even to the great ones.

He is solid. There is no denying that unless you don't understand football.

He was misused in Miami. Everyone said that. He sucked last night, but so did Mayo, McCourty, Revis, and Wilfork who are all solid players. And so did Hightower who has been solid all year. By your definition, Brady, Gronkowski, and Edelman aren't solid players either because they all sucked in both games too.

I agree with regard to the holding. What's even weirder is that the announcers were complimenting Fisher on his ability to get away with holds.

In the past I used to swear at my TV about uncalled holding plays, but now I just let them go.

EVERYTHING was wrong last night......the whole team sucked

It happens.....the only thing bothering me is the collective nonchalant approach the team appears to be taking

Bad excuse to cover up his bad play. Exposed by Andy Reid, who went after him all night long. In Miami, as in KC, he was easily blown off the ball 1 on 1. 1 sack here and there certainly does not equal the negative plays he has allowed.

Atleast he is still better than your binky Derek Wolfe. Who would be solving all our problems right now. Amirite?

He just listed 10 players who all by your definition aren't solid players. If that's sounds like horseshit, it's because your barometer is off. Chandler Jones is most certainly solid, by every imaginable definition. I just wish he was more consistent and displayed better technique and awareness game in and game out.

I blame Madden games.
