Bengals Week - Things could get ugly

Despite the mediocrity that mans the WR position, I think it is blind optimism to suggest a guy who made a few grabs against scrubs in preseason and has not played in a month is going to immediately leapfrog not only Boyce on the PS but someone on the active roster. They will do nothing for a week because they have an exemption. After that he will be most likely released. The more realistic question is whether you would release someone from the PS to sign him.

You do realize that the Patriots are benching two guys each week. Tyms cannot be any worse than inactive.

Pick any of the receivers except Edelmen. Cut any of them.

And what makes you so confident that he is an improvement over all of them ? His 12 catches in the two preseason games where he showed up ?

And please form a reasonable argument because the plays any of the receivers that you want to get rid of made last year were more impressive and against a higher level of competition than what Tyms did.

Being active would be an improvement over Dobson and Thompkins, don't you think?

Make an argument that he could be worse than inactive....last year is last year.....Lets talk about this year....ya know?

The way the team reacts to the KC debacle will give us a pretty good indicator of where this season will go.

Time to step up..

Agreed and while there is a lot of conspiracy going on around here I'm curious as to how the coaching staff will respond to this. Are they going to learn from their mistakes or stay intentionally ignorant doing whatever the hell they want despite what the game calls for?

You are avoiding giving an explanation for why you think Tyms would be an improvement. Tyms showed less than Quentin Sims last year in preseason. You remember Quentin Sims ? If not, then this is my point exactly.

If for some arbitrary reason NFL-level performance last year doesn't count, then I will just say that 'preseason is preseason' lets talk about the NFL.. ya know ?

If you want to have a discussion just tell me what you see in Tyms what the others are missing. Otherwise lets just ignore each other because this will go nowhere.

Well the offense obviously needs some sort of change, he cannot be any worse than inactive. Neither Dobson or Thompkins are making plays.

Are you suggesting that they should just stick with what they have been doing?

What gives you the sense that the status quo will work?

The offense has been terrible through 4 games. We are now moving into the part of the season that defines a team....

Honestly, I just don't see Tyms being any better at anything than Dobson, KT or LaFell. I don't think it is fair yet to judge Dobson because we don't know how much of is inactivity is still based on recovery/getting up to speed. If he is fully healthy but can't get on the active roster on gameday then it is truely concerning. However, given his supposed upside there is no way he will be sacrificed.

LaFell is slowly starting to make strides into the right direction and has ST value. So again, I don't think that Tyms can leapfrog him. Now KT is on the verge and the only thing he has going for him is that he has some chemistry with Brady and already proved last year that he can get it done but not consistently. Also he has no ST value.

So if anything, KT could be the odd man out. Now, all of that being said.. do you really think replacing KT with Tyms would improve our roster ?

Personally, I _hope_ that Wright will emerge sooner or later and that Dobson finally gets over his injury issues. This alone would jump start the offense. I think this would make a bigger difference than replacing a WR4/5 with another WR4/5

What is Amendola doing to earn his paycheck? He seems to be an Edelman clone without the catches. Is his cap hit big enough to have to keep him?

Am I missing something or does BB admit a mistake, swallow the $$$ lost and move on.

How about a trade for a player of need in the next 4 weeks ???

Maybe it's just a knee jerk reaction on my part but it's obvious some changes have to be made soon.

Let's try to keep our heads up. A good week at practice and you never know. I wouldn't count it as a lose yet.

What's a good week of practice if you going to SIT HEALTHY People? This madness have to STOP BB!

don't bet against the pats......ever

the pats were just as lifeless as they were ineffective last night.

the question is whether this team is really like that....this team is in need of emotion, and if they don't have it, it is time to turn the page

That's Bull, with those game day roster moves we have seen lately and the musical cheers O-Line Cincy is going to tear this team a new one. Cinci have Two capable TE's and a very good pass catching RB who will play catch with this Defense.

My score for this week will be Bengals 30 Patriots 6.

The only real thing that gets ugly is the heartless play......going all the way back to fairbanks, when the team crashed in a blaze of glory, somehow it was still awesome......then ehrhardt sucked......then meyer was great and berry was ok for awhile but then sucked along with rust and macpherson......parcells was great, carroll lost control and BB was great while he had the right kind of players on the roster.

I think what has gotten lost is that guys like Parcells and BB brought guys long who 'got it' based on what they wanted in a previous situation. The problem for BB now is that those guys don't exist unless he changes addresses......he then gets to pursue his favorite guys from here and leaves his mistakes behind

jus' my theory

if the pats show up to play, they won't be torn anything.......they may not win, but if they play with some emotion, they'll have a chance.....I'll take the emotion at this point even if it costs a few 15-yarders

You know that Eifert is on short term IR right ?

We all know the pats rarely lose 2 in a row...I expect them to come out very strong next week and take care of business even with all their issues. This will show what they are made of.

S o me one has to get mad and a angry and fired up for this game

BTM- Not some ONE has to get mad and angry and fired up....

EVERY one has to :)

Sounds like a lot of people are going to have some free time come sunday night.

This is not the same Pats team as in years past. We're not even as good as were were last year. We're worse. Much much worse.

I can't see any scenario in which we win this game.

No, I'll be watching. But I'm sort of a masochist at times. I fully expect us to lose big, unfortunately. Cincy is arguably the best team in the AFC.
