As much as I'm glad that lovefest is finally over it was kinda sad in a way...because I was thinking about the not too distant future when it's a certain Patriot's turn to say goodbye... Can't speak for how Yankee fans are feeling today in the first morning of the post Jeter era but I can imagine it's not far off from how we'll all feel when Tom's time comes.

Say what you want about Jeter but it is kinda cool that his career went wire to wire with one team. I hope Tom's does too.

And I hope he gets a Jeter style retirement tour just to rub it in to the Patriot haters faces... :D

Always respected Jeter but loved to hate him. Kind of nauseous from the weekend and am glad it's over as well.

I'd hold my breath on any kind of warm send off from Jets fans. I don't think there is much respect for the game or it's history over there.

Derek Cheater faked getting hit by a pitch and acted like he was hurt. Eff him, and eff the Yankmees.
I'm glad that he's finally gone. Good riddance.

LOL yeah I liked how everyone made him out to be this paragon of class and respect.. I guess they conveniently forgot about that part. Also cringed hearing Fenway chant for him... must have been all the MFY fans.

But still think it's cool seeing someone like that complete his career with one team. That's rare in sports today. May Tom do the same.

I wish Bill appreciated Brady too; instead, he surrounds him with worthless trash, including his OC.

He'll get the same feeling I have for Jeter from the whole wide USA other than New England...Good riddance!

A sportscaster (may have been a former jock) commented that you become less fans of teams and more fans of individual players - hoping they get recognized for their achievements. So I'm fine with Jeter or a player on any other team, even the Jets having a last hurrah and HoF induction.

Just think about 20 years from now. BB and Brady will be in the HoF 1st ballot, but what about other players? There will be players on the fence denied because NYC-based sportswriters at their secret ballot letting their Giants or Jets bias vote them out. They will manufacture and rationalize, "he's a system player", "he wouldn't have complied these stats on a non-dynasty team". Fans will note and get enraged when players of similar career achievements get inducted into the HoF from the Giants, etc.

Also note that for every defensive player in the HoF, there are three on the offensive side....many of the Patriot greats are on defense.

This is why I want the HoF selection committe to go from a few dozen to hundreds, including player to vote publicly....it works for the Supreme Court.

Football is a game - not mortal combat. Hate players if you must when they are playing, but when they check out, give them all their due.

Eff Derek Cheater; eff him to hell.
