Ndamukong Suh?

Having a dominant NT is huge, but we probably can't afford Suh. It's the nature of the game, if he wants to leave Detroit he'll have to go to a team with a cheap QB like Mario Williams did in Buffalo

It would be perfect. He'd do the seemingly impossible: lower the collective IQ of the Jets' DL. And he'd be worse there than he has in Detroit, as he'd have nothing but encouragement there to act like the ***hat he is. He'd be suspended more than he'd play.

Seriously, I'd rather have Mohammad Wilkerson than Suh.

Listen to what I said, it happens like with talib. However bill must be prepared to part with a round 2 and maybe even a #2 and #4. We are talking a prime good starting proven player. Teams don't serve them up cheap

Talentwise, they're among the best interior defensive linemen in the NFL. But I agree with this because Wilkerson is a model citizen and Suh is an ass.

I'm not sure why the Jets would want Suh, at least not at the money he'll demand. I don't see where Suh fits. Wilkerson, Harrison, and Richardson are already one of the best defensive lines in the business, and all of those guys are still pretty young. They don't really have the personnel for a 4-3 in terms of linebackers or smaller edge rushers, so it doesn't make much sense.

Listen I would love for this but Talib was still on his short money deal and very reasonable.

Suh is overrated. He's living off the hype of his rookie year + his reputation of being a nucklehead on the field, which somehow gets misconceived as being taleented. As the good DEs that the Lions had have left/gotten older (Vanden Bosch, Avril) Suh's production has dipped off.

Wilkerson, Gerald McCoy, Atkins, Justin Smith, Mebane, Liuget, Brockers, Knighton and the list goes on and on are much better than Suh.

But how many more years will that be? And Richardson, Wilkerson and Suh? Thats filty

The Jets already have one of the best DLs in the NFL, and at very low cost. Sheldon Richardson is on year 2 of his rookie deal, Mohammad Wilkerson is on year 4 with a 5th year option in 2015, and Damon Harrison is a UDFA. Harrison will be a UFA in 2015. If the Jets want to spend a fortune on Suh and let Harrison hit the market, I'd happily snatch up Harrison. I can't imagine why they'd want to do that. They need a secondary, not more linemen.

I'll go a step further. I'd rather have ANY of the 3 DL currently starting for the Jets than Suh:

- Mohammad Wilkerson: 24 years old, Pro Bowl caliber player who can play 3-4 DE, 4-3 DT, 4-3 NT, and LDE in a 4-3 Under.
- Damon Harrison: 25 years old, 6'4" 350# black hole who sucks up opposing linemen in his gravitational field. Plug him in the middle and you make things that much easier for Jones and Easley.
- Sheldon Richardson: 23 years old, can play 3-4 DE or 4-3 DT.

I like Suh, but not at that price.

This isn't true. Suh isn't the incredible freak that he was made out to be coming out of college, and McCoy is certainly better (pre-ACL tear, Atkins was as well), but he's still one of the two or three best 3-techniques in the game after Atkins and Kyle Williams. Starks is probably up there as well.

The other guys you listed all play different techniques than Suh. You can't really compare Brockers (a prototype 1-technique run stuffer) to Suh.

In this day and age DTs move around a lot. In the base some of those players might not be 3-techs but they do play 3-tech quite a bit. The thing I look at when I see a player like Suh is this:

Despite not getting tons of pretty stats, does he make the players around him better? No. (A good example for this is Gerald McCoy)
If no to the question above, is he still an unstoppable force by himself? No.

You can't be a top 5 player at your position if the answer to both questions above are "no", in my opinion of course.

Re-sign important Free Agents
Continue to stock the Offensive Line
Sign Suh.

That's my priority order at the end of the season. Suh would be a great pick up but he would need to mature somewhat. Amazing player, annoying player.

Can't see it happening but he actually is a beast and i would love to see him on the Patriots despite some of the outbursts on the field.

Read some rumblings about Suh and the Jets. That's not a scenario I would care to see...

Me neither but it is exactly the kind of move i can see them making, and that DL would be really really nasty.

Suh is haynesworth 2.0

Read Mayo's post.
Jets do not need help in their young, aggressive DL. They have many other positions of desperate need where cap $ could be spent that would upgrade the team. Ignoring QB, DB and WR come to mind.

The number I saw mentioned yesterday was $18M a year. Heck, at that price I think him going to the Jets would be the best case scenario.

With Jets DL being discussed, Kenrick Ellis is a FA at the end of this season (or did they pick up the option?). He wouldn't be a bad signing.

He is a UFA after this season.
