It's easy, and only takes a few moments. Most people are going to compare Keenan Allen and Aaron Dobson because it seemed like Allen was the obvious pick at the time. Right now, Allen is proving to be the superior player.
I'm quite high on Dobson but he needs to come on sooner rather than later for the simple reason that the Patriots need him.
That makes 2 of us. I want Dobson the field every week for 75% of the offensive snaps. Of all of the WRs not named Edelman we should be most invested in developing Dobson.Dislike
Why did Saints-Cowboys make it to SNF again? We all know that defense is going to get destroyed by Drew Brees.
Allen was a risk at the time. He was the one with a really bad injury history. There is a reason why he dropped to where he dropped.
I am tired of all the *****ing on this board and going overboard about players. All day it has been "The Pats should have signed Steven Smith" "The Pats should have signed Mike Wallace". etc. I am sorry if I am unloading on you, but it is just tiring in general. I will stop attacking you. I am sorry again.
So did Gronk, so did Hernandez. Players drop all the time.Allen was a risk at the time. He was the one with a really bad injury history. There is a reason why he dropped to where he dropped.
I wonder why the Pats didn't pick him up then...they usually love the injured "value" players...
Keenan Allen looking like a young Marvin Harrison. Gits.
IDK, the Saints have not looked all that great this year. They are 1-2 and they lost Cleveland and Atlanta (not exactly two world beaters thus far) and they were only beating the Vikes 13-9 at home last week going into the fourth quarter and the Cowboys are 2-1. This game doesn't excite me, but it could be far more competitive than you think.
Sadly I think it is being billed as Rob Ryan’s return to Dallas. Tough week for marquee games.IDK, the Saints have not looked all that great this year. I actually opened a thread to sign LaFell before the Patriots even brought him in for a visit so I am a huge advocate of the signing, but if we were talking just 2014, Steve Smith would have been a better pickup. The thing people do not realize is the Patriots never had an opportunity to sign Smith, he had a visit scheduled with us following his visit with the Ravens, and he canceled the visit and signed with the Ravens. The thing everyone is criticizing Belichick for not doing was not an option. You sir, are NOT the only one to feel that way. Right on!
The same, ahem, gentlemen, who criticize Dobson for his screws in his a foot, are adamant that we should have signed the shrimp that the Broncs did. Who, bye-the-bye, has two similar screws in his foot for the same problem.
If BB had done so, I'm sure they would have blasted him about signing another "smurf" and not signing a somewhat proven NFL receiver that is 6'3" tall, and can help the Run game, and in the Red Zone.
My personal opinion is I was/am happy with the Dobson pick but preferred Allen. The point of discussion is their current development. The Patriots really need Dobson to develop and develop quickly.I understand that, but that is why the Pats probably shied away from him. Maybe their medical staff didn't like his medicals. Some players have injury red flags that are bigger red flags than others and sometime those red flags prove to be unfounded.
I am just stating that Allen wasn't a slam dunk at the time of the draft and dropped for a reason.

The thing about those types of comparisons is they are flawed. Allen is better with the Chargers who handed him the starting job and have given him 100% of the opportunity to succeed. Dobson is with the Patriots who started an UDFA over him because the player worked hard and picked up the offense the quickest and have made him earn every rep on offense. Sometimes the opportunity makes the player more than the player making the opportunity.dobson is better.
anyway, philly got screwed on that drive. 3rd and long and the niners get a home cooked call. some bs holding on a cb. the nfl doesn't want the 49ers going 1-3
If we could draft in hindsight are only concern would be fitting all the contract extensions under the cap. There is also a chance if Allen was still there at #83 Pats pick him, take Logan Ryan at #91 and Harmon at #102.
