Sunday’s NFL Games (week 4)

Maybe he'll actually do something in the playoffs. Marvin was friggin amazing but he shriveled up in the playoffs just like his QB every time. I wonder if he'll make it into the Hall of Fame. He certainly has the numbers.

He'll get there, he has too big a body of work to be ignored for long. Manning could knock him down though.

No problem, I like you Rob and I think you are an excellent poster. Sometimes you do makes some excuses, which is fine; it just will lead to a little friction from time to time.

My concern is with the way we develop the WRs not with the actual players. Keenan Allen is good because the Chargers ride or die with him, we should be doing the same with Dobson in my opinion. I for one was actually very happy with what Tavon Wilson did as a rookie and then last season they did not even give him a chance, now this season I am seeing the same thing with Dobson and Harmon and it just annoys me, because I like young players. I am OK with them making mistakes I just like to see them get a shot.

I would not have signed Mike Wallace for what he cost, I think he is a fine WR who could add something to the team but the Dolphins overpaid so they can have him. Emmanuel Sanders would have been a nice signing but he is not Calvin Johnson so his not being signed is not that big of a deal. Posters are just enamored with him because he has had a couple good games because he is new to the Broncos offense so teams are not game planning him like they do the other WRs.

One thing we agree with is that I would rather have them play Dobson and let him play into game shape than sit him. Granted speedy outside receivers are a tricky thing if they are not moving at 100%. What made Dobson show promise last year was that he was beating his defenders off the line with his quickness and he may still not have all of that which will be tough to get him separation. But since no one else is doing much to contribute, I would let him play into shape.

Rob, we're agreed. AD had developed a lovely double move and head-fake.

Being a sports Fan, is not an exercise in objectivity, unless your playing Fantasy football. I'm a homer and glory in rooting for "my" team.

Johnny Most was my favorite sports announcer. He probably contributed to at least a couple of Celtics championships, by never tearing a locker room apart, by being "objectively" divisive.

There are other areas of life that demand objectivity; but being a "FAN-atic" is NOT one of them.
Here is the things caring about something means caring enough to talk about the negatives, loving something only if you can pretend it is perfect is not sincere. I talk about the negatives on the team because I want to discuss the things that could potentially be detrimental to it. I love my wife, she drives like **** though, and I tell her all the time because I do not want her to crash her car, I could let me love for her blind me but would that really make me a better husband if she ends up driving into a telephone pole?

I post on this board more than anyone, I discuss basically everything right down to when Belichick takes a piss, my love for the Patriots is undisputable and everyone on this board know matter how they feel about me as a poster knows that so I am a fanatic without question. I have to look at the things that could hurt us long term, I like to know the strengths and weakness when I watch the game.

Thompkins was inactive and Dobson was active week two.

Again, the Bequette stuff makes you look unobjective. Bequette was never active because he just sucked and could not make any contribution in any way. Dobson had the best season for any rookie WR in the Brady era. And if he isn't playing, it has to be due to his injury because he hasn't even had a chance to fail to be benched because of performance.

Seriously, the guy needs to get reps with Brady to even show if he isn't going to be a bust. He missed the entire preseason, so if he isn't doing well they need to give him an opportunity to get reps with Brady to see what he is.

I agree with this somewhat. Dobson still can come back and blow it out but I would also not be surprised if he a scratch again tomorrow. It's up in the air.

Overall, I am more ticked off by the fact that they should have had some back up plans if the surgery is that serious or recovery may take longer. The way right now, it looks like they went in with a hope and a prayer that Dobson would be back to 100% and its biting them. And if they thought Amendola, Thompkins or LaFell were going to be that backup threat, well their contributions speak for themselves.

As we have it right now, we have another year of Brady's twilight going into dealing with subpar receivers. Outside of JE of course.

Why did Saints-Cowboys make it to SNF again? We all know that defense is going to get destroyed by Drew Brees.

Hell of a catch by Stevie Johnson.

Hard to believe San Fran got that kid for basically nothing.

Why on Earth would you want to be fool enough to think you've got the 1985 Bears when you've got the 2008 Lions?

OF COURSE being a fan should be an exercise in attempted objectivity, some of the time. Your team plays a limited number of minutes, in a limited number of games. Willingly being wrong about that team 24/7 makes no sense.

Keenan Allen looking like a young Marvin Harrison. Gits.

dobson is better.

anyway, philly got screwed on that drive. 3rd and long and the niners get a home cooked call. some bs holding on a cb. the nfl doesn't want the 49ers going 1-3

I think Toby Gerhardt is one of the worst offseason signings.

saints are a bad road team.

they will probably win though.

Dobson has excellent size, and he gained 10-15lbs in the offseason, the kid could be the best outside WR we have had since Moss. They did the same thing with him last year he started behind Thompkins, then he passed him, and for a 4-5 game stretch he was playing at a 65-75 catch, 1100-1200 yard, 8-10 touchdown clip, then he hurt his foot. He needs to play, he has everything it takes to be mix of a Green/Jeffrey type WR. The catch he had in week 2 was a perfect example of how he can use his size even without separation. He is what Brady needs too, a player Brady can throw it up for even if there is no separation and let him make a play on it.

IDK, the Saints have not looked all that great this year. They are 1-2 and they lost Cleveland and Atlanta (not exactly two world beaters thus far) and they were only beating the Vikes 13-9 at home last week going into the fourth quarter and the Cowboys are 2-1. This game doesn't excite me, but it could be far more competitive than you think.

Most people are going to compare Keenan Allen and Aaron Dobson because it seemed like Allen was the obvious pick at the time. Right now, Allen is proving to be the superior player.

I'm quite high on Dobson but he needs to come on sooner rather than later for the simple reason that the Patriots need him.

Boldin, Johnson. Yeah, basically receivers just fall out of the sky for them.

Unfortunately, they are two receivers the Pats had no shot at. Boldin was a gift from one brother to another. And neither the Ravens nor the Bills were ever going to make a trade that would help the Patriots.
