He is having an exceptional year. I am watching him blow up one play after another, so where's the love?

I suspect that he is injury free and we are seeing the real potential of this guy.

IMO, we've already seen the potential in the guy..

2010 and 2012 he was an animal and in the 6 games he played last season he looked great too.

Mayo has always been one of my favorites on this team. He's a true Patriot.

I think we are seeing a more playmaking type of player now because the players around him finally allow for him to go make plays like rush the QB or hit the gap harder than before. It helps to get good players around you.

who cares about the defense? you will have to surrender your Patsy Drama Queen membership cards if you continue posting or attempt to post anything positive about the Patriots

It's hard to shine when your job is to clean up other's messes.

that does it! I'm gonna post a "We should Have Drafted Vernot Goatston Instead Of Mayo" thread....give me a second while I dredge up lists of everybody/anybody who was drafted in 2008.

He's always been outstanding. He know has a supporting cast of versatile athletic players and can call his own number on a blitz once in a while.

Stand by your man! Er..men!

(I know, Tammy Wynette. Sue me!)

He does not usually blitz the QB, but what I am noticing is that he is blowing up plays in backfield (run blitz?) and has shown excellent coverage in the short area. He has more freedom now to react and make the play. I think is injury free and playing to his full potential.

I remember someone who still think GOATston is an impact once in a generation type player because of his speed, power, bodyfat %... Oh opps, guess that's a minor slippage....

Gholston tricked everybody. Not just because of his combine #'s but he had elite production. He had 14 sacks and was the only player to beat Jake long for sack. Everybody would have been psyched at the time had the patriots drafted him.

As for Mayo he is in the best shape of his career. He looks as quick and as explosive as he did as a rookie while obviously being much stronger. He is going to have the best year of his career and may even surpass Bowman and Willis and couple others as the best LB in the NFL as long as he continues to hold up in coverage duties which I expect him to because he is as quick as he was as a rookie with the experience he has picked up as a veteran. He is for sure in his best condition ever and its showing up on the field. Defensive player of year candidate

I can believe it, but what indications are that he is in the best shape of his career? Did he win an off-season award? Did he say so in an interview?

Anyway the Patriots LB corp is starting to look formidable....echo of BB years with the Giant's LBs (Lawrence Taylor, Carl Banks, and Harry Reasons)?

No but the guys on the radio between 2-6pm said Mayo is a severely overrated, overpaid, slow, run stopping LB.

he missed some time to see his kid being born so clearing hes not 100% invested in the patriots.

Both he and Hightower have had exceptional seasons. McCourty has been excellent as well and Revis has been solid (though I expect him to play closer to an elite level as the season goes on). If the team can replace Siliga's production while he's out, find one more reliable pass rusher to add to the mix, and resolve the situation at safety across from McCourty, we'll be in excellent shape.

"...severely overrated, overpaid, slow..." Sounds like a couple of guys on 98.5 between 2-6pm...

When I need an opinion on who's slow and overpaid, I go to these guys:

I appreciate guys like him and Wilfork since they've been through worst defensive years and were among the only bright spots defensively through those years.

While many guys like Revis, McCourty, Jones and Hightower have stepped in to help start the turnaround on defense, Mayo still remains the leader and the glue of this defense.

Jerod Mayo a couple seasons ago was struggling in coverage and coasting on natural ability and racking up tackles but no impressing anybody with his play. His Pec injury made him rededicate himself. HGH is used to help athletes heal from major injuries. Manning used loads of it to regenerate tendon ligaments muscle and help heal nerves. It is a very slight muscle builder but its main purpose is to heal and regenerate muscle as well as joints ligaments tendons as well as lubricate joints. Returning from the injury energized his workouts and take conditioning seriously. While healing his pec he worked and conditioned his bofy while the HGH freshened up his joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles. HGH tends to work better when working out and taking nutrition seriously as part of healing.

The results are showing up on the field. Here is taking on blocks and beating them better than ever through power and slipping blocks with power quickness and agility. His closing speed is as good or better than when he was a rookie. He is closing with burst and agility and a lot of explosive force. When Mayo has been hitting and wrapping up the ball carriers stop or go backward. When Mayo gets to the ball carrier there is no fighting for an extra yard or breaking the tackle. If he has them square he completely stops their momentum. He also alters his angle and closes better than ever. In coverage he looks very comfortable and closes on passes instantly. He gets very deep drops and doesn't look out of place. So far he runs with TEs or runners.

His weight is bout the same but he clearly looks stronger and better conditioned. His shoulders look like they are standing up like Bowman and Willis but mayo is a little bigger than them both. But his quickness and closing burst and agility is similar to them now. Here is a pic of Mayo now and another from couple seasons ago in pro bowl game. You can see he looks stronger
