Patriots 3rd most Expensive team to go watch

Not so fast, Shmessy.
I have a (small) share of season tickets for both the Red Sox and patriots. Both are pretty good seats. The Sox tickets are $45 each. The patriots tickets are 170 esch except for when they go up to 212 for the Denver game and the Jets game.
The sox suck this year, but they've had some recent success.last year I was at the game clinching World Series win (game six at Fenway). The ticket was $200. That is less than what I am paying to see Denver in a few weeks.

Baseball is a different business model. If they charged what football teams charged for tickets, they would have an empty park. Imagine paying $170 per ticket for 81 games a season? That is $13,770 a year per ticket and that wouldn't even be for behind home plate tickets.

IIRC, for most of the past decade the Pats have been the most expensive ticket in the league, so I guess being third now is an improvement. ;)

BTW- Brandon's question is a legitimate one. I too would like to know if PSL's are figured into the equation. Since there are a lot of teams that require one, I bet the Pats would end up in the middle of the pack if they were part of the cost equation

I think PSL's make these comparisons almost impossible. As Rob says above, how do you allocate the cost of the PSL to each game? Since the PSL is valid into perpetuity it mathematically approaches zero cost, but given that the old PSLs expired when they built the new stadium (or was there a trade-in value?), they realistically do have a limited life. We could spread the cost over a normal life expectancy, but given that they can be sold it would be more accurate to spread it over the life expectancy of MetLife Stadium.

Tickets in the EMC Club are $361,000 for two seats for two seasons.

I've had season tickets to both the Sox and Pats. I dropped the Pats because it's an all day event. With the Sox, I can leave after the 7th if the game isn't going well and feel like I got my money's worth. I hop the T to North Station, jump in my car, and I'm gone.

I dropped the Pats tickets because I couldn't invest that much time and effort into it just to get home at 2am on a Sunday/Monday game. Now I only only go a couple times a year.

The other thing that you have to factor into the cost is those crappy preseason tickets that you have to pay for and can't give away. Divide that over the cost of 8 games because they should pay us to see those games. lol

The Sox are a better fit because you can leave a game early?

No offense, because I understand some people DO have lives and other things to do, and there is NOTHING wrong with that, but I think it's OK for folks who feel that way to give up their season tickets. My problem is with the folks who feel that way and DONT give up their season tickets. They sit on their hands at Gillette and make McKayla Maroney faces:

It would be great to have a Seahawks or Chiefs atmosphere........

The Red Sox play 82 games at Fenway each year. The Patriots play 10. Using your example ($45 each vs. $170 each), the difference in season tickets is $1990. The Patriots are a bargain! Ha ha ha. :)
I get the math, but while the sox play 81 games I only go to 3 or 4. Just like I only to 3 or 4 pats games a year.
I will say though there is nothing so boring as a baseball game when your team is getting blown out early....when that happens it's no bargain.

True, but if you leave early, you can find places and people who will be more fun in Kenmore Square than off of Rte. 1.
