OK Folks heading out to KC this weekend for the Game.

Staying at Harrah's Casino Sunday night and Monday night.

Its in nothern KC and I am looking for recommendations for the best KC Burnt Ends near the Casino?

Any tips anyone has for attending a game in KC? Parking tips and anything else?

Anybody else going?

I will be sure to update here with some highlights from the trip.

Avoid the highly recommended Oklahoma Joe's barbecue place. I got a food-bourne illness from that place that just leveled me.

If you want the REALLY good stuff, you gotta go downtown to Arthur Bryant's. Gates is pretty good and has character and is in several locations including the North. Also highly recommend finding your way to the California Taqueria and having their Chilli Rellenos. Dang, now I'm hungry remembering my favourite haunts in KC.

Thanks for the tip from my research Arthur Bryants seems to be the original and the place to go. A friend also recomended bbslawnsidebbq.com.

I saw Gates wasnt too far from the Casino so that might be what we try.

Arrowhead has a great atmosphere for football, and great fans. It'll be a sea of red, and there's excellent tailgating in the parking lot. Nice people there, and doubt you'd get much hassle for wearing Patriot jerseys or anything like that. If it was the Raiders, different story as that's the big rivalry.

I live near KC and will be heading to my first ever NFL game. Needless to say I am very excited. I have eaten at all the big KC places (OK Joes, Arthur Bryant's, Gates, and Jack Stack). I love Joe's, to me it is hands down the best, Bryant's is good, followed by Jack Stack and Gates.
As far as tailgaiting, I have not been there for an NFL game, but many Royals games as well as college football. Everywhere is good, it has a real college gameday feel to it. Lots of BBQ, football toss, games....it is a big party that starts several hours early.

Thanks for the info I will have to look into OK Joes hadn's seen that in my research yet.

That's the one that throws in food-bourne illness for no extra charge!

I live there.

Arthur Bryants on Brooklyn is good. Gates is good too. Better sauce.

Arrowhead has plenty of parking and good tailgating. Some of the fans can get mouthy and bear in mind that they will have all day to get lit up. KC has no love lost for anything NE after Pioli and Cassel. MNF games are typically crazy there. Chief fans are trying to break Seattles loudest stadium record on MNF.

1) Bring your ear plugs. The crowd is loud...and the heavy metal pumped in is even louder. My ears are still ringing from 20 years ago.
2) The fans are the nicest....We crashed a massive tail gate party, offered to give them our spare ticket if they would let us join them. No problem, let us keep the ticket, feasted like kings on the pig roast, the Chiefs Cheerleaders even gave the party a private show.........yahooooo.
3) Local BBQ.......went to a joint called the best in the city, the name escapes me, kind of filthy inside but very good
4)The folks are big in KC....men and women.....Don't bash K State or Large Marge might sit on you
5) Don't wear your Eff Al Davis pin....but show utter contempt for the Raiders every chance you get....they'll take you in as one of their own

Bring home a win dude.......failure may seriously jeopardize future road trips!!

Hey, SBB---enjoy the road trip and bring back a "W."

Make sure you tell everyone to be quite when the pats O is on the field...thanks!

quite what?

quite chicken littley?

quite Bawkley Q. Bawkleman Esq.?

quite rightly...like Mellow Yellow and Donovan?

quite how?

I'm going too. My buddy got tickets in 132 for $100 a piece. He's from KC and is leaving me out to dry in my NE gear, as he will be wearing Royals gear. Hope to see a Gronk spike or two and a W

I've been finding everyone to be friendly and nice. Doesn't hurt the first thing I've been saying to them is your welcome for the tuck game.

Moved out here to the KC area for job back in the spring, from CT I can share some things I've learned.

KC BBQ - You'll get as many opinions as you can possibly get about bbq out here since there are so many restaurants and people that claim one is better than another. I've been to 7 or 8 different ones so far, and my favorite has been the previously mentioned Oklahoma Joe's (the original location is served in a gas station), Jack Stack, Arthur Bryant's and Gates as my top 4 in order. Burnt Ends are a KC specialty, you must try them at least once.

Arrowhead - My first (and only) trip here was in the preseason in Week 3 versus the Vikings this year. Arrowhead and Kauffman are located outside the city in the middle of nowhere in a giant lot of concrete.
The stadiums are easy to access from all directions and although there are slight "delays" out here it is nothing like the gridlock Route 1 gets like in Foxborough. Parking costs $30 and there is no walking 2 miles down a road to get to the stadium! Because there is no place to hang out other than the parking lot - fans get here early and tailgate / drink / play cornhole, etc - it is pretty amazing to see; I'd liken it to the atmosphere you get at a big time college football game.

Arrowhead itself has much more charm and atmosphere not to mention loudness than Gillette Stadium. Now the preseason game I went to wasn't packed at all yet it roared about as loud as I have heard Gillette before (no surprise there). Of note this week Kansas City is going to have Guinness Book of World Records there in an attempt to measure the loudest roar of a stadium on MNF - an ongoing back and forth battle between Seattle's Centurylink Field and Arrowhead, so bring some earplugs.

This is going to be my first regular season game at Arrowhead, I'm pretty excited. Hope there are other Patriots fans going so I'm not the only one out there in a sea of red.
