Why did we sign lafell over sanders?

27th in yards per game. Not good enough for any team.

It seems like some of the people raving about Sanders ignore the fact that Edelman is playing as well or maybe even a little bit better than him given the circumstances.

Denver run an incredibly simple offense, just like the Colts did. The Patriots run a system that is needlessly complicated.

Aside from the o-line, that is also a big problem IMO.

Can't be that complicated, Gronk and the inmate picked it up their first year.

Denver 17th and their line isn't playing the worst in the league.

I mean. 17 and 27. Both in the bottom half but I'll take 17 all day.

A brady led team shouldn't be 5 spots removed from worse yards per in any season. Ever.

Not gaming brady. Not blaming lafell. It's somebodies fault tho.

Denver has gained only 100 more yards and their line isn't the worst line in football through 3 weeks.

Right, and Edelman and Sanders are very similar players in terms of their toolbox. Also, Sanders and Welker were effective while on the field together for the Broncos - give that Sanders is a poor man's Edelman and Amendola a poor man's Welker, the two should be able to co-exist in the Patriots offense as well. Unfortunately, the Patriots line has been so bad that they're playing with two tight ends at all times (and sometimes a de facto third in the form of LaFell), limiting the number of receivers that can be on the field - and limiting the amount of time Brady has to go through his progressions.

I'd rather Dobson emerge than Amendola at this point, but it won't matter if the line play remains the same.

Hard to wait for other receivers to get open when the pocket is consistently collapsing. You have to go with the guys that get open the quickest.

is that what happens every down? he had plenty of time on many occaisions

I always thought QB's go through progressions........so that must mean that if Brady never has any time that Edelman and Gronk are almost always his 1st option

Brady had time on a few occasions to go through his progressions. Others? Not so much. And you're exactly right. That's why Gronk and Edelman have such a high percentage of the targets. Especially Edelman. He gets open more quickly than a lot of other WR's in the NFL. So Brady can dump it off to him to avoid the sack if he's open.

Our line isn't the worst in football though.

The team we play next week has a worse line than us, quite a few teams do. The problem is our respectable o-line looks bad because of the lack of players, we have Gronk for one quarter, the other three quarters it is only Edelman, not much of a run game or anything. Yet we still have a much better line than KC or JAC.

No Pats literally have the worst line right now. Vollmer is the only one that isn't graded in the bottom part of the league at his potion through 3 weeks.

Add into that the Patriots OL is complete junk at the minute means if a receiver isn't the hot read, chances are they aren't getting the ball.

Stop writing players off - it's 3 games. 3!

i'd prefer a simpler offense. this complicated bs isn't working. none of the wr's other than minitron know what their doing. a coach should adjust to the personnel available. no point in running a scheme when you don't have the proper players.

12 seasons with Brady as QB
11 seasons in the playoffs
3 Super Bowl wins
5 Super Bowl appearances
8 AFCCG appearances

It's not perfect, and there are always issues to deal with, mistakes to fix and things to improve but, overall, it's working fine.

laFAIL was actually decent with carolina, but like so many others just fail under the patriots system.

on another note...why did we let blount go? he's better than fumbler ridley. also a good closure in the 4th quarter. he ran right through carolina's stacked defense last night.

blount > james white/bolden/ridley
He ran us to the afc championship game to your point.

People still overrating Blount I see.

Considering we had 60 yards of offense in the second half vs Miami, that represents the entire difference between the 2 offenses and their yardage. That half happened, but in the other 2 1/2 games we have been as effective, or ineffective as Denver. (Yardage-wise, and the 9 point difference in scoring would also be made up in that one place)
