You can know things about the receivers, such as that LaFell was bad at Carolina. You know Thompkins is a UDFA that has some nice attirubtes, but speed and ability to get open are not one of them. I have no clue what Dobson's situation is, but whatever it is (lack of trust from coaches, or injury lingering for a year now) it ain't good.

Brady certainly isn't to blame for all this.

As for Wright, people were talking about the great number of 54 catches at Tampa that he put up, and all I could think about was Marv Cook and the hundreds of other TEs from poor teams that put up good numbers like that. Cook was severely overrated in New England.

a consistent 40+ catch 500+ yard receiver is bad? if anything Lafell was an Average receiver at Carolina. the constant belittling of the players we have on our team and building everyone else up as studs on other teams is getting tiring here.

I will state the facts again.
2006. Patriots lose to Manning in AFCC. Offense is terrible. Reche Caldwell is #1 WR. Heath Evans is #3 WR. Patriots bring Brady Randy Moss, wes Welker, Donte Stallworth

2013. Patriots lose to Manning in AFCC. Offense is terrible.Julian Edelman is #1 WR. Danny fcking Amendola is #3 WR. Patriots bring Brandon Lafell and expend a 2nd round in Garoppolo.

Bill not putting enough into the offense is showing up. A round 2 draft pick on a WR every 4 years and a $3 million a year free agent to be a go to WR isn't getting you a consistent legit playmaker. Just like undrafted players rotating along the oline isn't allowing Brady to go through reads properly.

Lafell was terrible in Carolina. A quality starting WR in today's NFL that can't get over 500 yards is terrible. It says he can't consistently beat the Dbacks get open and catch the football. Carolina wanted him to he more and gave him oppurtunity. Ted Ginn outperformed him. Carolina front office, coaching and fans wanted to find an upgrade and have in rookie kelvin Benjamin who has already out performed loser lafell. I like Garappoollo but there was to many needs like WR, OLine.

What is so impressive about 40 catches for a starting WR?

As Brady said, it an offense problem. The line isn't blocking well. The WRs are either too young, not good enough or not a fit for this offense and TB12 is not the QB he was 4 years ago.

There's also Gronk being brought back, rather than whichever of Grahambo and Watson we had then at constant health. And some young guys being developed. And Wright eventually brought in. Faulk/Vereen does favor the old days, I think, but not necessarily if Vereen gets more consistent.

And by the way, Edelman was already pretty good last year.

It's middle of the pack. Teams don't have a Gronk, him and Jimmy G are miles ahead of anyone else. Edelman has been great, after that we are hurting, especially for a physical WR.

Our wrs are fine. Lafell isn't getting open much, but then that was never his game (its more like Gronk, who can win the ball regardless of if he's open or not) and imo he is a redzone target and shouldn't be starting.

KT is frequently open if you watch the film and he has caught basically 6 of 7 catcheable passes thrown his way this year, Dobson also was openish when he played in week 2.

Gronk is injured still but is the best TE in the nfl when hes healthy, Vereen is frequently open and is reliable.

What's simply not reliable is the crazy pressure in Tom's face. He was never a great qb on the run, and atm its just ridiculous. You simply can't expect him to throw perfectly accurate passes to his 3rd progression receiver when he is concentrating on staying alive and getting hit every other play.

Everything i've seen so far of our wr's tells me that they are playing ok. The problem is the pressure, the penalties and the lack of much vareity in the playcalling.

lol what happened to the good old days when the trolls would complain that belichick wa sscrewing brady's twilight years by giving him a terribad defense?

Brady has zero confidence in Amerdola and LeFell.

Your "facts" aren't even close to being correct though.

On what planet was Heath Evans (targeted a total of 9 times during the season) our "WR3?"

As a matter of fact, Heath Evans' 7 catches would place him as the TWELFTH leading receiver (out of 15 guys who had catches) for the 2006 season.

Danny Amendola caught 54 passes last year, and had a completion/catch rate the exact same as Julian Edelman's, which was somewhere in the mid-high 60s (percentile).

Anyone can see that the struggles of the offensive line have forced Brady to stay with his main 2 receivers in Edelman/Gronk. It has nothing to do with "zero confidence" in a player who was here all last year and produced as our 2nd leading receiver.

Supa the board has gone nuclear. I seriously think we have dropped to the fins, bills and even the jets level in stupidity.

What is so impressive about 40 catches for a starting WR?

On a team like CAR where the bulk of the production went to Cam Newton and the running game? Steve Smith and Greg Olsen combined for 207 targets last year alone, as the Panthers leading receiving targets.

And Brandon LaFell actually caught 49 balls, not "40." Those 49 catches were pretty competitive considering that Steve Smith caught 64 as their WR1.

The problem isn't LaFell competing with Thompkins to round out our depth chart. I think it's much more on the failures of the offensive line to protect the guy who's throwing the ball.

We chose to disagree, Amendola was a waste last season and is the same this season so far. I agree the OL is causing Brady a problem but for the most part Amendola isn't open and Brady has little Confidence with Amendola. You defend him all you want most of us disagree

This is scary, this offensive situation is simply DYSFUNCTIONAL.. I said this last week as well but everyone told me to "stop complaining after a blowout win"

The 2014 Patriots offense is NO better (maybe even worse) than the 2013 offense that was inept vs the Broncos in the AFC Championship game.

-Julien Edleman is Brady's ONLY legitimate target on the field, period.
-Gronk is clearly not 100% (more like 50%) yet is still Brady's #2 most reliable target, this is not a good thing right now.
-LaFell was an awful cheap signing from the start. Panthers fans were more than happy to get rid of him.
-Amendola is one of the (if not THE) WORST signings of the Belichick era. AWFUL. A complete ghost. The only time this guy gets a catch is on illegal picks that get called. And unlike LaFell, who was just a lazy cheap signing, this guy is getting PAID. Disgusting.
-The myth of the "potential" of Dobson/Thompkins is a complete joke. It's been 21 games now, my verdict is set. These guys are never going to emerge as anything they need to be for this offense .
-Wright has been a non-factor, he's going to go from 54+ catches in 8 starts with Tampa to less than that in a full season here.

How the **** does this get better? How is it that Brady, in the twilight of his career, is now playing with complete garbage for 2 years straight? How was it assumed that adding Brandon ****ing LaFell was good enough to improve this offense?

This isn't something you can coach up/scheme, it's a legit personnel problem that the Pats have failed miserably at addressing.

Keep your head up. The offensive line is REALLY good.

Just saw McCourty on Quick Slants with Curran. Curran raised the issue of booing heard in the 2nd quarter yesterday. McCourty said he was told there were actually those yelling for Garoppolo. My money says they were likely from this board.

It was this board. The board is full of idiots IMO
