Roger Goodell Press Conference

So what are we mad about again?
We're mad at Goodell for the suspension and we demand he step down, but we're not mad at Kraft who thinks it was a super awesome decision, and people who disagree are Nazi propagandist Jet Fans?

WTF is going on? lol

Anyway, I was flipping through channels earlier during the news hours and this Goodell conversation is everywhere and all of it is absurd. In my experience, any time EVERY media outlet is marching to the same drum, with a narrative that is totally idiotic, nothing is good is going to come of it.

I'm almost worried about what might be replacing Goodell at this point. I mean this witch trial is really getting dumb. Maybe we'll get our wish and Goodell will be forced out and replaced by an army of trial lawyer super-feminists that have all suffered domestic abuse. I'm sure that would be great for the league's future.

Gee whiz golly gee...if only Belichick had campaigned for a lighter ban maybe ol' Unca Rog woulda softened the franchise destroying rip off of their 1st round pick, a million dollar fine, millions in ancillary revenues lost by this pinheaded branding and the hatred directed blindly at the Patriots and its fans to this day.

Let's see...aggravated felony assault...2 game ban

camera out of position...what?...5 minutes at halftime of the Pats home opener?...sounds about right...relatively speaking. Unless you are the sort of mindless moron that sees camera placement as a far more serious offense compared to AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AND BATTERY.
Absolutely correct sir

Absolutely, correct sir.

Just my opinion, but no one on the face of the earth could be worse in that position than Goodell. With all due respect, and I mean that, if you genuinely need to ask what we're mad about, I don't know what to tell you.

What makes you think that most people aren;t mad at Kraft's abject subservience to Goodell.
The best thing for the Pats would be for him to devote full time with his bimbo and leave the running of the team to his son.

Did you miss the 19+ pages of anger in the other thread?

I personally don't think it's a witch hunt, but a reaction to gross incompetence. RG has annointed himself the czar of discipline for the NFL, and he continues to get it wrong, time after time. Everyone except you, sb39, and the owners hate him. It would be different if he were hated by fans and players for the courageous, forward-looking actions he has taken, but RG is hated because he is inconsistent, reactionary, and tone deaf to the world around him. As the face of the most popular sport in America, he's the wrong man (or woman) for the job.

Because, as evidenced in countless threads on this forum, many people don't realize what the job of the commissioner is.

Every time I see someone hating on Goodell for something unpopular the league is doing such as 18-game schedules, London franchises, expanding the playoffs, as so on, that's just Goodell doing one of the things he is supposed to do: take heat off the owners for unpopular moves.

People who criticize Goodell for those things say he is doing a bad job as commissioner, not realizing that their misdirected criticism proves he is doing exactly what he is supposed to do and being the front man while the true powers of the league stay safely away from the negative publicity.
If that is his official task then he's doing a piss-poor job because his sleight-of-hand shenanigans and embarrassing gaffes have only brought greater heat to bear on his bosses. Regardless, you do not realize that THIS particular commissioner has greater autonomy and authority than any of his predecessors to hatch initiatives, fly trial balloons, levy punishment (or not) and ultimately muck things up. If you believe the 32 owners collectively micromanage this goof you're as naively deluded as your avatar -- via which you henceforth will be known as Prince Skippy.

Roger Goodell: an assertively soft-spoken stuffed shirt given to the matter-of-fact perpetuation of half-truths and outright lies. A soulless, maddeningly overpaid PR puppet out to neuter football while pandering to masses of casual fans with the deepest pockets. Die, you loathsome beast! Die!

That's the most eloquent way of saying "Fire that ****-sucker" I've ever read. Bravo. :D

BTW. I'm liberal.

It's kind of suspicious how you admit that there was a wrong, and you aren't railing against those who you believe are responsible (the owners) but instead you choose to criticize the fans here in post after post after post. Where's your outrage for the owners? All of your negativity is misdirected.

Just returned from a trip where internet access was spotty but after reading our resident Goodell apologist butt boy's repeated braying about how well Roger the ex-Jet is doing for the league I thought these facts would be interesting.

"Younger viewers are walking away from broadcasts of its games.
The average audience between 18 and 49 for NFL broadcasts across CBS, Fox, NBC, ESPN and the NFL Network has declined by about 10.6% over the last four seasons, according to Nielsen data prepared by Horizon Media, to about 7.7 million in 2013 from about 8.62 million in 2010. Meantime, male viewers between 18 and 24 watching the sport have also fallen off, tumbling about 5.3% in the same time period, to approximately 847,000 in 2013 from 894,000 in 2010...

But if the league and the networks can't find a way to stoke growth among 18-to-49ers, their exodus is likely to make some advertisers reconsider the value of NFL games, and, subsequently, force the networks to wonder why they continue to fork over huge amounts of cash to televise it all."

Nice job, Roger!

Mark Cuban's comments about the NFL's tone deaf arrogance again come to mind.

Someone needs to remind those fans how much they like scoring and Peyton Manning.
