Time for USA Women's Soccer to Abandon Hope Solo?

Seems rather unfair to me......Hope should be gone, too.

This one is the worst. A judge. Really?

As great of a player I think Hope Solo is... yeah this really changes my view of her as a person. Disappointing.

She hasn't been convicted. So, to be fair, the charges could be untrue. Extreme family disputes can bring out the worst in people -- from ugly violence to ugly lying.

With that said, if it is true, yes it is unfair that HS largely gets a pass. IMHO it comes down to the HS story not getting the press coverage. Another example of not getting press coverage is the Ray Lewis statue unveiling. There should have been widespread condemnation of the Ravens over that, however, most of the public knows only what is spoken in the first two sentences of the first 60 seconds of a mass media outlet.

Now add to this mix: mass media has their 'outrage-condemnation matrix'. Race, ethnicity, attractiveness, socioeconomic condition, speech, age bracket, likability ....how all of these apply to both the perpetrator and victim is a major factor in whether most mass media outlets will give it air time. Hope Solo has enough of the favorable attributes found in the mass media matrix to make mass media press coverage much less likely (unless additional factors come in to nullify some of the matrix categories).

I was trying to figure out the incidence of this in the NFL, but could not find a list of all players that rotated through in the past year so could not figure out a rate... national stats are easy to find.

I suspect it will probably be higher, but the devil is in the details..

Violence is ridiculous in any form of civilian society. I'm 40, and a complete jack@ss, yet I've never even once come close to any sort of physical confrontation. Fighting, other than self defense is pretty much saying "I lack the intelligence and ability to take care of things using words". People. They're the worst.

That is an interesting find... I was wrong, the NFL has less..

I wonder how those numbers would look if we focused only on men who are employed, let alone employed with 6 figure incomes.

The party that Solo assaulted, including half sister and 17 year old niece, both not only had visible marks and injuries as a result, but the assaults also took place in front of plenty of witnesses.

She's also had an extensive history of this kind of thing. It's not the first time she's been charged (and probably not the first time these charges were "dropped").

Ravens are a POS organization from top to bottom and they've prove it over and over again. Hard to believe their Owner actually texted Rice that he would have a job in the organization when he retires. Truly unbelievable and Harbaugh acted like it was just spilled milk.
