Roger Goodell Press Conference

I'm not wrong on either count. Also, your personal stories are not the whole of corporate America. Perhaps your apparent confusion about that ("your wrong because in my career") is where your error lies.

Well we just disagree then. That's fine. Our experiences are different and that's ok. I'm not looking to make enemies I just think our experiences may be different. But it Happens all the time, several times a year you can read about it for some top companies, it is all about risk.

You are right that (former Secretary of State Condi Rice) does not have NFL experience.

Respectfully, I was trying to make the point that in my opinion, after being in the (very arguably) second most difficult job in the world for four years, I think she could figure it out in about 10 minutes, regardless of whether or not she has been involved with the NFL in the past. She battled with guys like Cheney and Rumsfield every day for eight years, while dealing with world crises everyday involving thousands of lives (at least), all this time, handling the press, forming very difficult consensus (among different countries), etc. After that, would it really be difficult for her to form consensus among the NFL parties?
The commissioner's job is not to "form consensus." It is to maximize revenue.

I admire the hell out of her. I think she's brilliant and I agree with her politically. If she ran for president, I would probably vote for her. I actually wanted Romney to select her as VP nominee in 2012, and think whomever wins the republican nomination in 2016 should consider the same.

Having said that, I think it is ridiculous to say her skills as Secretary of State translate to being NFL commissioner.

Roger Goodell is a joke and so is your defense of the worst commissioner in the history of sport.
Do you really believe moronic hyperbole that demonstrates your ignorance of history makes a valid case?

You have proven throughout this thread you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Roger Goodell does not have a clue how to maximize revenue since not only Roger Goodell does not have a degree in contract law, Roger Goodell does not even have a law degree.

man, this is the longest "24 hours" in sports history....

Yeah, those NFL teams sure are taking a financial hit these days! No money coming in and net values of teams plummeting!

Wait, whuhuhuhu??????????

Here's comes the typical "everything bad is Goodell's fault and everything good would have happened anyway" response.....

Roger Goodell is no visionary, just a 14 carat screw up:

SpyGate
BountyGate
Replacement Referees
Botched CBA Negotiations
ElevatorGate

Roger Goodell has proven, just like yourself, to be a completely worthless moron. Roger Goodell screwed up the latest CBA negotiations to the point where Robert Kraft had to intervene to clean matters up.

Roger Goodell can't even personally conduct an internal investigation since Roger Goodell has, just like yourself, zero credibility.

The NFL, during Goodell's tenure, has grown at a slower rate than the other leagues, and at a slower rate than under Tagliabue, according to Nate Silver. That'd probably be OK since they're starting at a strong position and are still profitable, if he hadn't before a human bad publicity machine.

Just strictly monetarily, Goodell's a JAG. No more irreplaceable than a backup special teams gunner.

My sister went to Harvard Business School. They conduct their classes discussing cases, situations that businesses faced and the prof asks the class how they think they did on a scale of 1 to 10. People raise their hands based on how they think they did, and the outlying voters get grilled on why the CEO in question did better or worse than their fellow students thought. I'd love to sit in on a discussion of Goodell's tenure thus far at HBS. I'd be hard pressed to think anything would vote higher than a 6.

Condi Rice is probably vastly overqualified for the position of NFL Commissioner. In addition to her tenure as Secretary of State, she also has already provided cover for one scandal ridden sports institution's unpopular policies by being the first woman member of the Augusta golf club.

Silver admitted that the high baseline is a large reason behind that. By an amazing coincidence, the league with the lowest baseline in 2006, the NHL, experienced the highest percentage revenue growth since then. What a coincidence!

Roger Goodell, the fraud:

http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/nfl-owners-may-be-overvaluing-goodell/

The bulk of that growth, however, occurred under Goodell’s predecessor, Paul Tagliabue. Since Goodell took over as commissioner in 2006, NFL franchises have risen in value by 32 percent, net of inflation, according to Forbes. That’s the lowest of the North American leagues by some margin. NHL franchises have increased in value by 114 percent, MLB franchises by 82 percent and NBA franchises by 65 percent over the same period (and Forbes is probably undervaluing the NBA, given recent franchise sale prices).

Broken down in terms of annual growth rates: NFL franchise values grew at an annualized rate of 11.7 percent from 1991 to 2006 under Tagliabue and just 3.5 percent per year since 2006 under Goodell.

Yeah that whole rant giving me her entire resume.... sure... "relaxed"....
Apparently it's difficult for you to comprehend someone giving actual facts and being relaxed in the process instead of pulling opinions out of his butt .

BTW you didn't answer me: Does being married to Tom Brady make Gisele more qualified to be commissioner?
More qualified than yourself, absolutely!

After all, part of your Condoleeza resume was her engagement to a player.
No, Skippy, that was not her resume -- just a few random facts about her background to illustrate that she is no stranger to the sport.

So, Skippy: why didn't you smile in your avatar selfie? Come on. It's just the Internet.

Sure thing, Polly!

Now take your parrot out of your ass and please tell us all again you idiotic statement which listed the fact she was engaged to a football players as a qualification for commissioner. Or the fact that her dad was a coach. We enjoy the laugh!!

My personal theory is that SB39 is a college psych-class experiment. The professor and his students are cataloging the difference in responses they receive from posts made with one kind of Avatar versus another.

Its the only thing that makes sense. I mean, what other reason would any poster that wanted to be taken seriously by his peers have in choosing one of the most smarmy, spoiled and petulantly hated literary characters of all time?

Thanks to Paul Tagliabue, not Roger "14 carat screw up" Goodell.

At the same time, the NFL did such a good job of expanding its reach and protecting its brand under Tagliabue and Pete Rozelle that even a mediocre commissioner could be in a position to look good.

Which proves, once again, you don't have a freakin' clue what you are talking about and that you are nothing more than a worthless moron, just like Roger "14 carat screw up" Goodell.

Gary Bettman does his job as commissioner of a sports league, unlike Roger "the sheriff with no bullets" Goodell.
