Perfect set up for Tyms

Baring injuries, things are setting up for Tyms to get waived and hopeful make it to the practice squad. The only reason Tyms didn't get cut is because he doesn't count for a roster spot and keeping him is insurance that if some is hurt by week four, he can be activated to the active roster.

Anyone who really thinks he has a good shot of making the active roster if all the receivers are healthy in two weeks are really kidding themselves.

I honestly can't take you seriously anymore.

The guy has done nothing but catch a few passes from Garoppolo against guys that are bottom of the roster, PS, or out of work.

Thompkins and Dobson proved last year that they got it and clicked.

Thompkins was targeted 10 times in that Miami game, that means Brady trusts him. Only thing is Bady was under pressure all 2nd half so he was throwing it before Thompkins could get to his spot.

Dobson just came back and Brady targeted him on his first pass of the game with Xavier Rhodes drapped on his back. Thing was it was his first game back and it was a run heavy game plan and he played less than half the snaps as a result of that.

They are also not going to cut LaFell after 4 games.

What makes BB great is he takes guys that others gave up on and make them serviceable cheap players for our team. Tyms looked good for us, i'm not saying that he's the answer but we could use a guy with his size.

As for Dobson and KT, both guys starting last year had less than 40 receptions each and Dobson was a scratch in game 1 and KT was scratched in game 2. I wouldn't call this clicking.

Just goes to show how random chance plays a role in NFL rosters. Tyms clearly earned a "shot", but the opportunity only comes if the roster falls the right way for him. He needs a WR injury. If all of the current WRs are healthy, Tyms probably goes to the practice squad.

Did he play any special teams role in the pre season?

if he can play ST he may get a shot at being on the game day roster but other then that he is not a good WR at all he is not going to beat NFL teams #1 and #2 CB's on the outside he only had one good game late in the first preseason game vs Washington after that he had a total of 6 rec for 69 yards in 3 games and his longest play was 20 yards, we are all hoping for one of the young WR's to step up and become a star but Tyms is not the guy

By week 5 I think Amendola, LaFell or Thompkins will find their way onto the in-season IR. I think Tyms gets a shot at that point.

Am I kidding myself that he could be a contributor to this team? Perhaps. But at least it gives me hope, which is more than I can say for those other three guys right now.

Ok so be a muppet for a guy that had a few catches against guys that aren't even good enough to be jags but when he does get cut just know that this thread will be getting bumped with a Nelson from the Simpson's meme.

Ya but Dobson being inactive game 1 because all the other WR ahead of him had played all camp and he was a little behind means nothing except that.

You also make it seem like Dobson and Thompkins played 16 games and had less then 40 catches. Let me remind you they missed time due to injury and had some rookie struggles.

You don't think that GW TD Thompkins caught against NO gained Brady's trust?

Seriously might want to go to the doctor's and get this hardon you have for the JAG Tyms checked out because it's making you blind and dumb.

Brian Tyms reminds me of a Jimmy Smith type of attitude in his playing style. The guy is fearless with a major chip on his shoulder.

He plays with a lot of confidence and who cares if he played against Jags.

He won the bulk of his matchups.

It is not against the realm of possibility that with his physical talents, tenacious attitude and chance from a team that doesn't care where he was drafted; he has all the chances to succeed.

I think we will hear 'Brady deep to Tyms' at least a few times this season.

Guy couldn't stick with Miami or Cleveland's simple offenses yet we're suppose to believe he is going to stick with the Patriots? Because why? He he had 11 catches against JAGS and guys that got cut. With about half those catches coming in the 2nd half of the 1st preseason game

Really?

LaFell isn't going to be cut but who knows, maybe Tyms can find a way to sneak in. Probably not likely though. They most likely kept him just because they could with the suspension and all.

That's a little harsh.

There may or may not end up being a roster spot for Tyms, but he did demonstrate the ability to go up and make a play on the ball -- something the Pats could use a little more of.

Wes Welker couldn't stick with Miami's offense, either. I'm not sure that tells us more about a receiver or Miami's offense...

Not that I am a supporter of Tyms but had Boyce, Dobson or Amendola put up his numbers in the preseason (disregarding the opposition), posters on Patsfans would have been proclaiming an attainable 1,000 yard receiving season for any one of the three.

Tyms adds a different dynamic. He's intriguing but I won't lose sleep if he's released.

I remember a lot of posters hating on a few great Pat players before they broke out. Edelman anyone? How the h3ll do you find out if they don't get a chance? Then when (if) they do, it's right on the bandwagon. Rah, Rah!!

Well, it's not like Tyms is facing a stacked WR roster lineup in front of him that he'll have to displace in order to find a spot. I wouldn't be surprised to see him earn reps.

Did Tyms even see any snaps with Brady in the preseason games?

Dear lord, Amendola's been mentioned 6 times in this thread and still no posts from Brady6? I think someone should call and check up on him to make sure he's OK! :D

But Boyce, Dobson, and Amendola would have probably done it vs. the 1s, not the 2s, 3s, and 4s that Tyms faced. The Tyms hype reminds me of the Bam Childress hype. Childress was a preseason stud who went on to have a career of five catches for 39 yards over two seasons.

Credibility gone.
OK Raymond let me break down this down to laymans for you.
Brian Tyms may or may not break out as a player for the Patriots or any team.
Tyms has as sad as a back story as any player In the NFL.
As human beings we naturally root for the underdogs.
Tyms has ridiculous jumping ability and above average speed as well as ideal height for the position.
He was trained by Randy Moss on catching the ball and it showed he was better than any receiver at high pointing the ball as well as timing his catch to the last moment tricking the db as well as having the advantage to make a play on the ball that only Randy could do so well. He showed he could win matchups with speed he showed he could beat the jam.
He said in interviews that he is watching a lot more film.
PS. Your point about lack of targets could be a lot of equations one the offensive line was awful in preseason just because he won his matchup doesn't mean that the qb had time to find him and or get the ball to him.
By the way how many drops did he have? How many wrong routes causing a turnover.
I wouldn't ever count out the possibility that his number was called less so that when his ban is lifted another team wouldn't try to poach him off the practice squad if BB wants to keep him there and let him develop or season him.
I guess the people are who are rootimt for him to overcome his awful upbringing and make the most out of himself as well as see him become the next David Givens or Danny Woodhead is a awful fan and shouldn't post.
I'll continue to cheer for Tyms to make it even if he's in another jersey even if its a Jet.
