these domestic violence arrests are bad because they'll cause MORE domestic violence...

no wonder they call Patsfans a genius convention sometimes...

facetiousness never won anyone any friends.

Bunch of young guys with in the majority of cases years of fake education resulting in a large pool of very physically gifted yet not entirely smart individuals suddenly one verbal argument away from losing millions of dollars.

It's good that they are being punished when something happens, HOWEVER when you have that hanging over your head like all of the players do now, they may OVERCOMPENSATE, which results in more cases of domestic abuse. Toss some booze and an upset girlfriend into the situation and it turns into a powderkeg where the big strong, and in most cases, not to bright, player goes all of mice and men on they girlfriend.

at my age I got all the friends I'll ever need..and it's not facetiousness, it's sarcasm.

A group of 1600+ men aged 20-35 (mostly) are being scrutinized.

Show me 1600 doctors, lawyers, preachers, teachers, policemen, Sunday school teachers, Patsfans posters, or WHATEVER

and I am sure we could line up a fair amount of wifebeaters, kid beaters, drug users, kiddie porners, or about any other vice you can imagine.

It is a group so large that it is a little silly to be so outraged at individual cases, as long as the perps are viewed equally under the law and hopefully by their employers.

There is some truth to this, however and to really rev up the PC police, a fair chunk of the 1600 come from the meanest streets in America and from homes that are 'broken'. Places where your ability to be violent is a badge of honor, celebrated, something to be admired. It's unlikely your other list of professions will list this.

But, essentially, your point is correct. Taking a large group of just about any humans is likely to reveal some unpleasant realities. For these 1600, they happen to have 16000 sharks circling them and these sharks smell blood. There is money to be made, there is political capital to be made, and the social engineering groups are salivating at opportunities like this to further their agendas (using the 'common man's' propensity to believe their gut reaction is an actual thought process).

something to consider now that there are harsher penalties is that these guys are walking on egg shells, and if they are in any sort of volatile relationship it could result in MORE domestice abuse issues because a simple argument could quickly spiral out of control, lead to a threat of "I'll calling the police" and the player just losing his mind now that he'll literally start to lose his career.

Definitely good that domestic abuse is finally getting the attention it deserves, but right now its going to be really rough going this year at least.

Seriously? Ummm........

The only thing that is likely to happen from a hyper reaction is someone(plural) will be caught up in it unjustly. But hey, when a mob is doing right, and doing right has no end, there's always going to be some that must be sacrificed for things to be 'right'.

hot dang!! yee haw!...we're a goin' to a hangin'!!! Oh dee camp town ladies two by two...doo dah doo dah...

According to the update, he hasn't been arrested and is just answering questions. I think it'll be interesting to see what happens in situation like this, especially if no arrest is forthcoming and/or he denies the accusation. The Peterson and Rice cases were pretty cut and dry since in both cases they admitted to having done what they were accused of and/or there was video available. In cases like that, I'm fine with the league being proactive in issuing punishment. But if whether or not the guy even did it is in dispute, that makes for a much murkier situation.

No need to worry. I'm sure the Commish is right on top of this. Speaking of Goody the Jet, has anyone seen him?

Honestly, if I were in the NFL i'd be worries about hiting a fly in the moment

And what about the victims??? Or can women (EVE) ever be anything but guilty? The truth is very few domestic abuse cases ever get reported (same with rape) because it is far to dangerous to--along with the possible breakup of the family. It takes real courage to report either domestic abuse or rape.

Ask the victims of Jameis Winston.

Eh, I wouldn't bother. She'll just give you one story one day then a radically different story the next.

According to police records, via the Arizona Republic, Dwyer and his wife got into an argument on July 21 that segued into Dwyer trying to kiss his wife and remove her clothing. She bit his lip after requests for him to stop were ignored and Dwyer allegedly head-butted her and broke her nose. Neighbors called police, but Dwyer’s wife told officers that only she and the couple’s son was at home. She reportedly left with the child later that night, but returned when Dwyer “sent a text saying he did not want to live anymore along with a picture of a knife.”

The next day, Dwyer allegedly punched his wife during another argument and threw a shoe that hit the child in the stomach. Dwyer’s wife left Arizona that night and, according to police, reported the incidents when she safely arrived in another state.

what

yes it is.

You are going to see a rise in domestic abuse cases. It's a pretty common thing that happens in situations like this.

All these cases and threads can be summarized by simply saying...violence begets violence...doesn't matter how or where you grew up...

/end thread.

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with people. Rape, battery and throwing objects at children? Where does it go from here? Do we find out next week Osama Bin Laden is still alive and has secretly been masquerading as an NFL wideout?

Maybe its just that I don't understand the culture he grew up in. Yeah, that shoe-throwing culture and that rapey culture. It is true, I don't understand those.

Just curious, can Mrs. Rex Ryan claim Tom Brady abused her on the Saturday before the Jets game and the Patriots would have to deactivate him? Then on Monday, when the report is investigated and found baseless, reactivated?
