Went through Pats-Vikings tape: Amendola was on the field for 9 of 23 pass plays. Didn't count a single time Brady should've targeted him.

Amendola only got open once on nine routes. By that time, Brady already hit Edelman for 12 yards.

That's interesting - heard the exact opposite on 98.5 today. It's the hot topic now, after Brady's comments (and McD's comments). That Patriots know they have to get more people involved in the offense, so we'll see who it might be.

Despite what you may think, I don't have a dog in the fight. I want the Pats to win, period. If it's Dobson, great - he's cost-controlled for years. Same with Thompkins. LaFell, Wright or Amendola - someone has to step up and they have to get that person/those people the ball on a regular enough basis, in my opinion, so that a good defense can't just shut down JE and Gronk and leave us sputtering in the playoffs.

I don't want to see that again, and neither do you. If Amendola caught 10 for 120 and 2 tds in the Superbowl and won the MVP, I have a feeling you wouldn't be sad.

I would be floored if Amendola performed. The reason I'm anti him is his lack of performance. I don't think you have a dog in the fight I just shared these because you mentioned it yesterday and I figured you would find it interesting. I was actually surprised to see those results but I don't actually know how creditable Howe is.

I thought about that, but if that's the reason, why is Brady throwing the ball 40 yards downfield on 3rd and 2?

Oh, hell---we've seen Brady throw the longball down the sidelines in playoff games on 3rd and 2. And ones that we were behind in, to take it one step further.

There's no rhyme nor reason in some of the decisions. I think they just do what the feel is going to be the best choice for the team at the time (obviously), even though it seems odd to the fans.

They do it because they see something they like but when they are on the 42 with 3rd and 2 I would much rather see them go big and run the ball 2x and impose their will on the other team.

I think the Randy Moss years stripped much of the patience from the Pats offense. Of course, QBs like Joe Flacco have made careers out of closing their eyes and chucking it as far downfield as they can, so who's to say it isn't the right thing for Brady, too?

Like some others have said, they obviously feel as though they can take advantage of the specific situation at hand, but most of us would much rather see a higher percentage play call that could in theory, even mean two plays to pick up the two yards.

It's somewhat difficult to complain or question what the playcalls are, because we don't have all of the information, but some of those do seem to be rather simple. It's 3rd and 2 in a crucial situation....run the damn ball or throw a high percentage pass ;)

Danny Amendola plucks his eyebrows.

technically I believe he waxes them....and yes, that bothers me too

I still think that Amendola will end up having a decent year. Give it some time, he does have ability. I think it is just that Endelman keeps making plays, so whey not keep throwing it to him. All it will take is one decent game/play and all will be well.

Think of it like the year J.D. Drew had with the Sox in 2007. He was invisible and even god awful, then he hits a huge grand slam off Fausto Carmona in the first inning of game six on the ALCS, the Sox win the series and go on to capture the World Series and all is forgiven. So look for Amendola to do nothing all year, then make a huge play in the playoffs, and all will be forgiven.

How much is he being paid ? And why ?
Zero catches actually 2 catches in three games called back because of penalize by others.

This thread needs to stay active. We let Welker go for this ????

Amendola had a good gain, but was rejected like last week. Amendola, like the rest of the receivers will get more rocks when the oline sees stork in the line and solder getting his problems fixed

Yeah the offensive line is terrible and after that game I'm inclined to believe more than ever that all of our WR problems are actually protection problems. Who is anyone kidding right now? Tom doesn't have time to even hit the 2nd receiver in his progressions in a lot of these plays.

No quarterback in the history of football can get everyone involved in a lot of these plays. If the ball isn't moving in some capacity beyond the line of scrimmage in the first second of the play, it's a swarm.

Offensive line is just terrible.

Amendola is just a slot receiver and he's not as good as Edelman ... we're over paying a player we technically do not need unless Edelman gets injured.

If Edelman gets injured, we are screwed, blewed and tattooed...

Amendola has lost a decent gain in all 3 games, LaFell was called offensive PI in week 1 on a pick play, Dobson was called for offensive PI on a pick play in week 2, and then LaFell was called for it again today. The issue is that the call is legit and the only reason Amendola is open is that the Patriots are illegally picking off the DB that is assigned to him. What concerns me is that Amendola has been had this occur in 3 straight games and no other receivers have even had it happen once, which indicates that the Patriots are conscious of the fact Amendola is having difficulty getting open.

Last season Solder suffered 2 concussions so the team changed his stance a bit during the offseason to keep his head higher and limit the potential for future concussions, he is having difficulty adjusting to the change it appears.

OK, we are overpaying for Amendola. In our offense, we need a slot receiver not named Edelman.

For me, the question is who of three non-producers should be active. I would always have Amendola active. That way, he can be used in the slot if need be. There is no particular reason to have both Dobson and Thompkins active, unless we want to have Hooman inactive when facing a really weak pass defense.

Amendola is just an expensive insurance-policy, IF Edelman goes down. IMO

Amendola just sin't getting open...he had that one catch today..but it was called back on a holding call. He is rarely open.
