Stork or Devey

More likely, it'd be

Solder
Cannon
Stork
Connolly
Vollmer

IMO, and that should happen no later than the bye week.

I'd add in support of that idea that Connolly might for a while be making the line calls. It's one thing to have a rookie center making line calls; it's another to have them made by a rookie center who missed a lot of preseason opportunity due to injury.

Much like Wendell starting for the last two seasons, Devey is another mystery to me. What the coaching staff sees in him is absolutely beyond me. If Stork can play center, and I think it's only a matter of time before he gets the starting job, Connolly should be the RG and Devey should be on the bench.

Fleming was drafted to be a Big, tough good pass blocking Right Guard.

But Rome wasn't built in a day. Patience little one...

Cameron Fleming is very athletic, he is more Right Tackle than Guard.

I would prefer to have Fleming at RG and Devey on the free agent market. I am not a fan of Devey, I think he is a horrible fit at guard especially.

Give Jordan Devey a chance B6, somethimes they develop with playing time. We have seen the Patriots win SB's with alot less talent at Tackle and Guard...ie Tom Ashworth - Brandon Gorin and Joe Andruzzi just to name a few.

He earned a degree in aeronautics and astronautics at Stanford, so he must be smart. Maybe his real position ought to be OC :D

(.....Note: this was supposed to be a joke, no need for 1000 follow up posts on Josh McDaniels, whether or not he sucks as an OC, and whether or not Fleming should actually take over his job).

Well, they've already got a rocket scientist as DC, so why not?

Dan Connolly and Marcus Cannon will be unrestricted free agents for the 2015 NFL Season. The New England Patriots have a boat load of unrestricted free agents for the 2015 NFL Season:

Ridley
Vereen
Cannon
Connolly
Slater
Aiken
Gostkowski
White
Chung
McCourty

Bolden - RFA
Siliga - ERFA or RFA
It's OT to this thread, but as far as I can see there are 7 guys on the roster right now who are likely to be priorities to lock up. In rough relative order of importance/urgency:

1. Darrelle Revis (signed through 2015, but with a huge cap hit under his current deal)
2. Devin McCourty (UFA in 2015)
3. Nate Solder (UFA in 2016; currently playing 2015 under his 5th year option)
4. Chandler Jones (currently UFA in 2016, though team will almost certainly use his 5th year option to keep him under contract until at least 2017)
5. Marcus Cannon (UFA in 2015; currently our starting LG and a valuable T/G)
6. Shane Vereen (UFA in 2015; plays a valuable and important role in the offense)
7. Dont'a Hightower (same situation as Jones; I have been unsure as to whether the team would pony up for the 5th year option on both Jones and Hightower, but if he continues to play the way he has in the first 2 games it is very likely)

Slater and Gostkowski are likely to get another deal, too, though neither should break the bank and I'm guessing their deals will be no more and probably less than they currently make.

I would guess that the priority will be locking up Revis and McCourty, then addressing Solder, Cannon and Vereen. How soon Jones gets an extension will depend on how much of a monster year he has this year. I don't expect Hightower or Jones to get an extension before next year.

The others are very iffy, IMO. I'm hoping that Chung and White get bumped off the roster. Connolly has value as a backup, but given his age I would guess that he gets re-signed for lesser money. Aiken is easily replaceable.

I'm fine with your analysis, except for Chandler Jones. It is simply too soon for a major extension. We have him under contract through 2017.

Not sure you can draw any conclusions on Stork yet, he played 12/67 snaps last Sunday.... and Brady only threw the ball minimally(once?) in the second half. He did not even get a snap in the first game...

IMO you need more evidence than the current body of work...
For some folks ONE rep in pass protection and ONE rep at OT is enough to want to name Stork (OC) and Fleming (OG) as starters.

Gee What an awesome collection of future high priced re-signings!

How can we possibly afford to keep these guys? Will the CAP actually drop after these players are re-signed? /sarc off

McCourty and Revis need new contracts. You seem to think that this is no small issue for the team.

McCourty may be the only one who gets new Big Bucks. Just how much more money than what Revis makes now, would he get next season?

Not so sure about Solder. He has not impressed so far this year (including pre-season).

I was initially okay with Devey's performance on Sunday, but when I went back and rewatched he was pretty bad. Clearly the weak link on the OL. I'm not a huge fan of Connolly at G, but I'd still rather see Stork at C and Connolly at RG than Connolly at C and Devey at RG, I think.

Revis is contracted to get $20M next season. So, a new contract will be negotiated.

The reality is that we will need to spend lots and lots of cap dollars to sign Revis and McCourty.

Let me much more clear. If we do NOT sign either Revis or McCourty, the 2015 cap hit will be
about the same as in 2014. The total 2014 cap hit is about $12M. The guaranteed cost for Revis is $11.5M.

Solder had a rough week 1, but so did everyone else. I thought he was good in week 2.

Cam would be an average good RT, and likely a disaster at LT. But I think he could be an All Pro RG. The Pats went into the draft looking to improve at C, and their Gs were both in their Thirties, There are 3 Centers now, and one of the older Gs is gone, but not the one everyone expected. A couple of Dante's projects have advanced far enough to be at least spot starters, so the depth is already good, and will get better.

I expect a Day 2 OL pick (at tackle), and perhaps a Day 3 G selection too. That would be enough to complete a new generation of good Offensive lines, and perhaps better on the Run.

The Skill positions are all good, deep and all young, except for Brady. They have another potential understudy for him. I'm confident they have a better than average record in scouting and selecting QBs, and Brady, Cassell, Hoyer, Mallett and maybe Polo is a good indication of that.

The skills positions are deep? Please explain how having only White signed for 2015 is in any way good.

The talent is there. Period. They have 6 developing WRs, 3 TEs, 4 RBs. That includes a 1000 yard TE, a 1000 yard WR, and a 1200 yard RB.

They will re-sign some, or all, when the time comes. Only McCourty will cost lots of new money, but not usually expensive in Year 1. Revis is expensive, but if he re-signs there won't be lots MORE money.
