Patriot WR options

Can we just remember one thing right now

This was the 2nd week of Gronk and Brady being in game action together.
This was the 1st week of Dobson being back in game action with Brady.

Gonna take a little time.

Besides Thompkins being inactive gave me the indication that they were gonna run a few times. Which it was a 61/39 Run/Pass ratio yesterday. Yesterday was all about playing a game the way the 2nd half should have been played last week.

Besides it's not like Brady was 55% percent because a lack of WR. He was 68% on the day. If the game plan was for it to be 61/39 Pass to Run. I'm sure we should have seen Dobson targeted a few more times. Amendola only saw 19 snaps because of the game plan. Gronk only saw 28 out of 67. Wright the move TE only saw 8 whereas Cameron Fleming the exta OL saw as many snaps as Gronk. Ridley was in there 37 of 67. Vereen only 20.

This isn't the game to be wondering about WR after.

We obviously need to get rid of gronk and get a real tight end.

Wait till Thompkins and Dobson are on the field at the same time. Plus with Edelman and Gronk, that's a good receiving corp

The Patriots have a balanced team atm.

We are a B grade for our WRs, a B grade for our running backs, a B grade for our TEs when Gronk is healthy and imo a B grade for our QB (who i'm confident can go back to being A+ with a bit more confidence in the OL).

We have some deep threats (Dobson), we have some redzone targets(Lafell, Gronk etc), we have some yard moving possession types (KT/Amendola) and we have some rbs that can catch out of the backfield.

We just don't have a true number 1 threat while Gronk is still injured (and even then, he wasn't a Hernandez type in the receiving game). This makes our offense very much subject to the team we play. I have no doubt some games we'll get 350+ yards of passing, and some games we'll have 150+ yards on the ground.

When Gronk is healthy, he's not only the best TE, but one of the best receiving threats in the league.

When fully fit, the only other unstoppable pass catcher in the NFL is Megatron. That's how good a fully fit Gronk is.

Remember if Tom doesn't have a 70+% passing completion, 4 Tds, and 350 yards we can't be happy. Did I get I right?

Tom didn't need to be the goat at QB yesterday. All he needed was to keep drives alive and get points. He completed 68% of his passes yesterday.

People need to understand that with a shaky oline, Tom can't afford to take the hits or time to go through all his reads.

The game plan was smart and this is what they should be doing often at this stage of Brady career and roster that we have. Opponents will always respect Brady throwing the football so why not run over them when you have as tough RB as Ridley.

Because as they found out last year your not going to run over teams In the playoffs where all the cream puff teams disappeared

By the time Amendola learns the playbook--Brady will be retired.

Gronk's best days are behind him. We will be fortunate to see Gronk at 75% of what he was. This year is just a lost year for him....he's running around like he's stuck in concrete.

Dobson is the key. This is a great opportunity for Dobson to become a playmaker and perhaps cash in on a decent NFL contract, especially when your stats will be better with Brady throwing you the ball. There's literally no competition on the WR depth chart, so this should be a great chance for a young player with all the physical attributes... he should strike while the iron is hot, this is his time I would think.

To me personally even though it is early.

Amendola/Lafell are not gonna work. Amendola had a full season and this offseason as well to get Brady's trust and he didn't. He will get a few passes here and there but not much more.

Lafell has been disappointing. He just seems lost and had a full off season to get on the same page as Brady. I find guys who seem so lost (that are not rookies) just never really get it. I see him at this point being inactive for the majority of the 2nd half and then cut.

Also people calling for Tyms to save the day need to pump the breaks. Maybe he could be okay but idk. Probably will be inactive more than not even if he steals a spot.

However i see reasons to be hopefully

1) Edelgod - Dude looks really good.
2) Gronk - I think he looked better this game than last. Until that stops being the case I will remain hopeful on him being at least 95% of preinjury form which is plenty.
3) Thompkins - Sitting him was stupid. Brady likes him and they seem to have a decent connection.
4) Dobson - The OL is the main concern with him getting his touches cause he runs deeper but I see no reason to think he will not pick up where he left off sooner rather than later. Looks healthy. This is still his preseason though.
5) Wright - Again a guy you need to give time too but his job is going to be easier than a WRs and he has the tools. A guy you can put on the field more once your blocking is sorted out.

Not to mention Vereen he was under used week 2.

To me this is going to follow a similar story to last year offensively but it will click earlier and (healthy provided) end up better.

This to me is a great week 3 opponent. I think getting to beat up on a bad D will help the Patriots O get in sync heading into KC & Cinci.

Offense is very rhythm based and after the Saints game last year it really started coming together for us. I hope Oakland gives is a similar jumping point.

How can you say Amendola hasn't earned toms trust? He hasn't the opportunities in both games to put up any good stats. All the amendola haters are hilarious this year. It's all agenda driven with no attention to details, which in this case is a shaky oline and a game plan to run the ball last week with 2 wr sets.
