Patriots -15 vs. Raiders

They made Chris Ivory look like Adrian Peterson in his prime. Ridley should have a big game.

Chris Ivory does run hard though. Once he gets going he's hard to tackle. He was the same way with the Saints.

Ha. How bad are the Raiders?

I'm Sirius NFL radio junkie. It's great because it really helps understand the entire league. The downside is that the callers tend to be predominantly fans from really bad teams, the Raiders high on the list.

So, I'm listening today during lunch and the first caller is from Oakland. OK, at least I get to hear a little Raiders talk to prepare for the upcoming Pats game...

"This is Joe Blow from Oakland. I was going to talk about the Raiders, but they are so horrible I don't even want to think about them..."

He then went on to ask what Rich Gannon thought about... get this... the 3rd string QB for the Detroit LIONS!

ROFL.

The Raiders are SO BAD, their fans call talk radio to talk about the LIons' third string QB. Sheesh. Even the Jets aren't THAT bad...

I hate big point spreads like this. The Raiders have a lot to prove and the Patriots might go into this one playing not to lose. The Pats defense sucked for an entire half against the Dolphins and for the first ten minutes of the Vikings game. We don't really know what this offense is capable of yet.

The Patriots identity through two games is Inconsistent.

My head tells me 31 - 10. My gut tells me 24-21. Pats win.

The Patriots play down to the opposition. I expect a close game won or lost in the last few minutes.

Speaking of Ridley - 98 carries (regular season and playoffs) since his last fumble.
What are you purposely trying to jinx riddley. :) don't like this new format, not enough variety in emoticons

I expect the Patriots to take advantage of the home opener against an historically awful opponent to continue working on their new ground and pound offense. There should be no reason to throw the ball more than last week's 22 attempts. Keep the wear and tear on Edelman and Gronk low so they are strong later in the year.

Where do you get this from? The Patriots completely annihilate bad teams. Like... annihilate.
Most of the league despises us because we beat them by 40 points.

I have been going to a couple of their sites, and it is pretty dreary.

Raiders fans will be saying "maybe next year" by the end of the 3rd quarter. While Woodson is still sobbing about the tuck rule on the bench.

We should be so fortunate that we have been on the other end of the spectrum for so long, that nobody remembers what it means to be truly hopeless, except maybe a handful of posters who lived the Rust and MacPherson days.

Agreed, this is also a game for Garopollo to get some snaps.

I live in the Bay Area I get all the Raider games and let me say they're a sorry team. I expect the Patriots to cover the spread

This Sunday's game is time for the Pats to show their fans they are an elite football team. The opponent is weak, the game is at home and our offense needs to play a full 60 minutes. Amendola, LaBell, Gronk, Thompkins and Dobson need to show up along with Brady orchestrated by Josh. Anything less than a blow out is unacceptable.

That will teach ya some humility. MacPherson wasnt that bad though. Taking over a 1-15 team is pretty tough and he got what he could out of them. They even beat the Bills that year. During those times that is what you could take solace from. Just beating a good team by playing out of your cleats. Exciting times.

I'm old enough to remember the 80s teams but too young to remember the 70s. I was 5 when the Ray Hamilton play happened. A lot of people tell me that was one of the best Patriots teams not to win a superbowl. Ground and pound galore with a really good defense.

Granted there was a real rough stretch before Kraft took over, but the Pats weren't awful, just habitually mediocre playoff bubble dwellers with a decent offense, with some pretty good teams sprinkled in there. The Raiders have been in the desert for 12 years and counting. The Pats have never had a stretch of futility like the Raiders are having (maybe the late 60s? But I don't think even that was as bad).

I'd love to see 70+ (and that's with Garoppolo getting the final 20 or so) all it takes is the offense to click a bit and it's entirely possible.

Garbage against the run, not much of a pass rush and a questionable secondary...it sounds like the perfect recipe to get the Offense ticking (or one big trap).

I don't think 70 will happen, but I'd love to see it for the caterwauling that would happen in the media afterward. Unlike some others, I've moved beyond being frustrated with the double standard or even merely accepting of it. I embrace it. **** the haters...

Pats will be lucky to score more then 35 IMO. Don't ever underestimate the opponent, it's still the NFL even though it's the raiders

1-15 sucked. You know what else sucked, just before that?

Thanks Green Bay!
