Vikings RB Adrian Peterson indicted for child abuse; deactivated for Pats game at Minnesota

That's fair, I actually don't have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with is people claiming that beating your children to the extent that the photos seem to clearly show can be justified and/or explained away by being a forgivable lapse in judgment, a cultural difference, or a safeguard against raising effeminate children.
I will never, ever protect a child abuser @BradyFTW!. As far as I am concerned, anyone who brings harm to a child is the scum of the earth. It's why I tread lightly when the subject is broached. My hatred for them takes grip and there is no turning back from that point.

I don't take kindly to words as such so go **** yourself @Fixit.
Oh, sadness! But forget about me, you should get busy making excuses for the second kid. I'm sure he asked for it.

Does anyone remember the Duke University rape case?
A bunch of students had their lives and reputations completely destroyed by a media that lead a nation against them as racist gang rapists. Their lives were absolutely ruined, and everyone, "who the rule of law doesn't apply to because they're the public arena," wanted to bury them for their crimes.

In the end, it turned out the woman accusing them of rape had made the entire story up.

The students were ruined. Their reputations were in tatters.

But the great, just, all knowing masses who convicted them utterly in the court of public opinion, simply got to say "oops" and continue on with their lives.

There's a lesson to be learned there, but apparently anyone who learned it is `unfit to have children` and the scum of the Earth.
I do remember that case. I thought the woman was lying the whole time.

That's a fair position but in my experience, photos can be an interesting reference point. I'm sure someone skilled in the art of photography can make light of it further.

Given all the commentary, my personal standpoint is I think Peterson is probably guilty of child abuse and the pattern of behavior is concerning it's more I'd prefer to let the process play itself out before my disdain for child abusers takes hold. It's a pretty serious claim, perhaps one of the worst in my opinion. It's not something I take lightly.

If you're implying photoshop, I'm pretty sure his lawyer would be all over it. Those are the pictures taken by the police.

Totally different thing. Peterson admitted he hit his son with a switch and there are text messages in both cases that Peterson indicts himself in the crimes. In the Duke rape case, it was a case of he said/she said. Peterson admits he did what he was accused of, but he doesn't believe he did anything wrong. In the first case from last week, the facts are not in doubt.

Ah, the pictures were doctored. Got it.

What part of 'photos and an admission of guilt' do you not get?

Peterson is scum. Anyone who thinks otherwise, should really check their morals. It's sad because I used to think he was one of the good ones.

That's fair, I actually don't have a problem with that. It sounds like we see the evidence in similar ways, but you need to see more before you make a firm stand on it, yeah?

You're misrepresenting my position and anyone who has read my posts will see that.

No, I'm not implying Photoshop at all @rochrist more the context of a photo can be considerably changed with the correct lens, different angles, different lighting etc.

I've already mentioned that my personal position is I think Peterson is probably guilty of child abuse (even though his excuse was child discipline) it's more I would prefer to have the process play itself out before I grab my pitch fork.

There is little I loath more than a person who harms and abuses children.

Look, the guy still gets a chance to defend himself, both in a court of law as well as before the Commissioner (or whomever will be deciding his suspension) - and he's also got the legal right to professional counsel in both cases. Yes, the evidence looks very damning and while I am not one of these "let the legal process play out in full" types, I certainly don't think the NFL (or anyone for that matter) should just be doling out major punishments based on nothing more than initial media reports.

Yep, you hate them so much that you're floating the idea that the photos were manipulated. You're a hero.

I think it's absurd to close a forum for that. AP is disgraced for what he did but why punish people who have posted a lot on that forum and frequent it. I'm sure most would condemn Peterson. Dumb to close a forum for something a player did. Why not close Patsfans for Aaron Hernandez being murderer if that makes sense?

Granted the Vikes f'ed up by reinstating him shortly before new charges arose.

And photos and texts and Peterson's own admission and his lawyer's confirmation ...

You're literally ignoring any evidence that might make you change your mind.

Uh, because they immediately cut all ties with him?

I do remember that case. I thought the woman was lying the whole time.

Most people didn't, and in their rush to side with the "rape victim" and make their "stand" against rape and violence against women, contributed to destroying the lives of innocent people at no expense to themselves.

So again, I don't see why waiting for this to play itself out puts one in the "pro child abuse" camp.
In fact, let me just bluntly say that it doesn't.
