Even if there were no marks left, and Adrian Peterson hit his son 20 fewer times, you would still think it was child abuse, correct? The `switch` = "child abuse", right?
Actually no, not necessarily. The fact that you still can't grasp that after having it explained to you by a bunch of different people is either alarming or impressive, and I'm not totally sure which.
This is exactly the straw man that I was talking about. I and at least a 2-3 other people here have tried to explain this exact point to you. In spite of our best efforts, you seem determined to assume that we have no capacity for nuance or grey area in our opinions. And you're wrong. I personally don't support corporal punishment, but I recognize that lots of people disagree with me there, and that that doesn't make them bad people by any stretch of the imagination.
But even if you're pro-corporal punishment, we all saw the pictures. AP has acknowledged what he did. Nobody's debating what happened: all that's up for debate is what AP's intentions were. But again, we saw the pictures. That's not corporal punishment; it's abuse, plain and simple. Unambiguously so. If you can't recognize that this:
done to a forward child and after a week of healing, is obvious child abuse, then I hope to god that you're not a father. Because to anyone with a functioning moral compass and sense of proportionate response, this is self-evidently abuse. There's literally nothing that a four year old can do that would change that fact.
