Watch out McCourty truthers (top safeties list)

I think what people are trying to tell you is the following:

Even a broken clock is right twice a day and you, sir, are no clock.

And Mcourty is not Elite.

Intercepting a Cassel duck doesn't make you great, but don't let that spoil your fantasies.

Unless one adopts an extremely narrow application of the term elite, then McCourty is elite. I don't think it's even really debatable (amongst reasonable people, anyway) at this point.

The throw wasn't perfect, but would have been caught if not for McCourty. And if you're not impressed with the amount of ground he covered to get to it, I'm not sure you're impressed by anything. He was playing within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage and got back to intercept a pass in the deep middle of the field. That's range that only a handful of safeties in the league have.

I do not understand why we have no locked McCourty up long term by now.

Takes two to tango. National media ranks him near the top at a position lacking quality throughout the league.
Big Money a comin....or the TAG

Some of you seen to forget how many big plays we have up before Devon moved to S...man shored up out back end of the D all by himself

I sometimes wonder how Devin would be with another at least above average safety playing next to him, and how much he has to adjust his play to make up for the horrible safeties we have had next to him

I agree, you'd have to think it happens eventually. McCourty is the kind of guy you don't worry about tanking when he gets big money or getting in trouble. So important to our defense can't see him playing anywhere else.

I love it Triumph hating on him after he makes another huge play.

Everyone should add triumph to ignore let him live out the rest of his days talking to nobody about how mccourty never makes a big play, and that any "big play" he makes isnt a big deal because insert some brand new benchmark triumph just made up.

Add FreeTedwilliams and Tony Sucker and a few other clowns to that list. IApats fan too.

Notice you never here from all of these guys after a win. I bet is kills them to see happy people and winners because of their own failures.

Also, people to to blame McCourty because when a big play happens where he is trailing the receiver or "not quite" in time to defense, they think it was his assignment. Without knowing the coverage called, people don't know for certain and because he does have elite range, he appears to be near the ball.

Now I think he has Elite range, others may and probably will have a different opinion.

Mayo and Ninkovich both got extended during the season.

Triumph and TonyTucker are by far the dumbest people in this topic lmao

Perfect example was the only Vikings touchdown yesterday. The last thing you see is McCourty getting there too late to push the runner out of bounds before he can cross the goal line. Then you see the wider shot on replay, and see that he was covering the deep part of the other side of the field, ran all the way over when someone else's assignment was missed and ALMOST got there in time. Not his fault, but his detractors will keep that image in their mind because he was "late".

And that was the only pass thrown at him all day.
Hmm, defend the deep ball by covering it so they can only throw it once, and then picking it off. Sounds fine to me.

Anytime someone has an agenda they usually end up looking pretty stupid because they ignore relevant information in favor of grinding their axe. In McCourty's case the haters have fixated on how poorly he played in his second season and completely ignore the fact that he has been stellar otherwise, so they end up looking like complete morons.

If you read the gameday thread, I gave him full credit as soon as he made that play. (Although, I think he could have scored with minimal extra effort ;)). I would like to take this opportunity to thank myself for lighting a fire under McCourty's ass. I'm sure as he was running that int back he was thinking, this should shut FreeTedWillaims up!

In all honesty, that was the type of "game changing play" I have long referred to. At the time of that pick, the Vikings were up 7-0, or offense had done nothing and the Vikings looked like they were going to march down the field and go up by two scores. It was a huge momemtum switch, of course, the kid from Syracuse made the biggest play of the day.
