Amendola, Yea, whatever. When will people stop with the Edelman bashing. Didn't we go through this a few seasons back? Height?, deep threat?.. Who cares, he gets THE JOB DONE. You should be kissing the ground he walks on. He's carried this receiver corps for years. Shame on you

I wouldn't go that far. That's just why Edelman gets bashed when he doesn't deserve it, the fans who try to put him out to be an elite WR or a #1 WR.A team Will never win a Superbowl if Edelman as your #1 WR unless you have a terrorizing defense. He is good at what he does but he is limited

I blame Hernandez for everything. I believe if Hernandez wasn't a piece of ****, he would have replaced Welker and Pats don't sign Amendola while focusing in other areas of need like the safety position.
The Patriots signed Amendola before the Hernandez situation occurred.

I actually liked what I saw from Amêndola last season, considering the context, him playing under injury, a team the was designed to have 2 premium tight ends and ended up having none just a few weeks before the season, all the rookies around, Tom having to adjust on the fly, there was a lot of things going on, it's not that simple like it looks.

But, you have to look at him as a #3 WR changing depending on the match up. He is not going to set the world on fire , I'm not expecting that, no one should, that time when Wes Welker was a nightmare for defenses is over, and to be honest, never worked in the playoffs, and when could have worked that MF dropped the ball.

its was the GM Brian Xanders that Drafted him Josh never had BB type power in Denver and Thomas was a First round pick the pats have never Drafted a WR in the First round. the point is you cant keep Drafting the 6th or 7th best WR in the Draft and think he will be anything more then a 4th or 5th WR on the roster if he can even make the team or be active on sunday

So Josh McD doesn't get credit for drafting Demaryius Thomas, but he gets all the blame for Tebow? Doesn't make sense...

You know what, I just realized I made the cardinal sin of opening and posting on an Amendola thread ....

Dueces b!thces. I'm out!

I don't see why anyone would blame him for Tebow he took over a 1-4 team and won a wild card game for them, that also made Elway see that they can win with that young team and the owner gave him full power and he got them in the SB two years later and they are still one of the top 4 or 5 team in the NFL and IMO Tebow was a part of that turn around in Denver

Amendola has been really poor so far. I think it's still early to completely give up on him, but I suspect if the Patriots had known for sure what Edelman could, and would, become, there's no way they would've spent the Amendola $$$ the way they did.

As for McDaniels, I have no interest in his input on receivers. He is a big part of why we traded for Salas, a big part of why we signed Amendola, and while we were all wringing our hands about the OL coach not making adjustments last week, we should've been focused on Josh. He did a putrid job in Miami, and has this bizarre assumption of assumption (to HC) once BB retires. Insane.

I suspect no matter how well Amendola does or does not do this year, they will ask to renegotiate his salary...

Does not make sense to carry this salary...

Amendola won't be on the team next year. Despite talk of his alleged ability to occasionally stretch the field - this was a talking point, post-Welker - the guy is a redundancy due to Edelman's development, and an expensive one at that.

Don't forget "fall down" Lloyd

I'm not sure I would see Brady forcing the football elsewhere rather than throwing it to Amendola as a positive. Keep in mind that the player Amendola was employed to replace was the player Brady had previously been accused of forcing the ball too.

Not sure what you're getting at here. If Amendola or anyone else is wide open and Brady throws into double coverage (whether it's his choice or because he's rushed and can't get deeper into his progression), it's a BIG problem. More than anything else, I believe it's why we've lost the last two games badly. Offensive three-and-outs in the Denver air and in the Miami heat are a recipe for disaster for your defense.

I suspect it's the OL. Brady needs time to get through his progressions without pressure up the middle. I'm hoping Stork can become the C sooner rather than later (he wasn't getting bull-rushed, from what I could tell), and was hoping the rumors of Vollmer to LG were a possibility (Solder, Vollmer, Stork, Connolly, Cannon).

Whatever the case, I find it hard to blame receivers who are open if the QB won't get them the damned ball.

And please, enough with the Manny Sanders worship. I wanted the guy this year and last - he's a good receiver. But he's not Antonio Brown or AJ Greene.

To be fair to LaFell, we were a little thin at the Brandon position.

Did Amendola play today against the Viking? I thought so!

Defense won this game.

The O did what it needed to and kept if very vanilla... no need to put a lot of folks in situations where they could get hurt, or show every wrinkle of the O...

Brady only threw 22 passes completing 15, I believe in the second half.. so draw what conclusions you like from that.

Since the end of the Dolphins game in week 15 when Amendola misplayed the potential game winning pass Brady has targeted Amendola at total of 18 times in 6 games, which equates to 3 targets per game, to put that in perspective in that game against the Dolphins the ball Amendola misplayed was his 14th target of that game. What I am getting at is it is very clear that Brady does not have the highest level of confidence in Amendola and prefers to throw the ball elsewhere. Similar to when Chad Johnson dropped the touchdown against the Bills in 2011, and Brady seldom went back to him again that season.

Amendola has 9 catches in his last 6 games, you need to stop trying to pass the buck to other players when clearly Amendola is the reason for his own failure.

If a QB does not have confidence in them then it is likely a result of them letting the QB down, so it is there fault.

I do not think I have ever once said anything about Emmanuel Sanders in the last year so I really do not have a clue what you are referring to.

You had me nodding my head in agreement until we got to this. Edelman has been more consistently spectacular than any other offensive player on this team for over a yr. now. He's proven himself over and over. Show JE11 some love. BURGERTYME!!!

Edelman is a great slot WR. He is not a number 1 WR.

The run game was very effective today, and the passing game was mostly ancillary. Edelman had a good game, but every other receiving threat on the team (Gronk, Dobson, Vereen, LaFell, Wright) was very quiet.

For what it's worth, considering the success of the run game, there were a lot of running plays where Amendola was lined up tight and kept linebackers out of the play. He was being used pretty effectively as a 2nd or 3rd TE, and there were also a couple mass protect pass plays where he was kept tight and left in to block. It's an interesting way to use a 5-10 receiver, but it was pretty effective today. Just goes to show you that a guy is more than numbers on a stat sheet.

He has 9 catches in his last 6 games, times that by 25 and you will have the number of different excuses that have been made for Amendola in the last 6 games.

Right now Amendola is about as real as Santa Clause. I see him as often as the tooth fairy.

Amendola, the Patriots mythical receiver.

Some people swear they've seen him. Perhaps one day, like UFO's and Big Foot, someone will capture him on video
