Amendola

I was very disappointed when Wes Walker, my favorite player, wasn't resigned by the Pats. But I understood it was a business and money is the issue. I said at the time that I didn't think Amendola was a replacement for Walker for various reasons, mostly injuries, with Amendola.

I can honestly say that Amendola has demonstrated that he is a waste on the Patriots team.

There aren't any viable excuse for him, it's over, he was a bad signing.

Tell me I am wrong.

Seeing as you're wrong about the spelling of your "favorite player's" name, I think it's safe to say that you're wrong about Amendola

Anyone who is NOT a troll also understands that Amendola's role is also not to fill "Walker's" shoes

Edelman in fact is doing that quite well

But in all seriousness, I think that ideally you'd see the Patriots employ a game plan similar to the start of the Dolphins game: Brady spreading the field with receptions by multiple receivers.

If you are banking on anyone other than Edelman having good fantasy football numbers, you're going to be out of luck. If this season goes as well as I hope it will, there will be many receivers with what will appear to be mediocre numbers

But if you look beyond the simple stats, the Patriots will then be an offense difficult to stop and able to complete the key pass when the game is on the line

I never expect to see a Patriots offense or defense playing at December levels in September, and sure enough that's what I saw last week

Emmanuel Sanders probably would have been enough to get this team to the SB.

Amendola is trash--he'll rupture his spleen while cooking breakfast. Lafell makes guys like Mayo or Collins look anorexic. Thompkins has timing issues...he's so out of position when the ball is thrown his way. He makes every catch look like a circus one. Gronk is awesome when healthy, but he looks 50% of what he was in 2010-2011. I think Gronk's best days are sadly behind him.

The only guy I like on this offense is Edelman--he does everything the right way. The problem is you can't win a SB with him as your best WR. Seattle could triple team Edelman if they wanted to, and leave Amendola wide open. Amendola still wouldn't know what route to run even if no one is defending him.

Funny, I was listening to one of the sports talk shows and a Pats beat reporter was commenting on last Sunday's game.

Said one of the biggest problems was Brady locking on Gronk in the second half, targeting him into double-coverage on 4 of the 6 plays where he was doubled.

Said that other guys were open, and that Amendola, in particular, was wide open several times on a crossing route over the middle. I saw the same thing in the AFCCG last year, including the Slater bomb, with Amendola sitting over the First Down mark all alone.

A receiver can't do anything if the QB won't target him.

Certainly part of it is the OL and the pressure Miami (and Denver last year) was under. And paet of it's either on Brady or the play-calling - he threw to Gronk 11 times, 4 into doubles, for a total of four catches.

This year is make or break. He doesn't cut it again...move on. Should be as simple as that

I'm not sure I would see Brady forcing the football elsewhere rather than throwing it to Amendola as a positive. Keep in mind that the player Amendola was employed to replace was the player Brady had previously been accused of forcing the ball too.

I still hold out hope for Amendola this season however, if he fails to produce, I doubt he is here next season and I doubt Belichick listen's to McDaniels' player suggestions moving forward.

I would not call Edelman the smallest, he and Amendola are just about the same height and Edelman weighs more. In addition, Edelman can jump nearly a foot higher, is faster, stronger, and more agile – all these things make Edelman a much better deep threat than Amendola or Thompkins (who is actually just slightly over 6’0”) in my opinion.

You have to allow some room for error as they were both hand timed at small schools. Neither was a combine invite. I don't think Edelman is significantly faster than Amendola on the field. They both have decent initial burst and shiftiness. Edelman just seems the the more polished and better WR. No pun intended here but I don't see a 36" vertical from Edelman on the field. Not even close. Antonio Brown had a 34"(sure its more now) vertical and he skys reaches out over the middle reeling in passes. Even when Edelman catches a deep ball he tracks it very very well but let's it fall in to him, he doesn't highpoint.

Its not really the deep threat we need but complete WR whether 6'0 or 6'4. One who is a deep threat by way of some deep speed and able to highpoint if he didn't get separation. Also capable of creating separation in the intermediate passing and the skillset to jump and stretch out while shielding defenders from the ball to reel it in while running an intermediate 15-20 yard route. Thats the complete WR we need, not just a deep threat. The way KT high pointed that game winning TD, that's what they need more of and should put more emphasis on it in practice and apply it in games more often. Dobson is capable of it as well. Both Dobson and Kenbrell run sub 4.45 with very good verticals and in air athleticism. Need to see if they can be that consistent complete WR. I think they both have the talent but have not proven yet they are consistent go to WRs. My opinion til they do we can't have enough WR prospects. We should have signed Emmanuel Sanders or traded for Denarius Moore or Brian Quick or drafted Paul Richardson or Marquise Lee. I think drafting James White over Marty Bryant was a huge mistake.

Guys what the HE!! Is up with this Allen Hurns kid?? How does a near 6'3 WR break hurricane single season record with a terrible QB. Reel in dozens of off target spectacular catches and look fluid and effortless. Scouting sux. How can this dude fly under the radar like that. Yeah his combine wasn't all that with a 4.55 40 and 31" vertical. He must have just had an off day because he has outstanding leaping ability. And coaches said he is the real deal and has been their most impressive WR since camp and one of best WRs they ever seen so far. I could see flying under radar if he were moderately productive

Yes, every team's scouting sucks. The "can't miss" prospects bust just like everybody else, and players that nobody wanted turn into big-time players. That's kind of the point of the draft. If a team could nail every draft pick every time, then they'd win just about every Super Bowl.

Hurns is 6'1¼" and he ran the same 4.54 both in late February at the Combine and early April at his Pro Day. He jumped the 31" at the combined and didn't even attempt to beat that at his Pro Day. I can't agree with the "near 6'3" or the "off day" parts.

You're as wrong as the poster you're mocking is. Amendola WAS the Welker replacement, not Edelman. He's also the one who runs more of the Welker-type routes.

Edelman replaced.....

wait for it.....

Edelman.

More on Hurns, how does somebody break the record at Miami and fly under the radar. And he is still raw, he will get better with coaching. And its not like he had garbage time production and taking what the defense gave him, he was making spectacular grabs while showing great separation burst, fluidness and good hands. Has great catch and go after making acrobatic receptions in stride, often not slowing down while catching the pass. And did so effortlessly. While not a true burner he shows breakaway speed. yet he was on nobody's draft radar. He was way down on the list of priority free agents, thats how overlooked he was while breaking records at a big time school and often was double covered. Bill may mess up in the draft a lot but he usually does his homework, this is a classic player Bill should pick up on like he did Tim Wright. This dude looks like an all time undrafted steal. Sux because the got Marquise Lee and Robinson and Blackmon could be back this year with new drug policy. I'm sure one of these WRs will be traded. Who would like to see Blackmon or Marquise Lee hooking up with Brady

NFL network quoted him nearly 6'3 and he looks tall so let's just leave it at he has plenty height and length. As for the vertical let's just say he has pretty good jump ball skills and vertical game the NFL looks for. He jumps and looks fluid, athletic and natural. As for his speed its about game speed. Chad Johnson ran a 4.58 and his vertical jump wasn't to good when he tested yet when he was younger he was one of the fastest WRs in the league and could sky to pull in catches. I watched him blow by Champ Bailey on a deep ball and he wasn't close to catching up to Chad. Hurns also runs away from players on defense. And when I said scouting sux, of course you never know how good a player will be in the NFL but to break records at Miami and go completely unnoticed like you put up those recieving ##'s at Eastern Illinois is the shocker. Then when you watch him play he way outplays the combine stats.

I blame Hernandez for everything. I believe if Hernandez wasn't a piece of ****, he would have replaced Welker and Pats don't sign Amendola while focusing in other areas of need like the safety position.

I think LaFell needs to lose about five pounds of fat and add about twelve pounds of muscle.
I think he would be most effective playing at 2% body fat. I mean, look at me. I'm in such phenomenal shape that I have to let complete strangers on a message board know about it.

Love the people who clicked disagree about something for which there is no disagreement. Edelman was already in NE. Edelman replaced himself. Amendola was the Welker replacement.

That is not an opinion. That is a fact. So Shmessy and JSP, you're being clowns.

Maybe it was the delivery?
