New league drug policy was just voted on. Heard mention that Gordon's suspension went from a year to 10 games and Welker should be available this week. What about Browner? His suspension was for marijuana as well.

If Gordon got his reduced I have to think Browner gets his reduced. But that's just my guess

He got busted for not taking drug tests, as he was required to do, so no he's not eligible.

Tom Curran said on WEEI, the current suspension is for weed. So he could be back. People are confusing his past suspension of a PED and the fact he "failed" drug tests when he was out of the NFL..

The Pats won't activate him this weekend regardless of his status.. And they won't activate Tyms this week either.

Call me crazy, but I'm not a fan of the HGH testing that was just agreed upon. Reduced recovery time for major injuries is a good thing, in my book.

I understand the argument against it: it's enough of an advantage that some players will feel compelled to use it, even with the effects of long-term use still largely unknown and potentially harmful. But I think the era of nine-month ACL recoveries is just about over.

My fantasy team just got stacked for the playoffs.

Other than that, I'm interested to see how many positives result from the tests.

Not sure if this was changed, but on the #Patriots website Brandon Browner and Brian Tyms aren't listed as suspended.

The next Tweet he made states that he doesn't know if that has always been the case but in previous seasons the team has had a "suspended" list when appropriate. Hopefully it means both are free to rejoin the team.

If we have 55 players on the roster, its safe to assume that Tyms and Browner are still "suspended".

Unless the league has allowed an exemption because of this rule change, just at this point in the week any formerly suspended player isn't going to be taking to the field on Sunday.

If HGH use is even half as prevalent in the league as many suspect it to be (with good reason), this rule could have a serious impact on the NFL. More injuries, more time missed for those injuries, etc..

Not sure if I'm in favor or not yet, but it could have a significant impact for sure.

Also, F&M were adamant today that Browner will NOT be eligible for a shoretened suspension - they emphasized this several times

It doesn't help Peyton so I doubt he gets his suspension lifted.

Seriously, if either suspension is for pot, then the new higher threshold should apply. So if they aren't reinstated, I think we can safely assume that the suspension wasn't for pot, or they tested above the new higher limit.

It would be nice to get them back. Another question is what happens to the roster exemption? Do you have to cut someone?

I wonder what they'll do with Tyms. I'm assuming they'll be an exemption for this week, but assuming no injuries they'll have to make a cut somewhere. Hoomanwanui?

According to my sources Ricky Williams is strongly considering a comeback. Should we kick the tires?

And their source was?

Not sure, but good point. Probably a worthless post on my part without one - hopefully they wouldn't put this out there without a reasonable amount of confidence

Absolutely agree. Browner's return does nothing to help Peyton win another ring, so he'll prolly be forced to keep sitting out the whole 4 weeks.

Maybe the Vikings should get first in line for him.

This is the first thing I thought, Wes gets suspended for amphetamines and the next day they decide to vote on whether to reduce the suspension for amphetamines? Really?
