Vikings RB Adrian Peterson indicted for child abuse; deactivated for Pats game at Minnesota

Not arguing that. Does TB12 have a right to post here? You are a staff member. Your dislikes and disagrees have weight beyond what reasonable people (I include you) would think they should. Besides, was the "switch" a part of the story then? (Hey, it might have been. I'm asking. Oh, I did not say TB12 was sane, I said he has a right to be crazy. :))

He has every right to post here and shares his views. And posters here have every right to debate it.

And my likes or dislikes have no more weight than anyone else's. I'm just as much of a poor schlub as anyone when it comes to opinions. The poster posted completely within the rules and he/she did absolutely nothing wrong as to the forum.

OK folks, this is blowing up: 4 year old boy.

http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2014/09/12/adrian-peterson-indicted-for-child-abuse/

".....Sports Radio 610 in Houston obtained a draft of the police report which says Peterson admitted that he did, in his words, “whoop” one of his children last May while the boy was visiting him in Houston.

When the 4-year-old boy returned to Minnesota, his mother took him to a doctor. The police report said the boy told the doctor Peterson had hit him with a branch from a tree....."

Gonna complain about "dislikes" or "disagrees" now?

Read my post from before and apologize.

Did I or did I not say that I did not agree with him? If you get evidence that he killed **** Robin that is irrelevant. I argued he has a right to his opinion.

And read my post directly above yours.

Are you confused?

This thread is starting to read like a Choose Your Own Adventure book. :)

Tim Tebow is gay??!! ;)
Totally unnecessary jab at (Tebow), a young man who tries to do right by himself and others.

In regards to the topic of this thread. Hitting a child as a means to discipline your child is wrong. You teach your child right and wrong. If they do something wrong you take away their toys, video games, ground them etc. You should never discipline a child by hitting because all that teaches is fear not what is right or wrong.

As far as Peterson is concerned I will reserve judgement until more evidence becomes available.

I never thought I would ever write this:

In 2014, TMZ is a far more respected entity than the Commissioner of the NFL.

(See? There may be hope for you, yet, Rosie Ruiz!)
Harvey Levin is this generations Walter Cronkite.

Yeah, Smessy, totally unnecessary jab at Tebow, man. :D
You quoted my post before I could edit it. I was referring to you not Shmessy as the one taking the jab at tebow. Hence your quote which I quoted. But the quote got messed up on my ipad but I correct it.

It's all good, Cat. We cool. The Zone was just being funny.

I think you need to relax. Realize that people make jokes and not every "insult" needs to be defended against or responded to.

EDIT:

Smessy made a sarcastic joke about the "calmer times" in the NFL when we only had to deal with the media frenzy over Michael Sam.

I made a reference to that other big media frenzy, Tim Tebow.

Combine these two. Exponentially multiply them and the humor is in us imagining the nightmare the media would become if these two topics somehow got magically combined into one.

Does he play sunday...and if he does...where will his mind be?

Here comes the "I was an abused child" defense:

Ian Rapoport ✔ @RapSheet
Rusty Hardin: “Adrian is a loving father who used his judgment as a parent to discipline his son… Same discipline he experienced as a child”

.

Indictment is what happened, he may or may not have been arrested (if he did not turn himself in). Probably will be released on bail, or personal recognition, and the next step is the arraignment if the grand jury feels that charges can be brought, IIRC.

Wrong. He has been charged. That's what an indictment is.

It is 2014. Not the 1980s. I am sure all our parents disciplined us back in the day that was acceptable then that isn't today. I hoped we have evolved as a society that disciplining a child by hitting him with an object is considered unacceptable and illegal.

When I first heard it I thought it's a parents right to discipline their child (within reason). My Dad would spank us. My wife's mom used the tree branch. My best buddy got the tree branch (and his Dad made him go pick the branch!) But in those cases it was 1 or 2 hits across the ass and it wasn't at full power. Just enough to leave a little red mark for 10 minutes, but definitely made you think twice before doing the same bad thing again.

From those pictures though Peterson went way over the line. It looks like he hit multiple times at full power. That's abuse, not discipline. I have a 4 year old and would never do anything like that. He should be suspended.

Lawyer Rusty Hardin: “It is important to remember that Adrian never intended to harm his son and deeply regrets the unintentional injury.”

.....yeah, because when he admitted to authorities that he had "whooped" the child, no one understood that the verb "whoop" in Texan means "hugged".

It's all a misunderstanding.
