***Ray Rice---The Whole Video*** [Update: Ravens release Rice]

It is kind of amazing that Goodell hasn't been able to go 2 days without one of his claims being contradicted.

Tues - Goodell says that law enforcement wouldn't share the tape with the league.
Wed - A report comes out that someone in law enforcement sent a copy to the NFL.
Wed - Goodell says Rice's version of event was ambiguous.
Thurs - Multiple sources say that Rice was honest when meeting with the NFL.

Add this to it:

Wed - Goodell says that the NFL couldn't have obtained video from the Casino without violating NJ law
Thurs - a spokesman for the NJ Attorney General says the NFL could have legally obtained video from the casino

Ray Rice cold-clocked his girl. She still married him. She believes she can change him. As horrific as it sounds I think he'll never do anything like that again and this is the wake-up call these 2 kids need to tread on the path to being good parents.

Obviously she sees something there beyond this horrific video. She's a mom and I'm inclined to believe she would protect her children no matter what. Ray's NFL career may be over, and it's so easy to destroy him. I say give the kid a break based on his girl.

The strongest relationships are built on adversity. There is nothing stronger than a family unit. I say stay strong Janay and Ray has been humbled.

I'm rooting for the family unit. F\#&k the NFL.

You know I'm to that point as well.

Seems like everyone is ready to kill Ray Rice, except Janay. Listen domestic abuse is a serious thing, no women should be beaten or touched, especially like that, but at the end of the day she's a grown women untitled to make her own decision. I've heard enough domestic abuse survivors come out this week and say they know all the action and emotions Janay going through, and they sound to think that it's happened more than once to Janay, but to that I say no they don't. Not all situations are the same. There is a chance that could have been the only time that's ever happened. We have no idea, and I'm not one to assume things. I hope it was the first and last time.

I hope the best for them and their child.

Within a twenty minute period this morning on ESPN, Bill Polian gave two different answers to the same question.

http://deadspin.com/bill-polian-disagrees-with-bill-polians-insider-opinion-1633593081

First answer:

There was a technical issue or something, so Polian was brought back on to redo the segment twenty minutes later and said this instead:

They just did a segment on this on the sports hub. Listening to these 2 responses back to back made the hair go up on the back of my neck! Freaky.

They attributed the change to the Illuminati and claimed that if you fold a dollar bill the right way, you can see Goodell's face. At this point, I'm not even sure it would surprise me.

On the contrary, and granted I'm no expert on such things, but I hate to say it - I'd wager one could argue that their behavior since the incident implies this is not a one-time thing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But her marrying him so she can't testify against him, her apologizing for her role, etc., etc. seem typical of someone who has faced abuse before and is scared.

I also have to say his reaction to knocking her unconscious shows me someone who really doesn't care about her. There was zero concern on his part for her well-being. He looked more annoyed than anything else. And for all he knew, he had just killed her. Instead, he tells them she's drunk. Not sure what that is, but that's definitely not love.

The reality is the guy is probably a complete a**hole and always will be. All the bullcrap Harbaugh says about what a great guy Ray is is only b/c the guy can break tackles. If this were a back-end player on the roster, he would've been cut a long time ago.

Sure, he does charity work. Great, they all do. They have an abundance of free time in the offseason and a ton of money, and the teams encourage them be active in the community. It doesn't mean he's a good person.

I hate to be cynical, but we do not know these people, and we have to take what glimpses we get of them when they don't realize the cameras are on at face value, and weigh it more than the image they want to present.

Why do you think he won't do it again? What possible evidence do you have to support that claim?

  • Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States, more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined.
  • A battering incident is rarely an isolated event.
  • Battering tends to increase and become more violent over time.

Why would you think that a man who has spent his life in a profession that is designed to hone his agressive qualities to the max, and how is now facing the loss of literally millions of dollars in income, might not lash out again?

I don't think you know very much about abusive relationships.

Hell, everyone here should remember adorable photos of a certain former player holding his newborn daughter.

You have a point, but I refuse to convict a man for something that AFAIK he hasn't done based on nothing more than the elevated statistical probability that it might happen again. Our country isn't Minority Report (at least not yet).

I don't think her behavior in the video before he clocked her is consistent with someone who is scared.

That was addressed to OhExalted1 and his contention that they're two kooky kids who somehow lost their way and he's sure that Ray will never, every do this again.

OK fair enough.

The NFL has unveiled their new strategy. Ray Rice fibbed to poor naive big hearted Roger. By the way, Ozzie Newsome who corroborated the accuracy of Rice's statement to Goodell has been thrown under the bus.

I think you don't know much about relationships at all.

We're so quick to tear people down from a distance and unwilling to give people a second chance upon the initial incident. Then 2 years later everyone gives a dog murdering POS like Vick a break.

Get off your F$%#k*n high horse.

Where's the Micheal Vick outrage these days?

Nonexistent. 24 hour news cycles erase memories. Pissed off today, forgotten by Wednesday. Truth.

Agree completely, and it's actually pretty scary. Rice would love people to believe that he loves her but I cannot see any way any one could watch him drag her, step over her, kick her, and try to ignore her presence on the floor and conclude he any feelings for her at all.Hard to imagine that's the first time he has decked her if his reaction to knocking her out cold is "Meh"

.

Just curious, if you knocked someone you loved right out cold and they were laying there on the floor like that would you?

A) Stand there whistling the tune of "Wake the f.ck up b.tch."

B) Get down on your knees and try to help them while calling for a doctor.

Quiz tip-If the answer is A you're a sick puppy.

Well, I'm sure he had some concern that they might get billed for any damage her head had done to the elevator railing.
