#FireGoodell is trending on Twitter

I really don't see how he can't be fired at this point. He's, quite literally, bungled every single scandal that has been placed on his door step since he's been commissioner. That game last night was a near atrocity. I turned the game off after the hit on Roethlisberger was flagged and didn't turn it back on again. Ravens vs. Steelers used to be must watch TV for me, but that was ****yball... not football.

I'm not one of those gingerhammer haters, and have never called for him to be fired, however in this case hes gotta go, he completely failed to do his job here.

Defenses just need to learn how to play nice this isn't football it's the NFL

Schadenfreude to the max. He's acted so smarmy and superior and pretended to be the moral compass. Guess you're not as smart as you thought you were Roger.

and THAT impetus will have to come from the wives of the big time CEO's or the female CEO's who pay the NFL for spots.Denise Morrison of Campbell Foods comes to mind immediately....pull those cutesie soups spots that have been identified with the NFL for 30 years and see what happens.
But watch out -- once Goodell gets players wearing pink for the month of October, all will be forgiven and women will love the NFL once again.

If Goodell hasn't stepped down by October, the pink is going to bring all of this back into the discussion. Those charities are going to get a black eye over this if they participate and lose massive amounts of money if they don't. Rock, meet hard place.

Let's call a spade a spade: the pink breast cancer campaign was hijacked by Goodell to sell the NFL to women under the guise of "look how sensitive we are to a worthy cause." Yes, breast cancer research IS a worthy cause, but this annual display is PR manipulation at its most cynically transparent. If the league really wanted to make an impact, it would adopt similar worthy causes like prostate cancer awareness, etc., etc.

Let's face it, odds are Goodell is going nowhere and the "independent" investigation will come up with nothing other than some secretary will get fired for not passing the video up the chain.

I'm not attempting to have a political discussion regarding the ethics of these charities. I'm just pointing out that this kind of hypocrisy will be newsworthy.

Yes. I wasn't debating anything you wrote; the ethics of the charities themselves aren't in question. I was pointing out Goodell's opportunism for PR purposes.

I'll edit this out since it's not really relevant to the Patriots forum.

Yep, I thought as much but I felt I needed to clarify for others that this is not the place for a discussion of that nature. I could sense the impending posts.

Overall, though, the NFL isn't a philanthropic organization. Its hypocrisy is revenue-driven. Pink ribbons drive revenues, covering up domestic violence drives revenues.

Let's be honest here, Ray Rice is just the tip of the iceberg. Last night you had a condemnation of Ray Rice during a game which featured Ben Roethlisberger, a man accused of rape, on one team and Terrell Suggs, a man accused of beating the crap out of his own girlfriend (now wife), on the other.

All played in a stadium with a statue of Ray Lewis outside.

First let me say. RAY RICE IS A PIECE OF ****. Period. No doubt about it. Also, Goodel is a moron for all the lying. Fact of the matter is, he should of just stood by his original decision. MLB and the NBA don't even HAVE domestic abuse policies.

It's pretty sad that absolutely NO ONE cared (especially all these talking heads and "righteous" fans who are all up in arms now) about the Ray Rice case back when it happened last winter and all the details were clearly laid out. We already know what he did, the video didn't shed any new light. The NFL didn't do anything because the public wasn't offended by it.

ESPN is only covering now because they have a video that can be played and drive up ratings. They don't give a **** about morals. Did anyone mention Big Ben last night? Or Terrel Suggs, who punched his wife in the neck and poured bleach over her and their new born baby? Do people forget about Jamies Winston? Does anyone care anymore? Nope. ESPN is milking this for ratings, just like they did SpyGate. (Obviously two TOTALLY different situations, but the trend is the same). This is the SAME ESPN who had ****in Chris Brown featured in a comedy skit in their last award show. ESPN does -NOT GIVE A ****- about true moral integrity.

The outrage here is really so phony to me. Penn State basically got off with a slap on the wrist for OVER A DECADE OF ENABLING CHILD RAPE and no one cares anymore. I'm not fan of Roger Goodell, but this actually has become a media-driven witchhunt. These hypocrites on TV make me sick.

Greg Hardy still being on the field after being CONVICTED of domestic violence is the straw that is going to break Godells back.

Hopefully the American Cancer Society decides they want no proceeds from the NFL's breast cancer awareness month because of this mess.

All that pink stuff sold NFL keeps 90% of the proceeds and only 10% goes to the American Cancer Society.

Just another one of Goodell's shams.

If ESPN can't loop a video of it all day, they don't care.

God forbid they have to go by official written police reports. But no, that's far too boring.

So you are in favor of a charity designed to fight a horrible disease giving away money because you dont understand how donating a portion of proceeds works?
Thank God you aren't making decisions for the American Cancer Society.
