Hey guys, Cowboys fan here, but I closely watch the Pats for fantasy football. I always draft Gronk, I draft Brady when I can, and I'm a big believer in Vereen this year.

Anyways, I drafted Dobson in every single one of my five fantasy leagues this season. I've been watching Dobson closely since last year.

I just feel like he is going to end up being Brady's only true deep threat and I keep having these visions of his being Brady's poor man's version of Randy Moss. Am I way off base here or do you guys agree with me? I stuck it out with him when he was a healthy scratch last week when I could have picked up some other guys. I'm still a believer. Thompkins and LaFell just don't have the talent that Dobson does.

I have been saying behind Edelman, he will be the best wr on this team. The fact he was almost Brady's primary wr to go to before he broke his foot, and now that he has bulked up has him primed for a break out year IMO.

Awesome, good to know that a Pats fan agrees, even if it's just one of ya. :)

Yeah, that was my main thing too-- it really seemed like he became Brady's favorite non-Gronk target last year before he got hurt.

Dobson has been the only one to perform what I call the "back door" back shoulder pass with Tom.

I am all in as well. Injury really set him back however

Anyone seen Aaron Dobson lately? Getting beyond frustrating. Passed on Cordarelle, so hard to believe.

Dobson is one of the few WRs on this team that can gain separation.

If Dobson doesn't work out, I will be highly dissapointed. Patriots passed on probowler Cordarelle Patterson and 1,000 yard Wr Keenan Allen to draft Dobson. I was SCREAMING at the patriots to draft Patterson, the most dangerous player in the NFL with the ball in his hands. He might score 16-17 total touchdowns this year.

Oh just stop. Patterson isn't a pro bowl WR. Dobson in less games had a better receiving season then be did last year.

Also zero guarantee Patterson would have even picked up the offense.

The Pats traded spots with Minny...a trade that netted them Collins plus two other players, one of whom played so well he got a nice contract from Pitt this season...

Patterson was a Pro Bowl kick returner. Let's not make him out to be a Pro Bowl receiver.

In fact, if Dobson was healthy all last year, he would have had more offensive yards than Patterson. Patterson last year had 45 catches for 469 yards and 4 TDs. Dobson had 37 catches for 519 yards and 4 TDs. Patterson also had 158 yards on 12 rushes (50 of the yards on on rush) with three rushing TD. And Dobson missed three games due to injuries.

And when did Patterson become the most dangerous man in football with the ball in his hands? He averaged 10.4 yards a catch last year (Dobson averaged 14.0). Let's not put this guy in Canton already. The guy has shown a lot of promise, but he is still only a great kick returner with potential to be something on offense.

And people think anyone who say that Dobson may be the second best receiver on this team is vastly overrating him.

"Oh just stop. Patterson isn't a pro bowl WR. Dobson in less games had a better receiving season then be did last year.

1. Patterson made the probowl last year. That is a fact. Dobson didn't come close to the probowl.

2. Patterson scored 9 touchdowns last year. 9 for a rookie is absurd. More than twice as many Tds as Dobson. Patterson already broke for a 67 yard TD in week 1. That's only the beginning. Patterson will get at least 12-15 total Tds this year.

3. Why couldn't Patterson pick up the playbook? Because hes super talented? Because he's got freakish breakout speed? What makes you think Dobson can pick up the playbook?

"And when did Patterson become the most dangerous man in football with the ball in his hands? "

When he showed the ability to break long touchdowns as a kick returner, rushing the ball, and catching the ball. He's a triple threat. You put the ball in his hands, he is going to burn you. Ever watch the guy play? He looks like a star. Passes the eye test for sure. Makes highlight reel touchdowns.

1. Patterson made the Pro Bowl as a KICK RETURNER! He was a mediocre receiver with the same amount of receiving TDs as Dobson, less yards, and fewer yards per catch.

2. Patterson scored two of them on kick returns. Since the Pats do not want Dobson to do kick returns, we will never know what kind of a returner he will be.

3. The knock on Patterson coming out of college is was all physical talent with poor route running skills and below average football smarts. He seems to be best suited for an offense that is simplified that allows him to use his physical ability over his football smarts.

There were rumors during the draft that Patterson was like a Pacman Jones when it came to his book smarts.
Belichick would of never drafted a guy that high that he didn't think would listen to his coaching or grow schematically as a player.
You can have all the talent In the world but If you can't be where Tom expects you to be or line up In the right spot when the play is changed.
Or watch film to improve as well as learn about the opposition that's the reason Bill wouldn't of taken Patterson
in the first round.
Dobson seems like a much better student of the game and have more reliable hands.

So far he is a dangerous kick returner and not so much as an offensive player. His receiving stats last year were worse than Dobson and he didn't seem to improve them last week with three catches for 26 yards. He had one reception for 79 yards and another for 37, but he did not have another reception over 21 yards last year.He might be dangerous running the ball in situations (jury is still out on that since he has only rushed the ball 15 times in his NFL career), but he has yet to show he is a dangerous receiver.

In fact Dobson's longest reception is two yards longer than Patterson's. Dobson had four receptions over 21 yards. An 81 yarder vs. Pittsburgh, a 39 yarder vs. the Jets, a 53 yarder vs, the Bengals, and a 26 yarder vs. Dolphins. So you can argue Dobson is more dangerous as a receiver.

I get saying you would rather have Keenan Allen over Dobson, but Patterson blows my mind. He really isn't a pro bowl receiver.. .doesn't run great routes. Yeah he gets big plays but those are handoffs, screens, and go routes.

I hope Dobson can develop this year and be like Keenan Allen. Similar builds

Ironically, the receiver part is the worst part of Patterson's game. He is a dynamic kick returner and a dangerous RB in situational football (he had single rushes for 33, 35, and 79 yards in his 15 career rushes), but he has been rather pedestrian as a receiver other than one game (141 yards against the Ravens). His next highest single game receiving yard total was 54 yards against the Packers. Those are the only two games he had over 50 yards receiving in a game. Although he did have 49 against Cleveland (2 catches with one being 37 yards).

Bottom line, unless Belichick was willing to use Patterson as a kick returner and a runner like the Vikes do, he would have been a downgrade from Dobson thus far. I don't know if Belichick would have used him in either of those capacities.

Don't forget Dobson has Brady. Who threw Patterson the ball. With that said I still think Dobson is the better WR. Patterson's big plays aren't coming catching the football. I like Kenbrell Thompkins as well. He had more dynamic plays catching than Patterson and he is raw from a garbage college offense where he coasted on raw talent. He has learned through the patriots and his cousin Antonio Brown how important it is to outwork everbody at the WR craft and max his raw speed, athleticism and hands.

The need for Patriots fans to stupidly bash players that the Patriots passed on borders on the pathological.
