I was listening to Colin Cowherd today, so I don't have a link for this, and Cosell (for those not familiar he is a great NFL films guy who's been done it for years objectively) was asked about Brady.

Cowherd usually loves Brady, but said he had to admit that he doesn't look like he's able to drive the ball anymore and generally doesn't look like the Brady of old. Cosell said that based on the Miami game he sees Brady as strictly a between the numbers qb at this point in his career. He clarified saying that obviously Brady is still capable of quick outs and bubble screens, but that he can't really push the ball downfield in any capacity.

I actually disagree partially, at least with Colin. It looks to me that Brady can still zip balls in there with force over the middle and over short yardage. I do think his accuracy is declining and I agree with Cosell that anything downfield with him is less than a crap shoot.

Cosell also added that because that's what teams will do now, take away everything inside and short to intermediate (which has happened for years against Jets, Ravens, etc..), that it will be interesting to see if the outside wr's can win their matchups enough to give Brady a chance based on his limitations.

His 30+ yard throw to Edelman looked pretty damn on the money to me.

I don't detract anything from Brady's arm on the throws to Brandon LaFell. We don't have WRs that are good at seeing the ball in the air early and adjusting accordingly, so there's very little room for error on Brady's part. I'm hoping Dobson can be that guy.

Dobson should be physical/talented enough to give Brady that larger margin of error throwing outside that he needs.

Obviously at 37 Brady is not the same QB as he was when he was 27. I said this before: Brady looks much much worse than he is because ofthe o-line and the awful receivers he has. I like Edelman but a team that has him as a #1 receiver will NEVER win a superbowl.

If Brady and Manning switch teams I guarantee Brady looks great and Manning looks bad.

I really think Tyms Is going to carve a place in this offense for himself he is the only receiver who has proven he can pinpoint where the ball is going and get get it at its highest point.

Good point, I forgot about Tyms. However, I'm sure our excitement will only lead to Belichick cutting him as soon as he could count against the roster.

It's difficult to throw deep when you have no deep threat. It also makes throwing short routes more difficult as D's know pretty much what is coming so they can get up the receivers asses and they know they aren't going to be stretched

Dobson returning will be huge, both for deep throws and shorter passes.

To call our receivers 'awful' is a simplification. They are just a bit 1D without Dobson, or someone of that ilk

I really hope not.
I think he can be a difference maker, he has never been afforded the chance to prove it because of his past and his football pedigree.
Thankfully here BB has everyone on a equal playing level.

Amazingly, I knew exactly what Cosell was going to say, based solely on the person making the post.

When exactly has Tyms "proven" anything? On multiple practice squads? During his 2 NFL career catches?

If we are waiting for Tyms to be our savior we are going to have a long wait.

Also, I think they could win with this group of WRs without question. The problems seem to be in the trenches and if you cant win there it does not matter who is throwing the ball and who is catching it.

His throw to Edelman was comically bad. Edelman was wide open, and Brady under threw him with a lollipop throw that seemed to hang in the air for an eternity. I could not agree more with this guy's assessment. Watching the Lion's game from the other night, I couldn't help but be envious of some of the throws Stafford is able to make. I'm not saying he's the best decision maker out there, but when you watch some of these big-armed guys, Brady's limitations become more apparent.

Yeah, he'll be great if you ignore the fact he's only ran go-routes to this point and our QB can't throw an accurate deep ball.

"Our"

Oh f*** off troll.

Are you talking about this one?

Ya what a terrible pass putting it only where his receiver could get it.

Someone please ban this apparent f***ing troll.

Yes. That one. Edelman was open by three yards. The only reason the DB was on his back and had a chance at breaking up the pass was because it was underthrown. Most NFL QBs can complete passes to WRs as open as Edelman was. Brady's lack of arm strength gave a DB a chance to break up a pass that could have gone for 6 with a stronger throw.

Umm, the DB was faster than the receiver. If he outthrew the DB it would have been overthrown. Edelman barely slowed. Great throw by Brady.
