Vikings fans feeling good after Rams blowout

I don't care about what other teams' fans think. It is how things work. When your team blows out your opponent in the opening game and you are facing a team that played like crap in their first game in the second game, you have a lot of confidence.

A good example of this is Pats/Jets in 2010. The first meeting. Jets played like ass against the Ravens, Pats played like champions against the Bengals. Pats go to New York and get their **** pushed in. I hope this game is the reverse of that and Adrian Peterson isn't doing gassers up and down the field against our defense.

Well, they did look mighty good against a team that was 7-9 last year and just lost their starting quarterback. Who WOULDN'T feel confident after such a fine athletic display.

The Rams also lost their 2nd string qb and Chris Long went out.

Bill better let Revis follow Patterson all game

I still don't get the hype of Patterson. The guy had three catches for 26 yards on Sunday. Last year, he had 469 yards receiving last year and 141 came in one game (against Baltimore in week 12). Otherwise, he had no more than 54 yards receiving in a game.

Yes, the guy is a duel threat in receiving and running, but other than a handful of games, he has been more potential than production. Last week, he was more of threat as a RB than he was as a receiver (he has three carries for 107 yards and a TD on the ground), but he had almost as many yards on the ground on Sunday than he had all of last year (158 yards).

Patterson has home run threat capabilities, but he is not a consistent player. Greg Jennings is still their best receiver which doesn't say much. This may be a game you just put Revis on the left side of the field.

:D Do you realize than apart from QB and Head Coach the Vikings are better in every other part of the game? If they are mid-low what are we? Bottom tier?

Showing that disrespect might backfire this sunday.

Do you realize that Edelman and Gronk were open but Brady under or over threw? Revis knocked down the Wallace TD but it hit MWs knee bouncing back up into his hands? That, Ridely busted off a nice 20 yard run that was called back because of a Gronk hold that was unnecessary? Ridley still would have had a big gain without it. The blocked punt gave Miami 7 points.

Or if it had been Gronk, an extra lineman lined up as a TE, or if Hoohwhogivesacrap actually puts a hand on Wake that drive continues or at the very least the Pats punt it instead of giving it to Miami at the NE 34

Don't forget they lost their BACKUP quarterback during that game as well.

The Vikings dominated a Southern Miss Golden Eagle walk-on QB? Wow. Then I guess Tom Brady has no chance of putting points on the board. Might as well forfeit.

Also let's not discount that Fisher may not have went in with the best game plan. He knows he wasn't gonna win anything with Bradford in that division, let a lone Shaun Hill or Austin Davies. He wants a top 2 pick so he can do what he did in 2012, trade down and pick up more picks.

You're only as good as your last game. Last year and all the other seasons don't matter.

This board would read the exact same way if the situations were reversed.

You are banned from this forum for being a yankees fan.

In fact, there's nothing left for the Rams but tank and draft Mariota

So we went from being potential superbowl contenders to wondering if we will beat the Vikes. Awesome..

OP, that post by the Vikings poster wasn't over-the-line at all, you're the one who jumped to the hyperbole of equating what that poster said to "they're saying Belichick is no better than Rod Rust!"

Our WR corp is absolute garbage outside of Edleman, Gronk doesn't look nearly 100% and our defense just had it's most embarrassing performance in a while (At no point last year did they give up 33 points). The Vikings have a very solid head coach, a good offensive coordinator and one of (if not -the) best runningback in the NFL and another great guy behind him. To act like it's a forgone conclusion the Patriots are going to win is foolish.

Ultimately, I'm hopping Belichick game plans to eliminate the run and try to make Cassel beat us, which isn't as nearly a daunting task.

There's just no escaping the facts. Bill Belichick 2014 has an identical record to Rod Rust 1990: 0 -1. Both lost to the Dolphins on opening day.

I am enjoying the Vikings fans' message board. 88% pick the Vikings to win on Sunday in their fan poll.

A taste:

"I'm going bold (and possibly over optimistic) I think Zimmer blows Belichick's mind with his defensive game plan, and AD getting started early opens up deep strikes in the passing game. I see more sacks than Miami got (4)."

The receiving is absolute garbage? After one game? When at half time all the talk was the Pats may have too many weapons?

Why wouldn’t minny fans be psyched/confident after watching the pats trying to stop the run? Peterson is going to run for 200 yards.

My sister and Bro in law live outside of Minneapolis, and we often talk about their lack of championship caliber teams... my sister is still a Pats Fan, but brother in law is hard core Vikings.... their win over St. Louis is good for them and their town, they need this glimmer of hope.

It is what it is, one game of a long season... the cream will rise to the top.

The Sky is not falling, things will get much better soon...

The Vikings might actually be good, and they have some dynamic weapons on both sides that will give the Pats trouble if they don't fix the issues in the trenches. I'm not panicking or anything, but this is absolutely a lose-able game for the Pats. Frankly, until they fix the OL, that'll be true for every game on the schedule.

Man, it would be really gratifying to see the line come out, play well, and just watch the Pats steamroll the Vikings D though. Their secondary is suspect.

After one game? More like after 19 games.

This is the same receiving corp as last year with the only difference being Brandon LaFell, who was awful in his first game and doesn't project to be great any time soon, Panthers fans were more than pleased to get rid of him. Edleman is great, an improved and younger version of Welker, no complaints there. The problem was wasting all that money on Amendola, who will go down as the worst big money free agent signing of the Belichick era. Yes, worse than Thomas, who at least had his moments.

Again, after Edleman, a 5'10" slot receiver,, this receiving corp is complete ****, just like last year. And who the hell was saying we have TOO many weapons? Is that a joke? The Pats are so thin at legitimate weapons that Brady was forcing awful throws to a double covered 60%-healthy Gronk.

I'd be shocked if the running game is as good as last year (top 10) either, that's where the loss of Mankins is going to really hurt (not worried about the pass protection, I feel that will be improved upon and Mankins was obviously declining there).

Wait until Dobson is back. He was coming on before he broke his foot. Tim Wright's two week's anniversary with the team is today. Thompkins and Dobson are both second year players and could make a big jump like most second year players do. LaFell has played one game with the Pats and still getting acclimated with the offense. We have no idea what the receivers are going to be at this point.

Your screen name is pretty appropriate.

Now Wright is the only guy I can see some potential for. Thompkins is also showing some improvement.

I think Dobson is god awful (he was a healthy scratch on Sunday), and LaFell is what most people thought he was, a low-priced mediocre at best receiver. I expect nothing from either and assume Amendola will remain a complete ghost. I much rather see Tyms get a shot over Dobson.

So at the end of the day, the success of our offense depends on a historically injury prone TE (Gronk) staying healthy, and the potential of two undrafted guys. Trust me, I HOPE things eventually come together, but I just can't delude myself in getting excited about Dobson, LaFell or Amendola.
